The research study titled "School Based Action Research on the implementation of Life Skills Education in schools", broadly aimed to observe positive behavioral change in teachers and students through the implementation of Life Skills Education in schools. This is to be achieved by converging on a sub theme: "Can Life Skills Education address and deal with disciplinary issues in Tshangkha Central School". The research is carried out at Tshangkha Central School, Trongsa with classes IX – XII students.
This paper assesses whether life skills education can curb out the disciplinary problems in the school. It begins with a review of the literature on indiscipline; its types; causes; life skill education, and utilizes that literature to identify how ten core life skills could be applied to address and deal with disciplinary issues. Research methodology implored are questionnaire, applicability and transferability test, interview and school disciplinary records register. It is primarily a mixed method.
After the analysis of the data there has been evidence of Life Skills Education (LSE) being successful in addressing and dealing with disciplinary issues in Tshangkha Central School (TCS).

This article reassesses the relationship between state authority and violence in the context of border controls. Drawing on empirical research conducted with immigration and police officers in the UK, I show that the use of force in this context give rise to distinctively complex ethical questions which shape institutional and individual practices, and is entangled with the legally and politically fragile authority wielded by frontline staff. Faced with a morally, socially and politically controversial mandate, these officers devise a range of strategies to either minimize or conceal the use of violence. In doing so, they sometimes fall into oxymorons and euphemisms that at once evidence the shady line between coercion and consent, and shed light on the some of the profound moral dilemmas they encounter in doing border work. These dilemmas, I conclude, speak of broader challenges to the exercise of state coercive power, and the negotiated, contingent and provisional nature of state authority in a globalized, postcolonial and profoundly unequal world. I also argue for the social and intellectual urge to integrate the study of immigration enforcement in contemporary debates of state penality.

In the coastal waters of the Arctic, the most common species of Fucoids are Fucus vesiculosus, Fucus spiralis, and Ascophyllum nodosum. It was reported that bioactive compounds present in brown algae (such as polyphenols, polysaccharides, proteins, amino acids, etc.) have a variety of biological properties: antioxidant, antiviral, antibacterial, anticoagulant, etc. Extraction of biologically active substances from macroalgae in order to obtain products with the necessary properties is based on several factors: the chemical composition of the raw material, which depends on the conditions of the collection sites, as well as the nature of the solvent, the extraction method, etc. This paper presents the results of a comparative study of extracts from three Fucaceae family species collected on the coast of the Barents Sea and the Irminger Sea (West Iceland) for polyphenol content. The antioxidant activity of the extracts was also determined by reaction with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). It was shown that the content of polyphenols in extracts depends on the places of collection of algae, and their antioxidant activity does not differ significantly, which suggests the presence of other antioxidants in the extracts.

AbstractThis article is a study of the operation and culture of debate in the house of commons during the English Protectorate. Drawing principally upon the manuscript diaries of Thomas Burton and Guybon Goddard, it will explore the substantial degree of contingency and flexibility which parliamentary debate permitted within a commonly‐understood framework of disciplines. While these troublesome parliaments are commonly associated with insoluble conflict between members, it will be demonstrated that debate was conceptualised as a mechanism for resolving conflict rather than merely as a forum for expressing conflict. By first analysing the peculiar and often informal ways in which parliamentary discipline worked to identify and correct 'disorderly' behaviour, and then evaluating what that reveals about members' expectations of what debate was supposed to achieve, this article will uncover an underlying parliamentary culture in which the institution of debate was highly valued as a means for reaching agreement. The tightrope between freedom and moderation of speech could be tricky to negotiate, but it was the admittedly imperfect synthesis of the two which best characterised the debates of the Protectorate Parliaments.

In this study, we investigate the consequences of organizational change that consist of adding new categories to the portfolio of humanitarian organizations. Our aim is to discern differences in these consequences between specialist and generalist organizations. Previous research has shown that spanning categories lead to disadvantages in the evaluation of organizations by audience members in terms of the attention they receive from the audience but did not focus on the distinction between specialists, organizations that have no history in spanning categories, and generalists, organizations that have already done so in the past. Using fixed effect logit regression methods on project approval among 2480 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the humanitarian sector, we show that category spanning is tantamount to risky organizational change for specialist organizations, which leads to a reduction in project approval. However, generalists benefit from category spanning, which indicates identity reinforcement. We also show that in the case of urgent demand, spanning categories has a less detrimental effect. Consequently, organizations that have successfully undergone a change from a specialist to a generalist identity no longer suffer from category spanning. Moreover, also situations of urgent demand reduce the negative consequences of category spanning.

