The behavior of the professors & students of the Faculty of Letters of the U of Strasbourg during the events of May, 1968, is analyzed. A number of scenes are described during which confusion mingles with a sort of intellectual terrorism where verbal revolutionism steals the stage from all attempts at concrete revolutionary action. The ideology which dominated these events is characterized as a proletarianism completely ignorant of We life & a perfectionism which, wishing always to arrive at the perfect solution, leads to rivalry between possible perfections without ever touching upon concrete measures. Given the instability of French society, this disturbance is understood as a preview of others. In conclusion, it is hyp'ed that we are witnessing not a crisis of civilization, but the end of the Renaissance & the slow development of a new age. AA Tr by M. Duke.
