Image compression attempts to reduce the number of bits required to digitally represent an image while maintaining its perceived visual quality. This study concentrates on the lossless compression of image using approximate matching technique and run length encoding. Dans l'un de ses essais publié en 2007, l'auteur établissait une distinction entre les processus de paix « officiel » et « officieux » (Das 2007). Bien que ce rôle – certes prédominant – soit toujours dévolu à l'État dans le premier cas. Dans le second, il est joué par les intervenants eux-mêmes, indépendamment de la médiation étatique avec, bien sûr, des variations dans le degré de relative indépendance dont jouit le processus de paix officieux vis-à-vis de l'État. Mais surtout, dans cet essai, il mettait l'accent sur le fait que les deux processus produisent deux sortes de paix très différentes l'une de l'autre. D'un côté, la paix officielle est toujours fragile – constamment hantée par le spectre de la guerre, et donc en situation précaire entre les deux états de paix et de guerre ; de l'autre, le processus de paix officieux produit une paix qui a plus tendance à être durable, car elle se fonde sur la triade des principes de droit, de justice et de démocratie. La corrélation entre ces principes et la paix, est faible, c'est le moins qu'on puisse dire, dans la mesure où ils sont souvent perçus comme les éléments déclencheurs des conflits et litiges politiques dans l'histoire, plutôt que comme menant nécessairement à la paix.

Reprenant Jacques Rancière, S. K. Das estime qu'une appartenance à un monde unique peut seulement s'exprimer en termes contraires et une rencontre ne peut qu'être conflictuelle. Pour lui, postuler un monde de signification partagée est toujours une transgression. Cela suppose une violence symbolique aussi bien vis-à-vis de l'autre que de soi-même. En somme, pour S. K. Das, toute liberté produit de nombreuses non/libertés.

Background: Sexual harassment has received global attention and has been recognized as a public health problem with increased physical and mental health risks among the victims. This study attempted to assess understanding, experience, response and effect of sexual harassment among the secondary school female students in Kathmandu, Nepal.Methods: It was a mixed method study conducted among 441 secondary level female students. In quantitative component, a structured questionnaire was used to collect information relating to socio-demographic characteristics, and understanding, experience, response and effect of sexual harassment from 441 participants from three clusters (schools) of Tokha Municipality, Kathmandu. For qualitative method, two focused group discussions were conducted to assess the understanding of and response to sexual harassment. Quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed using Chi square test and thematic analysis method respectively.Results: Around 76% of the participants had experienced some forms of sexual harassment in their life. Sexual harassment was significantly associated with religion and parental occupation. Majority of participants who faced sexual harassment reported that the perpetrators were strangers and they either ignored it or did nothing at the time of events. School, roads and public places were the most common settings where participants encountered sexual harassment.Conclusions: Sexual harassment is prevalent among female secondary students in Kathmandu. However, they lacked a clear understating of and ways to respond to sexual harassment. Raising awareness to recognize and respond to different forms of harassment and to change the victim-blaming attitudes can be a potential strategy for tackling the problem in Nepalese society. Quality of Work Life is an intricate and comprehensive concept implying a concern for the members of an organization irrespective of the level they belong to. It includes job factors such as health and well-being, working conditions, attitude level etc. the success of any organisation especially in banking sector depends on quality of work life of employees because management of people and management of risk are the two important challenges faced by banks today. So the present study aims to make a comparative study of the quality of work life among public and private sector bank employees in Haryana.</em>

Dans cet article, l'auteur cherche à tracer le moment de la terreur dans l'histoire en s'intéressant très particulièrement à la région du nord-est de l'Inde. C'est ce moment où ceux qui peuplent cette région sont désignés comme "primitifs" ou "sauvages" par des sources généralement coloniales, comme "militants", "rebelles" ou "gens hostiles", dans les périodes postcoloniales. C'est ce moment aussi où ils commencent à être désignés comme "terroristes". Le changement dans la désignation nous informe sur le changement qui s'opère dans les modalités de réponse de l'Etat quant à leurs actions. Pour l'auteur, l'histoire de la terreur introduit insidieusement dans son mode discursif, dans sa relation des faits, une forme épistémique de terreur. En se fondant sur le caractère particulier de toute résistance ou de toute action dirigée contre l'Etat central, elle opère leur stigmatisation en les affublant du terme de "terreur". Ainsi, en vient-il à considérer qu'il peut y avoir une histoire de la terreur mais en aucune façon une terreur de l'histoire. Réduire à ce point l'histoire implique la terreur de l'histoire. En effet, avec l'apparition du moment de la terreur, la terreur de l'histoire tend à fonctionner d'une manière différente, pas tellement en subvertissant et en excisant les mots, comme cela se produisait durant les périodes coloniales et le début de la période postcoloniale – mais en produisant et en décrivant un terroriste et, de ce fait – comme je préfère le dire – en subjectivant le terroriste.

Abstract

Aim
Chronic alcohol consumption can activate and dysregulate the neuroimmune system which leads to neuroinflammation. Neuroimmune regulatory proteins (NIReg) (e.g. Cluster of Differentiation 200 (CD200)) are the regulators of innate immune response and are responsible for silencing the innate immunity and suppression of inflammation. In this study, we explored the changes of serum levels of CD200 in patients with alcohol dependence at baseline, after one-week alcohol withdrawal and after one-month of alcohol abstinence.


Methods
Seventeen patients with alcohol dependence admitted for de-addiction treatment and 12 healthy controls were enrolled in the study. Blood samples were collected at baseline, after one-week, and after one-month, and CD200 levels were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit and compared with the healthy controls.


Results
The serum level of the neuroimmune regulatory protein CD200 in alcohol dependent group (at baseline) was significantly lower compared to healthy controls (p=0.003), and increased after one-week, and one-month period.


Conclusion
The present study indicates that decrease of CD200 serum levels in alcohol dependent patients and its rise during alcohol withdrawal and abstinence may provide a preliminary evidence of the role of neuroimmune regulatory proteins in neuroadaptation during alcohol withdrawal.
