Climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme events and, consequently, flooding in urban and peri-urban areas. The electrical grid is exposed to an increase in fault probability because its infrastructure was designed considering historical frequencies of extreme events occurred in the past. In this respect, to ensure future energy plans and securing services is of great relevance to determine and evaluate the new zones that may be under risk and its relation to critical infrastructures for such extreme events. In this regard, the electrical distribution system is one of the key critical infrastructures since it feeds the others and with the future plans of zero-emissions (leading to the electrification of transport, buildings, renewable energies, etc.) will become even more important in the short term. In this paper, a novel methodology has been developed, able to analyze flood hazard maps quantifying the probability of failure risk of the electrical assets and their potential impacts using a probabilistic approach. Furthermore, a process to monetize the consequences of the yielded risk was established. The whole method developed was applied to the Barcelona and Bristol case study cities. In this way, two different examples of application have been undertaken by using slightly different inputs. Two main inputs were required: (1) the development of accurate GIS hazard flooding models; and (2) the location of the electrical assets (i.e., Distribution Centers (DCs)). To assess and monetize the flood risk to DCs, a variety of variables and tools were required such as water depths (i.e., flood maps), DCs' areas of influence, fragility curves, and damage curves. The analysis was performed for different return periods under different scenarios, current (Baseline) and future (Business As Usual (BAU)) rainfall conditions. The number of DCs affected was quantified and classified into different categories of risk, where up to 363 were affected in Barcelona and 623 in Bristol. Their risk monetization resulted in maximums of 815,700 € in Barcelona and 643,500 € in Bristol. Finally, the percentage of risk increases when considering future rainfall conditions (i.e., BAU) when calculated, resulting in a 2.38% increase in Barcelona and 3.37% increase in Bristol, which in monetary terms would be an average of a 22% increase. ; This research was funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program (RESCCUE project), grant number 700174. Rumor of Evil, Peace Settings: Rural Teachers' NarrationsBoato do mal, cenários de paz: narrações de professores ruraisThis article compiles the voices of teachers from some settings where the Colombian armed conflict has been intensely experienced. It derives from the research titled "Narratives of Peace in Rural Educational Contexts. The Teachers' Voices," whose aim is to identify the abilities, experiences, and knowledge of teachers from multiple contexts. It was carried out with a phenomenological perspective, which guides the description, comparison, explanation, and understanding of the study from the perspective of participants. A type of discourse in which their voices are collected is the anecdote, which approaches the subjectivities of participants. This article introduces some theoretical elements on the subject of evil, shows the first findings, and ends with a thesis resulting from the interpretation of the analyzed categories. According to one of the findings, it can be affirmed that, although evil remains in those territories, good is reflected in rural teachers' hope and educational intentions for their students; therefore, good materializes as human dignity in rural schools.Para citar este artículo / To reference this article / Para citar este artigoEchavarría, C. Taking into account the course of cultural policy in democratic Portugal, and against the backdrop of the international crisis of 2008 and the sovereign debt crisis of 2011, this article seeks to interpret recent changes in the cultural sector in Portugal. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods it focuses on three main aspects: institutionalisation of democratic cultural policy; government funding; cultural organizations and facilities. The 2008 crisis put an end to a period in which investment tended to grow. We place Portugal in the broader European context, concluding that the Portuguese cultural scene may once again diverge from that of other European countries.

; The present work considers the strategic planning for the Ferreycorp company in the period 2019-2023, whose elaboration is the result of the knowledge acquired during the masters in pursuit of the strategy to face the new challenges in the mining of Peru in the approach of the current situation of the country, which is not the most promising for the mining sector, this due to factors such as the growing political noise present at the end of the last regional elections and the presence of anti-mining authorities in the south. Since its foundation in 1922, the corporation has established itself as ...

