International audience ; Everywhere policies are being developed to increase the access of the disabled to public transport. Comparative analysis of these policies is useful in two respects: content and process, i.e. what to achieve and how to achieve it. The first type of analysis is not unusual, the second type is. Given the general effort and the intensity of international contacts, it would not be strange to expect a convergence in policies but perhaps more so with regard to content than to process. Administrative traditions may differ widely between countries, There is extensive theorising on policy convergence. The essence of the theory is presented and the different policy levels at which convergence may occur are made operational for accessible transport policies. The policies of three European countries (France, the Netherlands and Switzerland) are compared at the level of policy instruments. It shows that in all these countries a range of instruments is used. But there are remarkable differences in the relative importance of these instruments. Both France and Switzerland rely strongly on legal instruments (law and regulations), but the Netherlands more on the transfer of information (not enforcing but convincing). Both the Netherlands and Switzerland support their policies with subsidies for adapting the infrastructure. France seems to present it as a national duty which regional actors have to fulfil. The effectiveness of these strategies is not assessed.

Um der gestiegenen wirtschaftlichen Bedeutung des Landes gerecht zu werden, beschloss der Nationale Volkskongress der Volksrepublik China, bis 2020 ein marktwirtschaftlich orientiertes Zivilgesetzbuch zu schaffen. Erster Schritt war der Erlass der General Rules of Civil Law im März 2017, eines neuen Allgemeinen Teils für das Zivilrecht. Im Rahmen einer Tagung der Forschungsstelle für chinesisches Recht an der Universität Augsburg diskutierten chinesische und deutsche Rechtswissenschaftler im Juli 2017 Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede der Rechtsordnungen sowie deren gesellschaftliche und politischen Hintergründe. Ein besonderes Augenmerk wurde auf die Teilbereiche Allgemeine Rechtsprinzipien, natürliche und juristische Personen, Recht der Willenserklärungen und das Haftungsrecht gelegt. Die Ergebnisse präsentiert der nun vorliegende Tagungsband. Er konzentriert sich auf verschiedene Teilbereiche der Reform und stellt diese aus chinesischer und bisweilen auch aus deutscher Perspektive dar. "From the invasion of Ethiopia in 1935 through to the waning months of the Second World War in 1945, Fascist Italy was at war. This Fascist decade of war comprised an uninterrupted stretch of military and political engagements in which Italian military forces were involved in Abyssinia, Spain, Albania, France, Greece, the Soviet Union, North Africa and the Middle East. As a junior partner to Nazi Germany, only entering the war in June 1940, Italy is often seen as a relatively minor player in the Second World War. Those who define the past control the present. 'Revising History in Communist Europe' shows how the manipulation of history both empowered and weakened the communist regimes of post-World War Two Europe. It demonstrates how seismic events of the recent past reverberate in the understandings of the present, determining perceptions and decisions. With fresh analysis on the imposed communist definition of Hungary's 1956 uprising and its effects on the definition of the Prague Spring, this study will give readers a timely and penetrating insight into both landmark events.

Whilst the 'everyday' is, of course, a temporal designator, connected to the chronology of human experience, in reality, 'everyday life' historians have often used a spatial frame to seek to understand past historical actors' everyday lives, experiences and practices. Focusing on Fascist Italy and using the example of 'bars' and the practices of consumption, political (and other) sociability, transaction and exchanges enacted within these spaces, this article explores some of the possibilities opened up by using a spatial frame to examine everyday practices and lived experiences in a dictatorial context. Thinking about 'everyday life' and the lived experience of dictatorship through a spatial lens not only requires a shift in terms of the venues that we investigate, away from classic seats and sites of formal projections of power and towards those spaces – like bars – in which the 'unofficial relations of power' were articulated and negotiated. It also prompts us to 'play with scales', as Jacques Revel put it, to examine the unit of the individual body, the street, or the city not just to identify microscopic historical practices, but to understand how macroscopic structures, processes and power relations operated at the level of the everyday and vice versa, highlighting dynamic, reciprocal relationships – between institutions and individuals, state and society, centre and periphery, and among historical actors themselves – and to examine the processes of movement between these scales of experience. In this way, through the examination of interactions and practices enacted in Italian bars, the article will explore a novel facet of the 'lived experience' of these dictatorships and demonstrate the value in understanding dictatorships as being constructed neither exclusively 'from above' or 'from below' but both between and across these units of analysis.

"Imagining Far-right Terrorism explores far-right terrorism as an object of the narrative imagination in contemporary Western Europe. Western European societies are generally reluctant to think of far-right violence as terrorism, but the reasons for this remain little understood. This book focuses on the extraordinarily complex case of the National Socialist Underground (NSU) in Germany, and high-profile instances of racist violence in Sweden and Norway. The author analyses the narratives surrounding far-right violence, drawing on a broad range of empirical sources. Her account attributes the limits of imagining violence as far-right terrorism to elite practices of narrative control that maintain positive images of the liberal-democratic order in counterpoint to its two constitutive 'others' - the far-right and racialised minorities. Situated broadly within the scholarly tradition of critical terrorism studies, the book breaks new ground in research on far-right terrorism by following its narrative traces across time, public spaces of contestation, and national borders. It also draws on material and findings on far-right terrorism originally written in German, Swedish, and Norwegian, which were previously not available in English.
