The question of the poetic error is treated by Aristotle in the context of his analysis of mimesis or poetic imitation, and constitutes a key element for the adequate comprehension of his mimetic theory of art. In this article, the author demonstrates that the Aristotelian notion of poetic error acquires an artistic or poetic sense, based on relevant passages of his Poetics. The author maintains that the notion of poetic error indicates that Aristotle recognizes some degree of autonomy to art concerning politics, ethics, and science.

Analysing the contemporary migration process the author analyses the inflow of refugees to Russia over the last decade, particularly from the former republics of the USSR. Attention is also given to domestic migration, & there is a discussion of the consequences of emigration & immigration. Relying on Lawrence Wittner's research note, "Merle Curti and the Development of Peace History," which appeared in the January 1998 issue of Peace & Change, the author expands the discussion with extensive use of Curti's unpublished correspondence. The author critically analyzes Curti's publications in the field in the 1930s, his support for World War II, and his encouragement to younger scholars to continue researching and publishing in peace history as a means of advancing human civilization.

In 1997 the then new Labour Government published a Green Paper on the special educational needs on Excellence for All Children: Meeting Special Educational Needs. In a Paper which appeared in this Journal (McCall, 1998) the author considered the historical background to the Green Paper, summarised its proposals and discussed the changes it was likely to bring about in the Education of children with a visual impairment. In this Paper the author revisits the Green Paper and considers to what extent its aspirations have been achieved thus far.

The constitutional entrenchment of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms continues to generate considerable debate about the legitimacy of judicial review. The author assesses contemporary discourse surrounding constitutional adjudication by exposing the arguments of both critics & defenders of judicial review. According to the author, the debate remains marked by legal positivism, leading to the necessity to distinguish the role of a constitutional judge on the basis of more satisfying conceptions of legal judgment, separation of powers, & democracy. This article outlines the outcomes of a research carried out by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Working Conditions, on a sample of local experiences in 10 Countries in the European Union. The analysis of the outcomes show, for the author, important steps forward in the communitarian practices against social exclusion. But it also warns against the rhetoric held by the "new orthodoxy" (as the author calls the formal approach to the Partnership for Development), which fosters (instead of reducing) the marginality of the excluded.

This study analyzes the student evaluation forms at the Darden Graduate School of Business. Through structural equation modeling, the author describes the relationships between "course effectiveness" and "instructor effectiveness" constructs. Her research suggests that instructors can alter the delivery of their courses to improve the quality of their instruction. The author also suggests that administrators modify the assessment form and improve the evaluation process. The changes recommended will result in a better assessment process, more useful feedback to faculty, and an improvement in the quality of instruction.
