Background: Social participation is a fundamental right; however, restrictions often arise due to environmental barriers, both physical and social. The 'Handicap Innovation Territoire' (HIT) project aims to enhance social participation for individuals with disabilities living in Brittany, France. To gain insight into the desired areas of intervention and evaluate the HIT project, an initial experiment was conducted to assess the level of social participation and perceived environmental quality among people with disabilities. Methods: A cross-sectional investigation was performed, utilizing the Assessment of Life Habits (LIFE-H) and Measure of the Quality of the Environment (MQE). Results: Twenty-five individuals with disabilities, with an average age of 46.0 ± 23.6 years, were recruited. The results indicated an overall high level of social participation, while work, education, and leisure showed participation restrictions. The MQE scores revealed variations in the environmental perception across disability groups concerning work environment (p = 0.035), stores and services (p = 0.014), health care services (p = 0.006), education (p = 0.043), access to radio and television (p = 0.002), road accessibility (p = 0.003), and time allowed for tasks (p = 0.001). Conclusion: The study identified factors that influence social participation among individuals with disabilities living in Brittany, and highlighted the actions implemented within the HIT project to address the challenges related to social participation.

We shall start with the analysis of Claude Allègre's L'imposture climatique ou la fausse écologie, which was published in February 2010 and triggered a number of responses of all kinds in the media. C. Allègre is a well known geophysicist and former minister of education and research in the last socialist government. His climatoskeptical views were already well known and widely discussed in the media but his book appeared as the last straw. The French community of some 400 scientists, as different from each other as the disciplines and the specialities they represent, but all involved in the French branch (GIEC) of the IPCC, published a petition against the "lies" of Claude Allègre, asking their minister, Valérie Pécresse, as their employer, to reassert the scientific status and the seriousness of their work and to prevent further public diffusion of additional "lies" by Claude Allègre and his colleague, Vincent Courtillot. Allègre's crime according to the signatories of the petition is to have published under the cover of scientific background without peer control. This petition, in turn, was followed by numerous reactions in the media, generally condemning

The valorisation of university research, through the creation of high technology enterprise, is a new mission assigned to universities since the enactment of the 1999 law, known as Allègre law. Technology incubators, which are new hybrid structures, have appeared at the border of three radically different spheres: universities, businesses and governments. Their mission is to support and facilitate the marketing of technological innovations. However, because of the uncertain and hypothetical nature of innovations, they disrupt habits and routines of the industry. Incubation of these technology companies can not then be summarized to access to material resources but as has to be also considered as a negotiating process which gives legitimacy to inventions in order to be accepted by the market. We show that this process requires also access to social resources. Access of these new entrepreneurs to these resources is done mainly through social networks of the managers of the incubator, through mediation and intermediation. This mediation allows a transfer of trust, credibility and legitimacy.