The regulative and oppressive effects of gender norms on bodies of transgender workers have been mostly explored in standard binary gender work settings. We explore the regulative effects of specialized transgender work regimes by posing the following two questions: how do specialized transgendered work regimes regulate transgender work and bodies? and how do transgender workers cope with these regimes? Through a case study of khwajasiras, a community of male-to-female transgender people in Pakistan, we explain how competing and conflicting body ideals of hyper-eroticism, spirituality, and hybridity set by these regimes, allow khwajasiras to transgress the binary gender norms. Ironically, however, these specialized work regimes have their own regulative and oppressive effects on khwajasiras' bodies and work. We then demonstrate how khwajasiras cope with these regulative effects in three different ways: embracing the body ideals, strategically shifting work and body across the regimes, and relegating body norms as unimportant for being a transgender. We finally argue that these differences in enacting different form of transgenderness is an outcome of a tight coupling or contradiction between audiences, khwajasira community and individual workers' own sense of transgender authenticity.

AbstractThis study analyzes the link between temperature and COVID‐19 incidence in a sample of Italian regions during the period that covers the first epidemic wave of 2020. To that end, Bayesian model averaging techniques are used to analyze the relevance of temperature together with a set of additional climatic, demographic, social, and health policy factors. The robustness of individual predictors is measured through posterior inclusion probabilities. The empirical analysis provides conclusive evidence on the role played by temperature given that it appears as one of the most relevant determinants reducing regional coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) severity. The strong negative link observed in our baseline analysis is robust to the specification of priors, the scale of analysis, the correction of measurement errors in the data due to under‐reporting, the time window considered, and the inclusion of spatial effects in the model. In a second step, we compute relative importance metrics that decompose the variability explained by the model. We find that cross‐regional temperature differentials explain a large share of the observed variation on the number of infections.

Comprehensive protection of minors is one of the priority areas of criminal law policy. The pre-trial investigation, and their interrogation as its part, occupies a special place in the process of protection of minors and restoration of their violated rights. The interrogation of minors is a special procedure with clearly defined requirements. The aim of the study was to identify gaps in the regulation of interrogation of minors and suggest ways to address them. The methods used: system approach; descriptive statistics; comparison and juxtaposition; descriptive analysis; pragmatic approach; prognostication. The tactics of interrogation of a minor victim of a crime are legally defined in the national criminal procedural legislation of the vast majority of countries. The principles, rules, main measures, and purpose of interrogation of this category of victims in the pre-trial investigation are enshrined in the provisions of international regulations. These rules are based on the principle of child-friendly justice. But the practical conduct of the interrogation has several gaps, so it is necessary to clarify the rules of international and national regulations on certain provisions.

The scientific article, based on the provisions of the theory of criminal procedure, criminology, psychology, reveals the problems of obtaining the testimony of a minor during the pre-trial investigation according to the laws of Ukraine. It is noted that the method of obtaining testimony should be based on the age and procedural status of the minor, which requires a special approach considering the vulnerable state, social immaturity, and the risk of violation of the rights and freedoms of such persons. The study used general scientific methods to determine certain legal categories that characterize the interrogation procedure of a minor, as well as special methods. The practice of introducing "green rooms" in the field of criminal justice is recognized as promising, as the child's environment during relevant procedural actions is extremely important for establishing contact with the child. It is concluded that the lack of desirability of classifying a minor suspect as a subject for questioning in court during a pre-trial investigation is justified, as it would be contrary to the requirements of the law on the immediacy of the examination of evidence in court.

The aim of the article is to clarify the limits and content of the normative regulation of the prevention of domestic violence in Ukraine based on the values of natural law, the theory of criminal, civil and administrative law, and current legislation. In addition, an analysis of the legal support for the training and implementation of State policy in the field of protection of victims of domestic violence is carried out. The legal nature and content of the legal regulation of the prevention of domestic violence in Ukraine are revealed. The dialectical method contributed to the consideration and study of the problem in the unity of its social content and legal form and to the implementation of a systematic analysis of the normative regulation of the prevention of domestic violence in Ukraine. Everything allows us to conclude that the norms of international, European, and national law that regulate the relations of prevention and fight against domestic violence in Ukraine are articulated. Finally, special attention is paid to the organizational and legal aspects of the fight against domestic violence in relation to changes in Ukrainian legislation.

