Преобразование историко-архитектурной среды средних и малых исторических городов Нижегородской области в ХХ - начале XXI века
The article is dedicated to the analysis of transformation processes of the historico-architectural environment of middle and small historical towns of Nizhny Novgorod region during the recent century. At the beginning of the 20th century those towns (then district towns and trade-industrial settlements) had an all-in-one architectural image that had been built in a process of the progressive evolution development. Since 1917, under the action of political economic and socio-cultural factors the succession in development of those towns had been broken, which put certain marks upon those historico-architectural environment. In the transformation of the revealed five stages, for any of those out the main trends (negative and positive) in the aspect of reservation of the architectural singularity of towns and objects of the historico-cultural heritage were found. The current condition of a historico-architectural environment of middle and small towns of the region was examined. It was specified that now their architectural-building development follows one of the three main directions: an active growth, a relative stability and stagnation.
