In: Swiss political science review: SPSR = Schweizerische Zeitschrift für Politikwissenschaft = Revue suisse de science politique, Band 15, Heft 4
ISSN: 1424-7755
The article introduces an issue of the journal "Swiss Political Science Review" devoted to an investigation of the nature and scope of Switzerland's integration in the European Union (EU). The special issue of the journal explores the integrative potential of new forms of network governance for Switzerland. The overarching legal and organizational determinants of Swiss-EU bilateralism are explored. The issue also devotes studies to the question of which models of external EU governance are most appropriate for Switzerland. Within these models, at the sectoral level, neighborhood associations like Swiss-EU bilateralism can be conceptualized as the external dimension of internal EU policies or as expanding sectoral policy regimes. The issue covers various aspects of relations between Switzerland and the EU, including joint policies on immigration, asylum, police and judicial cooperation covered by the Schengen association treaty.
