Cross-cultural intimate relationships can bring about positives changes to society as a whole. Although many cross-cultural couples face a plectrum of challenges, many of them overcome those challenges. Differing of opinions, morals, and values can strain relationships and bonds. There are many stereotypes associated with different religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Cross-cultural relationships go against the status quo by introducing new ideas and perspectives to different demographics. Children who are products of cross-cultural matches introduce new identities to society, creating more diversity.

Abstract
Functioning of multinational corporations requires international staffing decisions, which involves, among other issues, sending expatriates to foreign subsidiaries and/or hiring inpatriates in the headquarters. The evaluation of a manager's professional competence by his/her subordinates, peers or superiors is determined, for example, by cultural stereotypes intertwined with the manager's nationality. Such an evaluation may affect the quality of cross-cultural interactions and therefore influence effectiveness of a MNC's staff. Thus the aim of this paper is to initially verify whether the country-of-origin of a manager may affect the perception of his/her professional competence. The analysis of this relationship is based on the literature review and the empirical findings from the authors' research. An experiment on management students is the research method that was applied in the study. As a result, the authors attempt to examine whether there are cultural stereotypes that ascribe higher or lower managerial competence to individuals from certain countries. The analysis may also contribute to the literature and research on liability of foreignness as well as cultural stigmatization issues. The empirical findings from the pilot study suggest that the nationality of a manager may affect the evaluation of his/her competences by other people.

A series of three experimental studies was conducted to determine the relative effects of mechanical vibration on decimal input performance. Six input panels were used, involving four basic types of controls: push buttons, toggle switches, rotary switches, and thumbwheels. Subjects were engineer/pilots who were given the task of inserting eight-digit decimal numbers. Twelve subjects were used in the first and second studies, ten in the third. The dependent measures were speed, accuracy, preference, and estimated speed and accuracy. The first study was conducted in an office environment. The second study was conducted under a control condition and 0.5 RMSg (2–30 Hz.) random vertical vibration; the third study was conducted under five levels of 2–30 Hz. random vertical vibration (0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 RMSg). No single device was best in terms of speed, accuracy, and preference. The overall effect of vibration was to degrade performance.

AbstractWord of mouth (WOM) consistency can be readily observed in online product evaluations. Previous studies on the influence of WOM consistency on purchase intentions have showed contradictory results. In this research, we identify how stronger persuasiveness of WOM is achieved when consistency, product type, and review content work together. Study 1 shows that regarding search goods, highly consistent factual reviews are more persuasive. Study 2 shows that concerning experience goods and credence goods, highly consistent experiential reviews have greater persuasiveness. However, low WOM consistency can also achieve stronger persuasiveness under some circumstances. Moreover, in Study 3, we replicate our findings and explore the possible underlying mechanism. After the drastic relaxation of voter registration requirements in the 1960s, do present state laws keep people away from the polls? More specifically, which provisions have how much effect on what kinds of people? We have answered these questions with data from the Current Population Survey conducted by the Census Bureau in November 1972.State registration laws reduced turnout in the 1972 presidential election by about nine percentage points. The impact of the laws was heaviest in the South and on less educated people of both races. Early deadlines for registration and limited registration office hours were the biggest impediments to turnout.Contrary to expectations, changing these requirements would not substantially alter the character of the electorate. The voting population would be faintly less affluent and educated; the biggest difference would be a matter of one or two percentage points. In strictly political terms, the change would be even fainter–a gain for the Democrats of less than half a percent.

There is still no broad consensus on the extent to which racial prejudice influences white Americans' political attitudes, in part because of an ongoing dispute over the nature and measurement of racial prejudice. We review measures of new, subtle forms of racism toward African-Americans and consider criticism that such views do not clearly constitute racial prejudice despite their political impact. We then evaluate a number of ways in which explicit prejudice can be assessed in surveys, highlighting the continued existence and successful measurement of overt prejudice. We also consider ways to measure prejudice other than direct survey questions. Social psychologists have gravitated to the measurement of implicit racial attitudes, an approach that we review critically as potentially interesting but with unknown payoff for political researchers. Finally, we discuss the value of experiments as a way to gain direct evidence of politically potent racial discrimination and assess the prejudicial nature of explicit racial attitudes.
