According to the author, the various Japanese government reports of recent years on industrial restructuring and internationalisation have fed waves of change which are now washing on Australian shores and whose force is likely to grow. Proposals under consideration in Tokyo and Canberra are designed to knit together the economics and societies of the two countries in a way of which few are yet conscious. At the heart of these plans is the project known by its Japanese title as 'Multi Function Polis' (MFP). The author takes a critical look at the MFP-project. (DÜI-Sen)
