Although police intelligence is becoming increasingly reliant on technology, it remains a human activity. This is the first textbook to offer a comprehensive and up-to-date account of police intelligence work based on current research, and to assess how intelligence may be used wisely and ethically to influence policing policy and practice. After explaining the basic tenets of intelligence, the author, who has extensive experience in the field, critically examines the development of intelligence structures and governance of contemporary intelligence collection. He goes on to assess the threats and opportunities to policing in the digital age, including the widespread use of social media and the emergence of 'Big Data'. Part of a new series for students and practitioners designed to reflect the importance of incorporating 'evidence based policing' within the curriculum and practice, this much-needed textbook covers not only the technical aspects of intelligence work but also encourages reflexivity in practice

Mossad is universally recognised as the greatest intelligence service in the world. It is also the most enigmatic, shrouded in a thick veil of secrecy. Many of its enthralling feats are still unknown; most of its heroes remain unnamed. From the kidnapping of Eichmann in Argentina and the systematic tracking down of those responsible for the Munich massacre to lesser-known episodes of astonishing espionage, this extraordinary book describes the dramatic, largely secret history of Mossad and the Israeli intelligence community. Examining the covert operations, the targeted assassinations and the

Discusses international cooperation among intelligence services, focusing on partnerships and alliances after Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and US intelligence service.
Intelligence Studies deal with the question what Intelligence Services do, how they do it and why. They can be responsible for the civil and/or the military sector and be focused on internal (homeland) or external (foreign) affairs. A key activity is information gathering, but they may also be active in Political Warfare and related areas. This paper provides basic knowledge for anyone who is doing or interested in strategic and security studies. After an overview on the term intelligence and the topics of intelligence studies, the structure and rationale of intelligence communities and cooperation between intelligence services is presented, followed by a discussion of the legal and political dimension and the relationship to media. The following section presents covert activities in Political Warfare. Finally, the new field of cyber espionage and the impact on the structure and activities of intelligence services is briefly presented.
