This book attempts to look into the genesis of security culture as a concept which emerged with the recognition of the role of the human factor in the context of security. Dass bereits in deren Konzeption Auffassungen von Geschlecht als zentrale Strukturelemente eingegangen sind, wird jedoch innerhalb erziehungswissenschaftlicher Fachdiskurse wenig reflektiert. Der Einführungsband will diese Problematik wissenschaftstheoretisch aufarbeiten sowie mit feministischen und geschlechtertheoretischen Ansätzen kontrastieren.

Im Herausgeberband werden methodologische und methodische Diskurse der empirischen kindheitspädagogischen Forschung kritisch reflektiert. Dazu werden unterschiedliche, sowohl neuere als auch bewährte, Forschungszugänge im Hinblick auf ihre gegenstandstheoretischen und methodologischen Voraussetzungen, ihre theoretische Anschlussfähigkeit und ihre möglichen Wirkungen im frühpädagogischen Feld diskutiert.
