En este artículo se discute el espacio geográfico como producto social, el cual presenta una dialéctica entre la dimensión material y la dimensión simbólica. In this article, we analyze the first Grito Mudo or Silent Scream —a collective act of disobedience committed by the Indignados movement in Madrid´s Puerta del Sol Square in May 2011— as a glottopolitical scene. In this act, the self-summoned multitude remained silent for one minute just before midnight, when the High Court´s sentence declaring the gathering illegal was to become effective. This collective performance brings together different discursive forms (including language, silence and bodies) to conflictually challenge the normative regimes that place limits on how political participation and democracy are conceived. Glottopolitical scenes, according to Elvira Arnoux, "alter to some degree that which is automatically accepted as well as communicative routines, and force those who are involved to engage in an interpretive action that accounts for the anomalous effect that was generated". From this perspective, we analyze first how the indignados´ ritual is discursively established through the active rejection of the lettered forms that establish the political limits of liberal democracy —originating in legal discourse— according to Carl Schmitt and Walter Benjamin. We will then analyze the potencial of this gesture to shape, through its aesthetic and discursive form, a new collective political subject. The silent scream will then be analyzed in contrast with Spain´s New Year´s Eve grape-eating ritual, celebrated annually in the same urban space wrapped in similar aesthetic forms. Through De Certeau´s theory on the common´s daily political practices and, later, Turner´s theorization of "liminal states", we will explain how the Silent Scream, on the basis of its ritual condition, expresses a new political subject and democratic ideal through a series of antidisciplinary practices where the aesthetic formulations of the multitude reinterpret, loosen and circumvent the limitations of official grammar. ; En este artículo analizaremos el primer Grito Mudo, gesto colectivo de desobediencia realizado por el movimiento de los Indignados en la Puerta del Sol de Madrid en mayo de 2011, como escena glotopolítica. En esta acción, que consistió en que la multitud auto-convocada guardase un minuto de silencio justo antes de la medianoche, cuando entraba en vigor la sentencia que ilegalizaba la concentración, convergen diferentes formas discursivas (que incluyen el lenguaje, el silencio y los cuerpos) que ponen en conflicto los regímenes normativos que limitan el sentido de la participación política y los límites de la democracia. Este tipo de escenas glotopolíticas, según Elvira Arnoux, "irrumpen alterando en cierta medida lo aceptado o las rutinas comunicativas y obligan a una actividad interpretativa que dé cuenta del efecto de anomalía que generan". Con arreglo a esta perspectiva, empezaremos analizando cómo el ritual de los indignados se instaura discursivamente a través del rechazo activo de las formas letradas que establecen los límites políticos de la democracia liberal, con origen en el discurso jurídico, de acuerdo con Carl Schmitt y Walter Benjamin. Después analizaremos las potencias de este gesto para conformar, a través de su forma estética y discursiva, un nuevo sujeto político colectivo. El grito mudo, se estudiará entonces en contraste con el ritual de la Nochevieja, que se realiza anualmente en el mismo espacio urbano y cuya estética coincide en muchos puntos. A partir de la teoría de De Certeau sobre las tácticas políticas cotidianas del común y, posteriormente, de la teorización de los "estados liminales" de Turner, explicaremos cómo el Grito Mudo, en tanto que ritual, expresa un sujeto político y un ideal democrático nuevos, mediante una serie de prácticas antidisciplinarias en donde las formulaciones estéticas de la multitud reinterpretan, luxan y esquivan las limitaciones de la gramática oficial.

On Saturday July 23, 2011, Guillermo, a young student from Lleida (Catalonia, Spain), who had been camping out since the beginning of the 15M movement, arrived in Madrid after walking over 450 kilometers, in one of the six columns that had crossed the Iberian Peninsula during the previous weeks. The "Popular Indignant March"had been conceived as an original way of rounding off the occupations of hundreds of squares throughout Spain, their objective being Puerta del Sol in Madrid, the first square to be occupied. On the way, which was from the urban periphery toward the center, passing by the rural Spanish plateau, the population's claims and complaints were to be gathered and taken to the agora of the participatory democracy. The experience of having groups of people walking from different origins with a common destination evokes the classical anthropological experience of the religious pilgrimage. Spain's best example is the Camino de Santiago, which has attracted thousands of pilgrims from all over Europe since the Middle Ages. When we ask Guillermo about this parallelism, he denies any spiritual content, although his account of Camino de Sol is like the fulfillment of a civic promise, the ritualization of a festive and revindicative appropriation of the territory, the colonization of a terra incognita that they had taken over two months before, on 15M, when the hashtag #spanishrevolution became a trending topic within the social networks. The current political context in Spain is intriguing for those who study participation and political parties. The emergence of citizen activism, expressed mainly through the 15M Movement, and the political crisis of the two major political parties has led to a new and complex situation where new political parties flourish out of citizen initiatives. This paper analyses the nature and characteristics of these new political parties, and considers the impact that the proliferation of these parties is having on current democracies. The work is based on content analysis and field interviews involving almost a hundred activists and party members from three different Spanish cities.

