Isssues in the production and marketing of biotechnology in Australia, Japan and the United States

This paper seeks, firstly, to clarify and examine the issues raised in a 1985 workshop on biotechnology in Australia and Japan and the discussions they provoked. Secondly, it presents comparative data on biotechnology research and development activity in Japan, Australia and the United States. The study starts by giving a definition of biotechnology, refers to important policy questions (regulation, market structure, tax policy etc.) and deals with international trade aspects. (DÜI-Sbt)
