Hinsichtlich einer Sozial-, Alltags- und Mentalitätsgeschichte des Faschismus und der internationalen Dimension der "faschistischen Epoche" wird die italienische Freizeitorganisation "Opera Nazionale Dopolavoro" (OND) im Kontext der Freizeitgeschichte analysiert. Die Forschungsentwicklung von der Geschichte der faschistischen Freizeitpolitik zur Freizeitgeschichte wird nachgezeichnet. Das Verhältnis der OND zur international diskutierten Freizeitfrage und die führende Stellung der OND innerhalb der internationalen Freizeitpolitik werden untersucht.
