This case study reflects on our use of user testing during a research project in which we designed a serious video game, "Life on the Edge." The target audience of the game is first-year post-secondary biology students. As we designed the game, user testing was a critical component that allowed us to identify issues. Any issues that interfere with the flow or enjoyment of a video game can be distracting to players. In what follows, we will describe the research design and discuss the processes for testing a serious video game that will allow you to identify game issues successfully. How you recruit participants, test players, and prioritize player feedback is a component of effective user testing and improving your game. With user testing, we were able to identify problems in the game, prioritize them, and address them. By using variable user testing methods, you can adapt to the changing needs of your game project and develop a successful serious video game.

Mixed-methods research designs are a popular approach to research that can offer the advantages of both quantitative and qualitative data. However, using two types of data within one piece of research also presents challenges. To minimize these challenges and maximize the potential benefits, it is important for mixed-methods research projects to be well planned and thought out. This case study explores and discusses the use of concurrent and sequential mixed-methods research designs and the implications on the data collection and analysis processes, as well as the underpinning research philosophy. Specifically, this case study examines the use of a mixed-method research design in a study exploring the forms of tacit knowledge requested of employees in the automotive industry and how and why these forms of tacit knowledge are used. Understanding available options for data collection and their influence on the research process is essential to making an informed decision about whether to follow a concurrent or sequential mixed-methods research design.

"Against All Odds: the IT Story of India" is an insider's account and an anecdote-rich history of Indian IT over the last six decades. It taps into the first-hand experiences of Kris Gopalakrishnan and fifty other stalwarts who built and shaped the IT industry. This is a tale of persistence and resilience, of foresight, of planning and being ready when luck knocks on the door, of a spirit of adventure and, above all, of an abiding sense of faith in technology and the belief that it would do good for India. It is a tale of triumph, and the best is yet to come!

Case study research designs are a popular approach in business and management and in work-based research projects. Case study as an umbrella research methodology, under which a researcher adopts different methods for data collection and analysis, is a particularly useful approach for research projects concerned with an in-depth investigation of a particular phenomenon within a specific real-life context. The context in case study research plays a key role, and a researcher needs to carefully consider the choices of "case" or "cases" in terms of value and uniqueness. The role of the researcher as an embedded researcher is also important as case study research offers a degree of understanding of the context under study that can only come from personal experience and involvement. There are many approaches to case study research; this SAGE case study presents and discusses a case study research design using qualitative methods for data generation such as participant observation, direct observations, and interviews (with individuals and in a group) to investigate the implementation of a service innovation process. This research approach was found useful, as the outcome of the study was intended to be an in-depth understanding of the service innovation process (the phenomenon) that was embedded within the context-specific settings of a small business services firm (the context).

In the design of the gender and personal finance research project, savings was quickly put upfront as a variable to be studied. In the middle of defining several hypotheses within a robust research framework, we decided to first examine whether there is a difference in savings between men and women in Colombia. We set up the question and proceeded to answer it using analysis of variance and simple linear regression. Furthermore, the link between both methodologies is easily shown in applied research and reminded us of implementing simple, yet robust, methods in the exploratory stages of a research project. Unfeasible observations in the data suggested examining the question after trimming extreme values. The preliminary results rendered contradictory outcomes between savings and savings in terms of income; after trimming, a consistent answer emerged. The process led to a thorough understanding of both methodologies, a proper definition of the dependent variable, and dealing with extreme observations in the preliminary stage of academic research.
"As technology impacts what we do as a profession and arguably improves how we do it, lawyers need to know that our existing rules of ethics still apply in a brave new world of status updates, tweets, Instagram followings, YouTube uploads, and since the first edition-Zoom and other video platforms. And as our book details, the tension between the inexorable advance of technol-ogy and the comparatively slow pace of the law translates to a world in which we need all the guidance we can get in shaping our digital communi-cations to our ethical responsibilities"--
