This work explores the problem of incremental analysis in the context of chart parsing, probably the most commonly used framework for the analysis of natural language. Incrementality here means that syntax correctness of a text is checked dynamically as the text is edited, changing the internal representation of the analysis rather than generating an entirely new one. This implies that the system then may interact with the user in order to resolve problems that occur. As a consequence, these kinds of techniques can be used to develop highly interactive and reactive natural language processors. The kernel of the work is an incremental parsing algorithm that analyses arbitrary changes of a text, allowing competing analyses to be developed in parallel. ; This work was partially supported by the Eureka Software Factory project, and by the Autonomous Government of Galicia under project XUGA10501A93.

This book explores a domain of discourse processing referred to as 'interactive grammar', based on an analysis of grammatical descriptions of over 100 languages. Bernd Heine shows that interactive grammar should be treated as a distinct category that contrasts with sentence grammar in both its functions and its structural behavior.

We consider interactive computation of randomized functions between two users with the following privacy requirement: the interaction should not reveal to either user any extra information about the other user's input and output other than what can be inferred from the user's own input and output. We also consider the case where privacy is required against only one of the users. For both cases, we give single-letter expressions for feasibility and optimal rates of communication. Then we discuss the role of common randomness and interaction in both privacy settings. We also study perfectly secure non-interactive computation when only one of the users computes a randomized function based on a single transmission from the other user. In the present day, simulators play a significant role in training military personnel. They allow, among other things, for practicing combat scenarios that are difficult or outright impossible to execute in reality. Virtual reality technologies are being constantly developed, as are the ways of their interaction with each other and with real objects. This article brings up the topic of interactive distributed simulations, presenting their technological developments as well as the goals of their authors. After the analysis of selected methods of interactive distributed simulations, project assumptions are formulated and interactions occurring between objects in virtual airspace are stated. The last part of the article describes the attempt of creating an interactive air situation simulator in accordance with the formulated assumptions. As a result of the work conducted, it was possible to program a simulator that allows us to study the interactions between radar warning receivers and ground based primary surveillance radars. Not all assumptions have been achieved, most notably full functionality with the DIS standard, however, the project can be further developed, allowing for full compatibility with this standard. Developing a simulator is a process that requires many assumptions, but also trade-offs. With correct assumptions and a standardised way of information exchange between simulators, it is possible to make a web of interoperable simulators. This paper addresses the performance of bodies through a postphenomenological framework developed by Don Ihde. Through his theory, I will argue how performance is central to the stories of two recent interactive artworks: Dennis Del Favero's Scenario (2011) and Blast Theory's A Machine to See With (2010). Both artworks are distinct interactive narratives that utilize the human body in different ways. In each experience, it is essential for the user's body to perform with a technology in order to move the story through a sequence of events. In doing so the user as a performing body co-authors the story by interfacing with a technology in a specific way. My readings of the artworks are based on interviews that I have conducted with each of the artists. I pair these accounts with Ihdeian analysis to explain how different types of technologies and different uses of a technology break down into different human-technology relationships. I use these relationships to show how the story in each artwork is mobilized through the body of the participant as a postphenomenological performance.

This study investigates how nonprofit organizations could develop their websites to elicit positive evaluations and increase fundraising. More specifically, it focuses on the use of celebrity endorsements in an online context. The interaction between perceived congruence of the celebrity with the nonprofit organization and the level of interactivity induced by the website is examined on website experience, which is an important predictor of the attitude toward—and donation intentions for—a (fictitious) nonprofit organization. Using a 2 × 2 between-subjects experimental design ( N = 122), the level of website interactivity and the (in)congruence between the celebrity and the organization are manipulated. The results show that an incongruent celebrity endorser incites a more favorable website experience than a congruent endorser on an interactive website. This, in turn, leads to a more positive attitude and a higher donation intention for the charity. In a non-interactive context, a congruent versus incongruent endorser has no differential impact on people's responses.
