This paper presents a study of the market concept in the records of the Swedish bicameral parliament from 1867 to 1970. The study, and an underlying project, adapt a theoretical and methodological combination of history of concepts, discourse analysis and computer linguistic methods. The theoretical and methodological framework is described and discussed, including a tool for investigating linguistic representations of the market concept in the records. Results from the dimensions of productivity and agency are presented, based on working hypotheses about a change of meaning towards a more abstract and complex understanding of market over time, which also is partially supported by the findings.

Cet article s'intéresse aux rôles énonciatifs que joue le producteur-présentateur de l'émission Les Terriens du dimanche, Thierry Ardisson, lors de l'affaire Zemmour/Sy ; une affaire qui éclate suite à un commentaire fait par le polémiste Éric Zemmour sur le prénom de la chroniqueuse Hapsatou Sy. L'objectif de l'article est d'analyser l'articulation entre postures énonciatives et rôles interactionnels du producteur/présentateur de l'émission avant, pendant et après le clash. L'étude essaiera de montrer que dans son rôle de producteur, Thierry Ardisson agit en tant que sur-énonciateur ; alors que dans son rôle de présentateur/modérateur du débat, il choisit plutôt la posture d'effacement énonciatif, mais cette posture bascule, rapidement, vers une forme de sur-énonciation. L'étude s'arrêtera également sur le lien sous-jacent entre la responsabilité énonciative du journaliste et sa responsabilité éthique ; un lien explicitement évoqué par des commentateurs de différentes professions et colorations politiques.

Dissertation (Ph.D.)--University of Kansas, Philosophy, 2007. ; Jean-Jacques Rousseau is one of the most important thinkers on the topics of social freedom and inequality, and his views of these matters are typically taken to be progressive. However, Rousseau's views on women sit in tension with his philosophy of freedom and equality. On the one hand, Rousseau argues that women are naturally equal to men. On the other hand, he sees women not as potential citizens but as the servants of men. This presents the interpreter of Rousseau with something of a paradox: Rousseau is the philosopher of freedom for men and yet the philosopher of servitude for women. I will argue in this thesis that there is no paradox here if we see Rousseau as interested only in the freedom and equality of men. I shall argue thatwomen are, for Rousseau, the means to an end. In Chapter I of this project, I will show that Rousseau's sexual politics is grounded on his identity politics, or his version of essentialism. In Chapter II, I will show that Rousseau's definitive philosophical project is the restoration and maximization of man's liberty, and I will show that woman's place in Rousseau's philosophical project is with regard to the restoration of virtue and the family. In Chapter III, I will illuminate the psychological implications of Rousseau's theoretical treatise on woman in his unfinished novel Les Solitaires and Gustave Flaubert's social commentary, Madame Bovary. In Chapter IV, I will illuminate logical problems for essentialism (or identity politics) and I will propose a philosophy of liberation for women that integrates Simone de Beauvoir's account of liberty and Rousseau's various senses of liberty, perfectibilité, and pitié.

Social media, Twitter in particular, have been a tool used by politicians to voice their thoughts and make a stand. Political figures sometimes use social media, including Twitter, as an instrument to distort the face of their rivals by employing linguistic impoliteness. The present study aims to analyze some of President Donald Trump's impolite tweets. Methodologically, Brown and Levinson's (1987) model of politeness is taken as the main reference of understanding and explaining the face-threatening acts that target the addressee's face, and Culpeper's (1996) framework to classify impoliteness strategies. The data are in the form of Trump's tweets. The selected ten tweets, which represent the study material, belong to different stages of Trump's political career; they are tweeted before, during, and after Trump's presidential campaign and they target different kinds of people including (politicians, actors, athletes, journalists, writers, military men, etc.) and institutions such as (governmental sections, news channels, newspapers, journals, etc.) The results show that Trump resorts heavily to negative expressions that include offensive terms and derogatory remarks as a destructive weapon of others' self-images. His negative characteristics (racism for example) are reflected by his choice of words

Legitimacy is a crucial factor determining the success of technologies in the early stages of development and for maintaining resource flows as well as public and political support across the technology life cycle. In sustainability transitions that unfold over long periods of time, the maintenance of legitimacy of technologies identified as vital for sustainability becomes a key challenge. In the energy sector, wind power contributes to the transition to an energy system with low greenhouse gas emissions. In Germany, wind power recently faced a series of lawsuits and decreasing investment activity. Therefore, we assess the legitimacy of wind power in Germany by analyzing newspaper articles from four national newspapers from 2009 to 2018. A large amount of articles motivates the use of topic models and statistical methods to shed light on the changing alignment of wind power with its context. The results show that various issues temporarily gain prominence on the agenda. Lately, the legitimacy of wind power in Germany is increasingly challenged by adverse effects on humans, animals, and landscapes. This paper introduces the Early Chinese Periodicals Online database (ECPO), based at the University of Heidelberg. It offers a short overview of the development of this research-driven database as it grew to incorporate additional projects. Today, the ECPO hosts a variety of textual and visual sources from the Republican period (1912-1949), as well as biographical data of twentieth-century academic and political elites. We aim to show how this database can be used and extended to pursue historical network research, even for scholars previously unfamiliar with digital infrastructures. The concluding part discusses privacy concerns in data curation and management, which are increasingly relevant for studies of twentieth-century actors and limit the potential to release and reuse these datasets, especially if they pertain to the People's Republic of China's political history.

