One of the goals of the study is to analyze how urbanization and economic growth are related, identify the elements that influence a nation's urbanization, and add to the body of theoretical and empirical research on urbanization. Over the past 32 years, Tirana has undergone a number of swift and challenging transformations in the economic, social, and political arenas. The sudden transformation of the natural and populated terrain serves as a stark example of an unforeseen and novel phenomenon for Albanian society. Various researchers have confirmed this statement but no previous study has used socio-economic data to study this relationship in the city of Tirana, as a city with a promising economic development. Urbanization is linked to problems including insufficient housing, poor waste management, and insufficient infrastructure, all of which are very difficult to eradicate and control. These problems are still a battle in developed nations. Tirana and other developing cities have a much higher rate of urbanization than did the wealthy nations of today when they were first developing (Dutt and Parai, 1994). Through an examination of the causal relationships between variables and their effects on the economy, this study looks at other aspects of population migration. This study is analytical and exploratory. The research findings can support attempts to discover acceptable solutions to urban problems, particularly in Tirana and beyond, by providing an up-to-date understanding of the elements that project urbanization. The study is based on contemporary urbanization theory, which is particularly relevant in the instance of Tirana. The following ways that this study will increase knowledge are as follows: it will pinpoint socioeconomic factors that attempt to forecast Tirana's urbanization; it will develop a method to measure urbanization and economic growth through a standardized measure. The basic methods according to which such an evaluative analysis will be made are related to the correlation between the variables as well as the regression analysis. The data have been obtained from INSTAT and the World Bank for the period 1998-2019.

AbstractA common thread has emerged in recent critiques of planetary urbanization. Whether on empirical, epistemological or theoretical grounds, critics tend to posit 'difference against abstraction', arguing that planetary urbanization—as an abstract theory of large‐scale phenomena—occludes 'everyday' embodied, small‐scale and place‐based forms of social difference in its production and/or application. Here we engage with this critique as two queer, feminist scholars sympathetic both to critics' arguments about the politics of knowledge production and to the planetary urbanization framework. While we agree that the theory's most visible adherents have not systematically engaged with questions of difference, especially at smaller scales of social analysis, we reject the suggestion that planetary urbanization is inherently incompatible with such concerns. Rather, we argue that the opposite is true. Using examples from our own research, we show how the planetary urbanization framework—by enforcing a multiscalar and non‐city‐centric view of apparently local phenomena—can be central to theorizing and understanding social difference at the level of everyday life in empirical research.
"This book examines the challenges of urbanization in the global south and the linkages between urbanization, economic development and urban poverty from the perspectives of the cities in Asia, Africa and Latin America. It focuses on various aspects of urbanisation ranging from food security to public services like sanitation, water and electricity to finances of cities, and externalities associated with the urbanization process. The volume also highlights the importance of participatory urban governance for cities in India with comparative perspectives from other countries. It further focuses on the urbanization of poverty, livelihood in urban areas, overconsumption and nutrition, and ecology. Based on primary data, the chapters in the volume review trends, opportunities, challenges, governance, and strategies of several countries at different levels of urbanization, with several case studies from India. This multidisciplinary volume will be of great interest to researchers and students of development studies, sociology, economics, and urban planning and policy. It will also be useful for policy makers, think-tanks, and practitioners in the area of urbanization"--

Urbanization may be viewed as a particular manifestation of social change. As such, it is often defined as a process leading originally distinct social systems to a common destination. As an example, it is supposed to facilitate the universal emergence of a European type of nuclear family. In this perspective, many scholars have been eager to determine the extent to which African patterns of familial behavior lose their traditional specific properties. These researchers have in fact equated the problem of measuring urbanization with the problem of measuring the relative decline and persistence of traditional affiliations. Taking as examples the familial systems of two Ivory Coast peoples, the present paper intends to show some of the limitations of this type of analysis.
