The government of Bangladesh has considered the population problem to be the major problem for the country. In order to solve this problem, it has given the highest priority to population control. The First Five Year Plan emphasized oral contraception as a method for limiting births and ear-marked a target of 20-25 per cent of all births to be averted during the plan period with the help of this method. For the purpose of economic planners, estimation of births averted under a programme is an important aspect of any evaluation. The study aims at estimating the number of live births averted by the participants of Uthali Union in Sibalay Upazila of Manikganj district. (DÜI-Sen)