The relevance of the topic is due to the history of the concept of freedom in the Russian, Polish and Ukrainian thesauri in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Because the concept of "freedom" is important in shaping the national identities of these Slavic peoples.The aim of the article was to consider the causes of metamorphoses that occurred in the use of words and changes in the connotations of the concept of "freedom". It is determined that the development of philosophical ideas about freedom in Russia in the early nineteenth century is influenced by two contradictory tendencies: nihilistic-deterministic and religious-libertarian. It is studied that in the Soviet official philosophy and ideology the concept of "freedom" acquires ritual-official and rational-determinist meaning ("freedom as a known necessity"). In contrast, "freedom" is replaced by the concept of "freedom", which has acquired positive connotations. At the same time, the identification of "freedom" with "arbitrariness" in recent years has been a source of Russian anti-liberal discourse.Conclusions. The concept of "freedom" in literature, official documents and philosophical considerations originally had two verbal reflections "liberty" and "freedom". And the first of them actually dominated until the early nineteenth century. Its meanings were related to the influence of Polish political principles and the Ukrainian Orthodox tradition, which was spread by graduates of the Kyiv-Mohyla Collegium (Academy). At the same time, it was gradually supplanted by another word, "liberty," especially under the influence of the reaction to the events and slogans of the French Revolution. ; Актуальность темы обусловлена рассмотрением истории понятия свободы в российском, польском и украинском тезаурусах в конце ХVIII-начала XIX века. Поскольку понятие «свободы» играет важную роль в формировании национальной идентичности этих славянских народов. Целью статьи было рассмотрено причины метаморфоз, которые произошли в словоупотреблении и изменениях в коннотациях концепта «свобода». Определено, что развитие философских представлений о свободе в России в начале XIX века происходит под влиянием двух противоречивых тенденций: нигилистически-детерминистского и религиозно-либертарианского. Доказано, что в советской официальной философии и идеологии концепт «свобода» приобретает ритуально-официозного и рационально-детерминистского значения ( «свобода как познанная необходимость»). Вопреки этому вместо «вольности» появляется концепт «воли», который приобретал положительных коннотаций. В то же время, отождествление «свободы» с «беспределом» в последние годы является источником российского антилиберального дискурса. Выводы. Концепт «свобода» в русской литературе, официальных документах и философских рассуждениях первоначально имел два словесных отображения «вольность» и «свобода». Причем первый из них фактически доминировало в начале XIX века. Его смыслы были связаны с действиями польских политических принципов и украинской православной традиции, которая распространялась выпускниками Киево-Могилянской коллегиума (академии). Досліджено, що в радянській офіційній філософії та ідеології концепт «свобода» набуває ритуально-офіціозного та раціонально-детерміністського значення («свобода як пізнана необхідність»). Всупереч цьому замість «вольності» з'являється концепт «волі», який набував позитивних конотацій. В той же час, ототожнення «свободи» зі «свавіллям» в останні роки є джерелом російського антиліберального дискурсу.Концепт «свобода» в російській літературі, офіційних документах та філософських міркуваннях первісно мав два словесних відображення: «вольность» і «свобода». Причому перше з них фактично домінувало до початку ХІХ сторіччя. With outputs from the government's communication strategy and the Government Communication Service's evaluation of its role and practice, the paper uses Bourdieu's field theory to examine the changing position and status of government communicators within the political field and how this has influenced their communication practice. The findings suggest a new and enhanced role for government communicators, utilising the social capital inherent in the field. Some practitioners have moved closer to the centre of the political field because of the pandemic, with communication requirements driven by Covid-19 bringing the role of communication as a strategic management discipline to the fore. However, the increased demands for cultural capital, particularly regarding the communication of data, risk and uncertainty, together with structural changes to the field create risks to the new role and positioning of government communication in the UK.Keywords: Covid-19, government communication, field theory, strategic communication, cultural capital ***L'évolution du rôle et du statut de la communication du gouvernement britannique pendant la crise du Covid-19Résumé : Il est postulé que la crise de Covid-19 a changé le rôle et le statut de la communication du gouvernement britannique. Avec les résultats de la stratégie de communication du gouvernement et de l'évaluation par le Service de communication du gouvernement de son rôle et de sa pratique, le document utilise la théorie des champs de Bourdieu pour examiner l'évolution de la position et du statut des communicateurs gouvernement dans le domaine politique et comment cela a influencé leur pratique de communication. Les résultats suggèrent un rôle nouveau et renforcé pour les communicateurs gouvernementaux, en utilisant le capital social inhérent au domaine. Certains praticiens se sont rapprochés du centre du champ politique en raison de la pandémie et les exigences du Covid-19 ont mis en avant le rôle de la communication en tant que discipline de gestion stratégique. These features need to be considered to understand recent public relations strategies (Taylor