Esta aportación se justifica en la necesidad de analizar el contenido participativo que los jóvenes interactivos transmiten en el uso de TIC y de las redes sociales durante el origen del movimiento social del 15M. Los objetivos se han dirigido a comprobar cómo los jóvenes sienten, viven y experimentan la ciudadanía democrática a través de los soportes digitales y mediáticos, participando en el lugar público de la plaza donde se está formando una más informada ciudadanía digital entre la convergencia tecnológica, la hipertextualidad y la no linealidad. Se ha tratado de identificar tanto el contenido educativo de sus interacciones e implicaciones como el uso de los soportes digitales mediáticos en su organización colectiva. La metodología utilizada es el estudio de caso en profundidad, realizado durante los días de la acampada en la plaza pública, recogiendo observaciones, entrevistas, información de las redes sociales (Twitter, Facebook, n-1 y Tuenti), noticias de los medios de comunicación así como de los medios generados en la acampada, y todas las fotografías y cartelería del evento. Desde esta perspectiva tecnoeducativa se analiza cómo estos jóvenes ensanchan sus relaciones comunicativas y se conectan en red construyendo nuevos significados de lo educativo, lo social y lo político. El análisis de sus discursos nos descubre una reapropiación de los jóvenes de las TIC participando en la comunicación pública y aportando nuevas perspectivas para la educación ciudadana. ; This contribution is justified by the necessity of analyzing the participative content that the interactive youth transmitted in the use of ICTs and social networks in the origin of the social movement of the Spanish Revolution. Our objectives have been focused on proving how young people feel, live and experience the democratic citizenship by means of audiovisual display systems, participating in public open spaces where a better informed digital citizenship is being formed among the technological convergence, hypertextuality and non linearity. We have tried to identify both the educational content of their interactions and implications and the use of audiovisual display systems in their organization as a group. The methodology we have used is the in-depth case study in the days when people occupied public spaces. We collected observations, interviews, information from the social networks (Twitter, Facebook, n-1, Tuenti), news in the media and also information, posters and photographs generated during the occupation by the participants themselves. From this techno-educational point of view we analyze how these young people widen their communicative relationships and get connected on line creating new meanings for educational, social and political issues. The analysis of their speeches shows us a reappropriation of the ICTs by these young people who express and communicate publicly and contributing in this way with new points of view for the citizenship education.

En la present tesi doctoral es desenvolupa un anàlisi sobre el moviment 15M des dels seus inicis al 2011, fins al maig del 2015, enfocat en la relació existent entre el moviment i els usos de les tecnologies de la comunicació en xarxa. Per realitzar aquest treball s'utilitza una aproximació multi-metodològica que combina anàlisi quantitativa, anàlisi de xarxes i anàlisi qualitativa, a partir d'entrevistes i un profund treball de camp. La tesi s'estructura en tres parts: l'emergència del moviment al 2011, la seva evolució i transformació fins al 2015, i els seus efectes electorals en els comicis europeus de 2014 i les eleccions municipals de 2015 a Espanya. De manera transversal, es desenvolupa analítica i conceptualment la noció de moviment-xarxa a partir de la caracterització de les diferents propietats observades del 15M, donant continuïtat així a un fèrtil camp de coneixement entorn als moviments emergents i el paper de les xarxes de comunicació, i la seva potencialitat de transformació política i social. ; En la presente tesis doctoral se desarrolla un análisis sobre el movimiento 15M desde sus inicios en 2011, hasta mayo de 2015, con el foco puesto en la relación existente entre el movimiento y los usos de las tecnologías de la comunicación en red. De manera transversal, se desarrolla analítica y conceptualmente la noción de movimiento-red a partir de la caracterización de las diferentes propiedades del 15M observadas, dando continuidad así a un fértil campo de conocimiento entorno a los movimientos emergentes y el papel de las redes de comunicación, y su potencialidad de transformación política y social. ; In this PhD thesis I develop an analysis on the 15M movement, from May 2011 until May 2015, focusing on the relation between the movement and its uses of networked communication technologies. The work recurs to a multi-methodological approach that combines quantitative, network, and qualitative analysis through interviews and fieldwork. The work is structured in three parts: the emergence of the movement in 2011, its evolution and transformation until 2015, and its electoral effects, both in the 2014 European elections, as well as in the 2015 local elections in Spain. The study develops, in a transversal way, analytically and conceptually, the notion of network-movement. More specifically, it does so through the characterisation of several observed properties of the 15M movement, giving continuity to a fertile field of knowledge currently open around movements emerging since 2011, attending to the role of communication networks, as well as to their potential for political and social transformation.

