The Road Safety Authority has responsibility for co-ordinating the development of Ireland's Road Safety Strategy. The Government's road safety target of no more than 252 deaths per annum by the end of 2012 was achieved in 2009, when the number of road collision deaths in Ireland fell to 239. The reduction in the number of fatalities was achieved through robust actions in terms of education and awareness, road engineering, and enforcement, including significant legislative milestones. The challenge is now to ensure that the impact of these measures on collision levels is sustained and enhanced into the future through continuous education, enforcement and road engineering measures and initiatives. IPH welcomes the opportunity to respond to this consultation given the significant burden of injury, disability and mortality associated with road traffic collisions on the island of Ireland. IPH supports the development of evidence-based strategies and actions which can maintain a transport system, in which the safety of all road users is paramount.

The use of RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) or drones, as they are mostly known, has become very popular in recent years, for commercial and recreational use, with millions of devices sold and new users adopting the technology every year. An important pedagogical work must be carried out, to educate people in this new technology, making everyone aware of the impact in privacy, security or safety they can cause if they are not used in a responsible way. The AiRT Project will put efforts in making this educative work, developing standards for a safe and ethical correct use of RPAS flying indoor for the Creative Industries. Seeking support in current RPAS regulations that cover outdoor airspace, this document will provide references and technical means to design and implement safe RPAS operations. The aim of this deliverable is to highlight the ethics/ security, privacy and safety issues that are related to use of drones in confined spaces. ; This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement nº 732433.

The increasing proportion of women in the workforce raises a range of gender-related questions about the different effects of work-related risks on men and women. Few studies have characterized gender differences across occupations and industries, although at this time, the gender sensitive approach is starting to acquire relevance in the field of human preventive medicine. The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work has encouraged a policy of gender equality in all European member states. Italy has adopted European provisions with new specific legislation that integrates the previous laws and introduces the gender differences into the workplace. Despite the fact that gender equal legislation opportunities have been enacted in Italy, their application is delayed by some difficulties. This review examines some of these critical aspects.
