In response to concerns from international educators that the political discourse about foreign nationals in the United States during the course of the 2016 presidential campaign could be damaging to international student recruitment, the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers released a snapshot survey on institutional and applicant perceptions.
The Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law organized a conference on international private law in China and Europe, which was supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and the Hamburgische Wissenschaftliche Stiftung. It was initiated by China Law Unit research fellow PD Dr. Benjamin Pissler, M.A. (Sinology), hosted by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Jürgen Basedow, LL.M. (Harvard), and took place at the Institute in Hamburg on 7 and 8 June 2013.New private international law (PIL) legislation enacted in the two Chinese jurisdictions – namely, mainland China and Taiwan – has adopted terminology and a structure that is oriented on continental European conceptions, often on German approaches. Moreover, the new legislation makes apparent the two jurisdictions' increasing integration into the global economy. This is particularly relevant for legal problems that arise in business activities and require PIL for their solution. The sale of goods and personal relationships find themselves woven together at an international level and issues that arise include: Which court has jurisdiction over a given dispute? Are judgments and decisions reached before the courts of one country enforceable in another?[.] ; The Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law organized a conference on international private law in China and Europe, which was supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and the Hamburgische Wissenschaftliche Stiftung. The purpose of the paper is to present a dialectical and materialist analysis of the nation- class struggle taking place in the Olympic Movement and the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.) in particular. Benson's model of organizational and institutional change has been employed. The dialectical study of the ideology and structure of the I.O.C. elucidates possible limitations imposed upon the further development of the process of democratization in the Olympic Movement. Relations of power and control in the I.O.C. are examined in connection with the current selection system for the membership of the I.O.C. The conclusion is reached that it may be necessary to reform the I.O.C. ideology and structure in order to accommodate evolutionary progress. New criteria and standards are suggested for the selection of I.O.C. members.

This book investigates the impact of diverse cultures on the development and actualization of global economic entities, exploring advanced methods and best practices for the effective utilization and management of financial organizations within a globalized political context.
This timely book appears after a decade of scant scholarly focus on Central Europe and its place in Europe and the world. Following the big themes of the 1990s (the EU and NATO enlargement), the recent political and economic developments such as the revival of the 'Visegrad Four' and the emerging tensions as a consequence of nationalist movements across Europe, this book addresses important and provocative issues surrounding Central Europe. Is Central Europe a region and does it have its own history? Are there more commonalities than dividing lines among Central European countries? Can Central Europe be a player in global politics? Is there a special role for Central Europe in Europe? These questions have brought together a group of experts whose interdisciplinary analysis with empirical research offers a fresh insight into Central Europe's position today.

GOVERNMENTS, ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS WHO DO SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY TO INFLUENCE THE COURSE AND OUTCOME OF INTERNATIONAL NEGOTIATIONS, ARE SOMETIMES CALLED "LEADERS" OR "ENTREPRENEURS." THIS ARTICLE DISCUSSES THE MEANINGS OF THE TWO CONCEPTS. THE FIRST PART DEFINES "ENTREPRENEUR" AND "LEADER" IN GENERAL TERMS, BY REFERENCE TO HOW THE CONCEPTS TRADITIONALLY HAVE BEEN USED. THE SECOND PART ASKS HOW LEADERSHIP CAN BE EXERCISED IN NEGOTIATIONS AMONG STATES. IT PLACES THIS TYPE OF ACTIVITY ALONGSIDE OTHER, MORE ORDINARY POLICIES IN A TYPOLOGY OF NEGOTIATION BEHAVIOR. FINALLY, THE ARTICLE TAKES A CRITICAL LOOK AT IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE GROWING LITERATURE ON INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP, ARGUING THAT THEY FAIL TO DRAW A CLEAR LINE BETWEEN THE ACTIVITY OF A LEADER AND THAT OF A AGENT WHO ENGAGES IN ORDINARY BARGAINING.
O., S. 381f).