15M is a social movement originated after the social mobilizations convened on May 15, 2011, in a multitude of Spanish cities and in some cities like Paris, London, Turkey, Athens and New York, extending to Brazil and Mexico. The protests were expressed in 57 Spanish cities, as a result of public discontent and indignation. This investigation shows the process by which these social mobilizations were manifested in the neighborhood of Realejo, Granada and from a specific space of popular demonstration with political-pedagogical perspective. Method: qualitative approach using the ethnographic method with strategies of cultural-educational actions. Results: The results show how the specific cultural experiences of popular education in a neighborhood, together with participative pedagogical processes of organization (as a result of the 15M) have been configured, gradually in new political-institutional spaces in the city of Granada. Conclusion: The popular organization based on horizontal and democratic pedagogical processes has the capacity to promote mechanisms of negotiation and political decision. ; El 15M es un movimiento social originado tras las movilizaciones sociales convocadas el 15 de mayo del 2011, en una multitud de ciudades españolas y en algunas ciudades como París, Londres, Turquía, Atenas y Nueva York, extendiéndose a Brasil y México. Las protestas se expresaron en 57 ciudades españolas, como consecuencia del descontento y la indignación ciudadana. Esta investigación muestra el proceso por el cual estas movilizaciones sociales se manifestaron en el barrio del Realejo, Granada y desde un espacio específico de manifestación popular con perspectiva político-pedagógica. Método: enfoque cualitativo utilizando el método etnográfico con estrategias de acciones culturales-educativas. Resultado: Los resultados muestran cómo las experiencias específicas culturales de educación popular en un barrio, unidas a procesos pedagógicos participativos de organización (a raíz del 15M) se han configurado, de forma paulatina en nuevos espacios político-institucionales en la ciudad de Granada. Conclusión: La organización popular basada en procesos pedagógicos horizontales y democráticos tiene la capacidad de propiciar mecanismos de negociación y decisión política.

[EN] In 2011, the indignant movement put the democracy at the center of the political agenda, asking for a "real democracy now" against politicians who "do not represent us." The arrival to the municipal governments of many citizen platforms between 2015 and 2019 has been an opportunity to see different proposals for political articulation inspired by 15M. In this article, based on the trajectories of the political promoters and the enealogy of the participatory tools that were put in place, we analyze the participatory system created by Ahora Madrid and explore to what extent it translated the democratic ideals of the movement. The participatory system, with operational limits that we explore, halfway to the digital and deliberative environments, finally proposed a political alternative that offered citizens mechanisms to make proposals and set the political agenda outside the representative institutions. ; [ES] En 2011, los indignados pusieron la democracia en el centro de la agenda política, al pedir una "democracia real ya" frente a políticos que "no nos representan". La llegada a los gobiernos municipales de muchas plataformas ciudadanas entre 2015 y 2019 ha sido una oportunidad para ver diferentes propuestas de articulación política inspiradas en el 15M. En este artículo, partiendo de las trayectorias de los promotores políticos y la genealogía de las herramientas participativas que se pusieron en marcha, analizamos el sistema participativo creado por Ahora Madrid y exploramos hasta qué punto traducía los ideales democráticos de los indignados. El sistema participativo, con limites operativos que exploramos, a medio camino de los entornos digitales y deliberativos, propuso finalmente una alternativa política que ofrecía a la ciudadanía mecanismos para hacer propuestas y establecer la agenda política al margen de las instituciones representativas. ; Peer reviewed

El propósito de este artículo es analizar las consecuencias políticas del ciclo de protesta de 2011-2016 en España; es decir, el ciclo de movilización que comenzó con la movilización del 15M y los Indignados. Establecemos que existe un vínculo directo entre el ciclo de protesta y los cambios políticos que ocurrieron. Se presentan dos análisis: por un lado, la relación entre número de manifestaciones y los cambios electorales; por otro, las semejanzas entre los perfiles de los manifestantes y de los votantes de los nuevos partidos. Los cambios que más nos interesan son la ruptura del sistema bipartidista y la emergencia de nuevos partidos políticos que logran obtener representación parlamentaria. Utilizando distintos mecanismos causales, concluimos que ambos eventos se pueden interpretar como consecuencias políticas del ciclo español de protesta. ; In this paper we intend to analyse the political consequences of the cycle of protest (2011-2016) in Spain, this is, the recent cycle of mobilizations starting with the 15M indignados movement. We consider that there is a link between the cycle of protest and the political changes that have occurred. First, we run a correlation analysis between the number of demonstrations and the electoral changes. Then, we analyse the profiles of protesters and that of voters of the new parties. Our focus is set on changes such as the breakdown of the two-party system and the emergence of new political parties with parliamentarian representation. Approaching through different causal mechanisms, we conclude that both events can be analysed as political consequences of the Spanish cycle of protest.
