Resistance, struggle and effort bargaining are important components of everyday life at the workplace. Yet the topic of worker resistance has been given a very limited role in our theoretical models of the workplace. As a result, the study of worker resistance has remained conceptually underdeveloped. In this paper, I develop a model of worker resistance which conceptualizes four basic agendas of resistance: deflecting abuse, regulating the amount and intensity of work, defending autonomy and expanding worker control through worker participation schemes. I argue that these four agendas of worker resistance parallel forms of the organization of the labor process as characterized by Edwards (1979) and others, with deflecting abuse being most typical of direct control, regulating the amount and intensity of work being most typical of technical control, defending autonomy being most typical of bureaucratic control, and manipulating participation opportunities being most typical of worker resistance under modern participative organizations of work. Agendas of worker resistance, however, are not reducible to forms of the organization of control at the workplace and each agenda may emerge, to differing degrees, under any given form of labor control. The proposed parallelism between agendas of resistance and forms of labor control allow the development of hypotheses about both current and future developments in labor control and worker resistance.

The paper discusses the need for an interdisciplinary approach in the study and understanding of society as a whole. An interdisciplinary approach through the study of sociology and social work is a necessity for both scientific approaches in the 21st century. In the first part of the paper, we talk about society and man, as well as the subject of study of sociology and social work. We emphasize that both scientific approaches, sociology, and social work, are relatively young in the context of their establishment. The basic conceptual determinants of sociology and social work are given, as well as the places of meeting and perspectives for both scientific approaches. The first part of the paper also talks about the Chicago School as a meeting place for sociology and social work, and about the causes and consequences of divergence, between sociology and social work, within the Chicago School. In the second part of the paper, we talk about the challenges in the demarcation of sociology and social work, where we emphasize the problem of partialization of scientific fields and processes present in the so-called "identification confusion" and "jurisdiction" of scientific fields. The content on the dialectical understanding of sociology and social work is thematic, with special reference to the branches of sociological theory – social spheres, spiritual life, and management. We emphasize that there is an inseparability in understanding between social work and sociology, especially in areas such as marriage and family, gender, age, education, deviant behavior, leisure, socialization, personality, social groups, lifestyle and health, youth, regulatory mechanisms, etc. We conclude our paper with special reference to the relationship between sociology and social work from the perspective of Bosnian society.

In the last decade, research on the nature, impact and prospect of meaningful work has flourished. Despite an upsurge in scholarly and practitioner interest, the research field is characterized by a lack of consensus over how meaningful work should be defined and whether its ingredients are exclusively subjective perceptions or solely triggered by objective job characteristics. The disconnection between objective and subjective dimensions of meaningful work results in a hampered understanding of how it emerges in relation to the interplay of workplace, managerial, societal and individual relations. The article addresses this gap and introduces a novel sociological meaningful work framework that features the objective and subjective dimensions of autonomy, dignity and recognition as its key pillars. In this way, a framework is offered that analyses how meaningful work is experienced at the agent level, but shaped by wider dynamics at the structural level. ; Output Status: Forthcoming/Available Online