Botan, 2004). We analyze design practices and identify the five essential features which should be taken into account in the management of public relations: 1) the aspect of (necessarily) tolerated randomness; 2) the rejection of explicit methods and theory; 3) emotions as a constant, but implicit, background disposition of practices, and as a finality via the desirability paradigm; 4) a tendency towards auto-centered working perspectives; and 5) a large share of determined logics contrasting with creative sparks. We demonstrate that these features are implicit in the discourses and practices of designers, and we confront these features with our assumption that design practices are grounded in the Dasein (referring to Heidegger, 1963/1927) of designers. These features raise management challenges. The rationalization of design practices and the democratization of design tools make design more easily realizable by non-designers like communication professionals; consequently, other communication professionals are also pushed to consider these features of design practices. In the future, design and communication professionals will collaborate even further. The results of this research represent an ongoing challenge for socioeconomic actors to ensure the effective management of public relations.Keywords: Public relations, communication, design, emotion, grounded cognition***Le tournant du design pour la gestion des relations publiques : Nouveaux défis pour les professionnels de la communication utilisant des pratiques de designRésumé : Le design en tant que profession se distingue des autres pratiques de communication par ses caractéristiques sociopsychologiques et épistémologiques. Ces caractéristiques doivent être prises en compte pour comprendre les stratégies récentes de management des relations publiques (Taylor Botan, 2004). Nous analysons les pratiques de conception et identifions les cinq caractéristiques essentielles qui doivent être prises en compte dans la gestion des relations publiques : 1) la dimension aléatoire (nécessairement) toléré ; 2) le rejet des méthodes et des théories explicites ; 3) les émotions comme préoccupation constante, mais implicite, dans les pratiques, et comme finalité via le paradigme de désirabilité ; 4) une tendance à des pratiques de travail du designer ego-centrées ; et 5) une grande part de logiques déterminées contrastant avec les étincelles créatives. Nous démontrons que ces caractéristiques sont implicites dans les discours et les pratiques des designers, et nous les confrontons à notre hypothèse selon laquelle les pratiques de design sont fondées sur le Dasein (en référence à Heidegger, 1963/1927) des designers. From the difficulties of relaying scientific information to publics and political partisanship colliding with public health interests, to the 'misinfodemic' (in particular, but not only, on social media) exacerbating the pandemic, to HR departments and managers struggling with the work-from-home dynamic: communicators around the globe were affected by, as well as affecting the repercussions of the pandemic. In this special edition, researchers from Belgium, Estonia, France, Morocco, Portugal and the UK explore impacts of the pandemic on media communication, internal and external communication of public as well as private sector organisations. They present studies and findings on the mediatisation of science, the evolving role of institutional communication, organisational spirituality, the stakeholder perspective of internal publics, the role of solidarity communication and third places in urban centres. Together, they provide a fascinating and diverse view of academic engagement with an evolving topic of local as well as global significance. The paper examines the role of social media as a platform for political propaganda and its effect on the psychology of the crowd. Social media users are expected to increase the effectiveness of the Government's propaganda in these social media and will also promote unified individual opinion following the herd's trends in society. The statistical sample of the study was conducted in Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in Vietnam, with a population of more than 10 million people. The results describe that social media, directly or indirectly, through mediating variables of government orientation, underpins the trend of crowds in society. Moreover, using social media to social interaction does not directly affect personal concepts, but this variable can indirectly increase the tendency to search and imitate majority in society through the intermediate variables of the propaganda trends.Keywords: social media, propaganda, coronavirus, herding, Vietnam***Médias sociaux, propagande politique et troupeau : une étude de cas du Vietnam sur la crise du coronavirus Résumé : La nouvelle souche de pneumonie à coronavirus (COVID-19) a causé de graves effets psychosociaux aux personnes du monde entier, en particulier dans les pays où des épidémies se sont produites, où les informations sont déjà surchargées, ont conduit à une crise du comportement économique des personnes. L'article examine le rôle des médias sociaux en tant que plate-forme de propagande politique et son effet sur la psychologie de la foule. Les utilisateurs des médias sociaux devraient accroître l'efficacité de la propagande du gouvernement dans ces médias sociaux et promouvoir également une opinion personnelle unifiée en fonction des tendances du troupeau dans la société. L'échantillon statistique de l'étude a été réalisé à Ho Chi Minh-Ville, la plus grande ville du Vietnam, avec une population de plus de 10 millions d'habitants. Les résultats décrivent que les médias sociaux, directement ou indirectement, à travers les variables médiatrices de l'orientation du gouvernement, sous-tendent la tendance des foules dans la société.