In criminal proceedings, in special circumstances, exceptions have been provided for to deviate from the competences of the judicial authorities, and the present study aims to compare these cases in Iranian and French criminal procedure. As for intrinsic jurisdiction, the findings indicate that in Iranian criminal procedure deviation from intrinsic jurisdiction is permitted in cases such as issuing a collective verdict and observing the rules of multiple crimes. In French criminal procedure, deviation from the inherent jurisdiction is possible in limited cases and only within the framework of a referral. Moreover, as regards the rule of diversion from local jurisdiction, the fact that, without exception, that rule cannot lead to favourable judicial review of criminal cases is common to both criminal proceedings. Indeed, the need to establish exceptions and violations of this rule in order to increase the efficiency of the judiciary is inevitable. Moreover, in both Iranian and French criminal proceedings, the basis for determining personal jurisdiction is the perpetrator, so that the criminal procedure has placed the investigation of certain persons under the jurisdiction of a specific authority.

Judicial practice shows that the request of all lawyers is not answered, so the study of the role of the application is relevant. The objective of the research was to carry out a theoretical and legal analysis of the role of the lawyer's request in the field of the defense of human rights due to the peculiarities of its normative support as a means of legal communication. The following methods were used: direct observation; comparison method; analysis of the content of the documents governing the procedure for giving and receiving a response to a lawyer's request. Documents and normative-legal programs that regulate the order and peculiarities of the legal work of lawyers and their requests were identified. The article also examines the legal practice of using applications and analyzes the activity of lawyers to ensure the role of the application as an effective means of legal communication. It was found that, in Ukraine, the application practice itself remains an ineffective means of legal communication. However, the attorney does not always collect the information and documents necessary for the defense in due time.

The purpose of the work is to analyze the transformation and efficiency of the organizational and legal mechanism of Ukraine's state policy in the field of tourism and hospitality. Methods of grouping, modeling, and forecasting, methods of theorization and historical formalization, as well as methods of analysis, comparison, sampling, and description of the system were used to substantiate scientific principles and approaches for the development of organizational and legal mechanisms of Ukrainian state policy in the field of tourism and hospitality. In addition, the study identifies the conceptual foundations of the organizational and legal mechanism of Ukraine's state policy in the field of tourism and hospitality, which corroborates the importance of updating national legislation, its unification with international, including European, improving the Tourism and Resorts Strategy of Ukraine. As contributions of the research andoutline the objectives and prioritymeasures of the state policy in the field of tourism and hospitality, the strategic tasks of the state policy in this area are formulated, namely: to ensure progress towards the formation of a unique tourist space with other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

This study examines the problem of characterizing the political communications system in Britain as a socio-political phenomenon. In the XX-XXI centuries, the intense growth of knowledge has shaped the socio-cultural and political activity of the population. Political communication becomes a separate area from human activity. In modern conditions, political communication is a set of processes, the source of which should be power. There are many processes in species diversity. Political communications in modern conditions have acquired the status of a social institution. The article attempts to present the institutional status of the phenomenon of political communication as a structure of three main components. First, the state as a governing body, represented by three powers: legislative, executive, and judicial. Secondly, society, which acts as the recipient of the initiatives of state power, or which has a positive attitude towards state policy or, negative and opposes, or has an attitude of waiting to see what happens. At the same time, there are groups in society that tend to actively intervene in politics. The third element of the political communication system is the media.

AbstractDuring an ongoing outbreak of Legionnaires' disease in Belgium, residents of the affected area took part in an online field experiment. The impact of four distinct crisis messages used by the Belgian authorities was tested on uncertainty, fear and trust. After receiving any of these messages, participants felt less insecure, less anxious and had more trust in the authorities as compared to before they saw the information. The extent of this positive impact of crisis information depended, however, on the message that was offered. Two messages offering comprehensive instructing and adjusting information appeared more effective than two messages offering only limited (predominantly adjusting) information. The use of visuals, by means of an infographic, did not seem to hinder or increase the effectiveness of the message in this particular study. Organizations and authorities responsible for managing a health crisis are recommended to actively communicate a complete overview of information about what is going on as well as specific information regarding what the public can (or cannot) do to address the matter. While visual aids may not be necessary, they can be helpful to effectively communicate a comprehensive overview of information through social media.