Despite the promising future to industry in Brazil, most production sectors still suffer with the access to newer industrial technologies. Some very specific and limited incentives have been offered by the local Government to stimulate these companies. However, the forestry-timber sector hardly has access them, due to the several barriers and bureaucracies. Together with other factors, it is a visible reason to the lack of the renovation of their production lines, as well as the improvement of their industrial technologies. Industrial parks with modern technology contribute directly to products which better quality, and it could be a favourable way to the Brazilian development in industrial aspect. For that reason, it is important to perform studies to stimulate this sector. This study aims to verify the situation of the timber machinery of the wooden housing manufacturers in the Brazilian State of São Paulo. It was realized through a survey applied directly to the companies' owners. This work revealed that the largest share of these companies of São Paulo State presented update equipment to produce wooden houses. Nevertheless, these companies still could improve the technology of their manufactures with robotic and automated machinery, looking for a better productivity.

The objective of this study was to investigate both energy and protein requirements for the maintenance and growth of indigenous goats, based on data from two separate studies. Goats were weaned at 79 ± 4.4 days of age, with milk and solid diet intake recorded daily. To determine energy maintenance requirements, 32 kids of 4.90 ± 0.302 kg initial body weight (BW) were used. Ten kids were slaughtered at 5.40 ± 0.484 kg BW to estimate initial body composition, with the remaining kids randomly assigned to one of two DM intake levels: ad libitum and restricted-fed (1.2-times maintenance level). Heat production (HP) was calculated as the difference between ingested metabolizable energy (MEI) and retained energy. Net energy requirement for maintenance (NEm) was estimated as the ?0 parameter of the relationship between HP and MEI [HP = ?0 × exp (?1 × MEI)]. Metabolizable energy required for maintenance (MEm) was calculated iteratively, as HP = MEI. Efficiency of energy utilization for maintenance (km) was calculated as NEm/MEm. The intercept of the linear regression of retained CP on CP intake was used to calculate net protein requirements for maintenance (NPm). Net energy and protein requirement for gain (NEg and NPg, respectively) were obtained using 26 kids fed ad libitum and randomly slaughtered at 5.40 ± 0.484 kg BW (n = 10), 15.8 ± 0.655 kg BW (n = 10), and 26.3 ± 1.27 kg BW (n = 6). The first derivative of the allometric equation (used to calculate energy and protein contents in empty body weight (EBW)) with respect to EBW yielded estimates of NEg and NPg. A Monte Carlo-based method was employed to simulate variation in MEm, NEg, and NPg. This study indicated that the net energy required for maintenance is 310.1 ± 36.7 kJ kg-0.75 EBW, with MEm estimated at 499.1 ± 52.1 kJ kg-0.75 EBW and km equal to 0.62. This study indicated that 1.246 g CP kg-0.75 EBW is required by indigenous kids weighing from 5 to 25 kg BW to meet their NPm. In addition, indigenous goats require between 186.6 ± 2.97 and 214.3 ± 12.9 g CP, and between 5.39 ± 1.49 and 9.74 ± 2.57 MJ to gain one kilogram of EBW. This study may contribute to future adjustments in feeding system energy and protein recommendations for indigenous kids.

Genotype by environment interaction (GxE) studies are of particular interest in Brazil because of the regional diversity of environmental effects and the wide variety of management systems. The present study evaluates GxE effects on 365 d weight (365W) of Nellore cattle raised on pasture in northern Brazil. The analysis utilized random regression techniques to model the reaction norm. Fixed effects consisted of sex, contemporary group, and the covariate of age of cow at calving. The environmental gradient, defined by the concatenation of a bull and the state in which the calf was born, was modeled by second order Legendre polynomials. Direct additive genetic and residual effects were fit as random. Results showed differences in the magnitude of expression of genotype in proportion to decreasing favorability of the environment. As the environment became more unfavorable, the correlation of breeding value to different environments decreased. The correlations between the intercept and the level slope for 365W feature were of moderate magnitude, predominantly indicating the reclassification of sires in different environments. Reaction standard model was coherent from a technical and biological view point and enabled the perception of GxE in the genetic evaluation of Nellore cattle in the states of Maranhão, Pará and Tocantins.
