The ongoing war in Ukraine creates many challenges for religious communities in Ukraine, as armed conflict provokes the violation of human rights in any country. The article focuses on violations of Freedom of Religion and Belief in Ukraine since 2014 – in the occupied Crimea and on the occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions as well as during the first two months after the full-scale aggression of Russian Federation in Ukraine in February 2022, including the destruction of the religious sites, killings of the priests and persecution of various religious groups.

The article provides a brief overview of the most important aspects of the development of the Hunnic theory of the origin of the Bulgars in modern Bulgarian medieval studies, and examines the situation on the Balkan Peninsula immediately after Attila's death.The popular theories about the leading role of climatic factors in causing nomadic migrations, about the key importance of the Huns for the destruction of the Western Roman Empire, and about the large-scale influence of the Bulgars in the Hunnic Steppe Empire in the 5thcentury, have been disputed.

To convey the scale of destruction that Russia's invasion of Ukraine has caused to animals, plants, and ecosystems, analysts frequently use national-scale maps, aggregate figures, and the concept of ecocide. Although necessary, these moves risk portraying Ukraine exclusively as a zone of catastrophe, while obscuring the character of on-the-ground socioecological relations. This article enlarges the space for environmental narratives about war between catastrophe, heroism, and resilience by describing interspecies encounters along Odesa's Black Sea Coast, in the Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve, and in the Kharkiv Region.

Changes in the bearing capacity of frozen soils under various scenarios of warming in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF) by 2050 are considered. Deformations and destruction of buildings and engineering structures in the Russian Arctic will develop gradually. Taking into account the climatic scenarios (RCP2.6, RCP4.5, RCP8.5), in aggregate, 1/3 of the AZRF territory will experience a decrease in bearing capacity by more than 15% by the middle of the century; the Arctic coast of the European North of Russia, Yamal and the Gydan Peninsula are in the danger zone.

Abstract: The rise of digital platforms transforms contemporary warfare by enabling new possibilities for monitoring war destruction, identifying human rights violations, and commemorating individual and collective suffering. However, to achieve these aims, it is important to ensure that war-related platform content is archived and preserved. Using Russia's war in Ukraine as a case study, the article discusses challenges associated with the use of digital archiving for documenting and remembering modern wars and proposes a set of recommendations for preventing the disappearance of digital evidence of mass violence.

The article characterises the system of protection of the population, animals, natural environment and infrastructure located in the territory of the Republic of Poland against weapons of mass destruction (WMD), which include nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical weapons. The text is divided into seven parts, which discuss the types of WMD, the WMD protection system as a whole and its five components. Each section outlines the organisational and legal structure of this system and subsystems, and the tasks assigned to each of the bodies that comprise them.

In authorized cultural heritage management discourse, heritage sites can be included in local government heritage registers if their aesthetic, scientific, historic or social values are deemed significant. While notionally providing protection from major alterations and destruction for the benefit of future generations, such listings primarily serve the present generation whose values they reflect. This paper considers the role that cultural heritage places play in terms of community identity and their contribution to a sense of place, to place attachment and, by implication, to personal and community mental health.

The article explores Internet memes as a tool of information warfare in the context of Russian-Ukrainian war. Popular Ukrainian Internet memes about Russian warship, Palianytsia, Chornobayivka, chmonya and "gesture of goodwill" are analyzed. Ironic and non-aggressive Ukrainian Internet memes promote messages about the pseudo-might of "second army of the world", destruction of the "Russian world", a strong and professional Ukrainian army as well as inevitable victory of Ukraine in the war. The image of civilized, peaceful, united and invincible Ukrainian nation is also shaped by memes.

The threat of anthropocentric environmental harm grows more pressing each year. Around the world, human activities are devastating the natural environment and contributing to potentially irreversible climate change. This book explores the ways in which the International Criminal Court may effectively prosecute those who cause or contribute to serious environmental destruction. Written by an international lawyer who has prosecuted cases of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, it provides insights into the procedures, laws, and techniques capable of leading to convictions against those who harm the environment.

Cultural heritage in Cyprus has been a contentious issue throughout the island's tumultuous history. The official partition of the island in 1974, after years of conflict between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities, has resulted in the destruction and neglect of heritage sites on both sides of the Cypriot 'border'. However, in recent years there has been an increase in organisations that aim to use heritage as a tool to unite both communities. This contribution examines the work of one such organisation, the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage in Cyprus (TCCH).

This forum contribution explains how analyzing the creation, distribution, and
destruction of contemporary credit money is placed centre stage in the emerging
field of critical macro-finance. This approach not only involves traditional
forms of money but also 'shadow money': private credit instruments which are not
regulated as money from a legal standpoint, but in many respects are
functionally equivalent to 'established' forms of money. To connect different
positions in this discourse, we propose three core criteria for defining shadow
money as a baseline position for future critical macro-financial research.
