The search uses proton–proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb−1. The results of the search are interpreted in the scenario of a heavy Higgs boson with a width that is small compared with the experimental mass resolution. The Higgs boson mass range considered extends up to 1 TeV for all four decay modes and down to as low as 140 GeV, depending on the decay mode. No significant excess of events over the Standard Model prediction is found. A simultaneous fit to the four decay modes yields upper limits on the production cross-section of a heavy Higgs boson times the branching ratio to Z boson pairs. 95 % confidence level upper limits range from 0.53 pb at mH = 195 GeV to 0.008 pb at mH = 950 GeV for the gluon-fusion production mode and from 0.31 pb at mH = 195 GeV to 0.009 pb at mH = 950 GeV for the vector-boson-fusion production mode. The transverse polarisation fraction is determined to be ɼ±± (Bc+ → J/ψ Ds*+)/ ɼ(Bc+ → J/ψ Ds*+) = 0.38 ± 0.23 ± 0.07, and the derived ratio of the branching fractions of the two modes is Ɓ Bc+ → J/ψ Ds*+ /ƁBc+ → J/ψ Ds+ = 〖2.8〗_(-0.8 )^(+1.2 ) ± 0.3, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. Upper limits of 31-1020 fb at 95% C.L. are placed on the cross section for vector-boson fusion production of an H± boson times its branching fraction to W±Z. The measured parameters include the CP-violating phase φs, the decay width Γs and the width difference between the mass eigenstates ∆Γs. The values measured for the physical parameters are statistically combined with those from 4.9 fb−1 of 7 TeV data, leading to the following: ϕs = −0.090 ± 0.078 (stat.) ± 0.041 (syst.) rad ∆Γs = 0.085 ± 0.011 (stat.) ± 0.007 (syst.) ps−1 Γs = 0.675 ± 0.003 (stat.) ± 0.003 (syst.) ps−1. In the analysis the parameter ∆Γs is constrained to be positive. Results for φs and ∆Γs are also presented as 68% and 95% likelihood contours in the ϕs-∆Γs plane. Also measured in this decay channel are the transversity amplitudes and corresponding strong phases. The search is based on pp collisions at √ s = 8 TeV recorded in 2012 with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb−1 . Data are analysed in the lepton-plus-jets final state, characterised by an isolated electron or muon with high transverse momentum, large missing transverse momentum and multiple jets. Dedicated analyses are performed targeting three cases: a T quark with significant branching ratio to a W boson and a b-quark (TT¯ → W b+X), and both a T quark and a B quark with significant branching ratio to a Higgs boson and a third-generation quark (TT¯ → Ht+X and BB¯ → Hb+X respectively). No significant excess of events above the Standard Model expectation is observed, and 95% CL lower limits are derived on the masses of the vector-like T and B quarks under several branching ratio hypotheses assuming contributions from T → W b, Zt, Ht and B → W t, Zb, Hb decays. The 95% CL observed lower limits on the T quark mass range between 715 GeV and 950 GeV for all possible values of the branching ratios into the three decay modes, and are the most stringent constraints to date. The search is based on pp collision data taken at √ s = 8 TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb−1 . Three high-transverse-momentum electrons or muons are selected, with two of them required to be consistent with originating from a Z boson decay. The results are interpreted in the context of vector-like lepton and type-III seesaw models. For the vector-like lepton model, most heavy lepton mass values in the range 114–176 GeV are excluded.
