Suspension of Opposition MPs in Fiji's Parliament
Fiji's new parliament that emerged in 2014 after eight years of military rule revived the prospects for parliamentary democracy in that country. However, concerns have been raised about the suspension of Opposition members of parliament (MPs). These suspensions highlight broader issues regarding executive–legislative relations in Fiji's parliament and the prospects of a robust parliamentary democracy in Fiji. This In Brief examines the MP suspensions, highlights some of the concerns that have been raised both in Fiji and abroad and considers some implications. ; AusAID

The Ideological Suspension of Žižek´s Capitalism ; La suspensión ideológica del capitalismo en Žižek
The pourpose of this work is framed in the demand to clarify the basis of capitalism that ideologically repose onto the fecund modernity´s bases. From a critical analisys of S. Žižek´s works will be implemented an analytical introspection that allow us to shed light on not only how capitalism shapes the current reality but rather the way in which it manages its limits and fixes its becoming. It will be concluded that capitalism far from being the political outcome of an arbitrary socio-economic process turns out to be the materialization of a moral awarness instant that destinated to emancipate itself is still in its beginning ; El propósito de este trabajo se enmarca en la necesidad de esclarecer la naturaleza última del capitalismo que cristaliza ideológicamente desde las bases fecundas de la modernidad.

Piezoelectric vibration solutions : Absorbers and Suspensions
International audience ; Most industrial machines present vibrations. These vibrations can lead to premature aging, mechanical failure, local noise pollution or discomfort for people working nearby vibration sources. In particular, in the naval industry, vibrations can lead to several problems such as the deterioration of acoustic stealth for military applications, non-respect of the norms limiting the radiated noises on ships or the deterioration of underwater acoustic measurements on scientific ships. To offer efficient vibration damping solutions, PYTHEAS Technology has developed several devices based on piezoelectricity materials seeking to address the weaknesses of traditional solutions. Currently, the most commonly used solution consists of adding dissipative materials, often viscoelastic ones, which convert vibrations into heat. This solution has the advantage to be simple and cheap. However, its vibration damping performances are limited and its lifetime is often reduced due to creep. Active devices form the second main solution. They present better vibration damping performances, but their cost and complexity are obstacles to their deployment. PYTHEAS Technology has developed and tested several concepts of absorbers and suspensions which allow to reach a damping coefficient (ξ) equivalent to the one of active systems (ξ>10%),while remaining simple and having more than ten years of lifetime. Furthermore, the electromechanical conversion provided by the piezoelectric effect brings additional advantages : Vibration frequency tracking if it varies over time, Damping of several modes simultaneously using only one device (gain in terms of added mass and size), Device?s fine-tuning using the electronic (reduction of manufacturing costs),. This paper is an overview of the concepts developed by PYTHEAS Technology and their potential applications.

Suspension of Imprisonment and PSR Practice
In: Probation journal: the journal of community and criminal justice, Band 43, Heft 1, S. 29-31
ISSN: 1741-3079
Probation Officers find it difficult to address suspension of sentence in their PSRs because this equates to proposing a custodial sentence. Eric Goldby, probation liaison officer at Teesside Crown Court, summarises the current law and local practice since the criterion of 'exceptional circumstances' was introduced by the Criminal Justice Act 1991, and encourages report writers to promote this sentencing option in appropriate circumstances as the only way in which some defendants can avoid immediate imprisonment.

Simulation of a Regenerative Electromagnetic Vehicle Suspension
In the last two decades, legislation that regulates carbon dioxide emissions are getting more and more stringent. In order to meet these regulations, fuel efficiency must be increased. This can be possible using devices that recover otherwise wasted energy. In this study, an electromagnetic regenerative shock absorber is analyzed. The device is capable of converting the vibrational energy, usually wasted as heat in conventional dampers, into electrical energy. The objective of this work is to develop a Matlab® model of the system in order to evaluate the gain in terms of harvested energy. The dynamic performance of the selected regenerative shock absorber integrated in the suspension system is evaluated. This includes an investigation of the ride filtering capability of the apparatus in order to highlight the behaviour in terms of comfort and handling. The influence of road roughness and vehicle speed on the aforementioned outcomes are investigated.

Design and Analysis of Wishbone Suspension System
An ATV is the vehicle which is designed to move through all terrains. We are using this vehicle for various range of purposes such as military purpose, rescue purpose during natural calamities and also for forest inspections. Suspension system of this vehicle should be strong enough so that it will give better ride quality and maximum comfort to the driver. Wishbone suspension system is selected and is designed in Unigraphics Software. A present work is focused in the field of the impact load, deformation of material, stress for ATV vehicle for improving the stability and handling of vehicle to minimizing the un-sprung mass, better durability. After designing the hard points are received and after that we selected the material to Analyze the various stresses acting upon it by ANSYS. This project aims at selecting a suspension system of ATV which will capable of handling at rough terrains.

Fracture and relaxation in dense cornstarch suspensions
In: PNAS nexus, Band 3, Heft 1
ISSN: 2752-6542
Abstract
Dense suspensions exhibit the remarkable ability to switch dynamically and reversibly from a fluid-like to a solid-like, shear-jammed (SJ) state. Here, we show how this transition has important implications for the propensity for forming fractures. We inject air into bulk dense cornstarch suspensions and visualize the air invasion into the opaque material using time-resolved X-ray radiography. For suspensions with cornstarch mass fractions high enough to exhibit discontinuous shear thickening and shear jamming, we show that air injection leads to fractures in the material. For high mass fractions, these fractures grow quasistatically as rough cavities with fractured interfaces. For lower mass fractions, remarkably, the fractures can relax to smooth bubbles that then rise under buoyancy. We show that the onset of the relaxation occurs as the shear rate induced by the air cavity growth decreases below the critical shear rate denoting the onset of discontinuous shear thickening, which reveals a structural signature of the SJ state.
