"Eine frühe soziologische Antwort auf die Frage danach, wie das Neue in die Welt kommt, lautet: im Wesentlichen durch Rekombination von Bekanntem. Eine auf wissenschaftliche Neuerungen bezogene Variante dieses Erklärungsmusters besagt, dass wissenschaftliche Innovationen in günstigen Fällen durch Übertragung bewährten Wissens aus einem gut beherrschten Forschungsgebiet auf ein anderes, bislang weniger gut beherrschtes Gebiet erfolgen. Grundlage hierfür ist eine angenommene Strukturgleichheit zwischen den Phänomenen der beiden Forschungsgebiete, die es erlaubt, etabliertes Wissen aus dem einen Forschungsgebiet in geeignet modifizierter Form als theoretische Innovation in das andere Gebiet zu importieren. Der vorliegende Beitrag unternimmt den Versuch, dieses Konzept auf technische Innovationen zu übertragen. Es wird argumentiert, dass im Fall technikbezogener Konzeptübertragungen die Annahme einer Problemähnlichkeit der aufeinander bezogenen Bereiche in ähnlicher Weise konstitutiv ist wie dort die der Strukturgleichheit: die Annahme nämlich, dass sich eine bereits bewährte Problemlösung für Probleme eines neuen Technikfeldes deshalb als fruchtbar erweisen konnte, weil sich die jeweils zu lösenden Probleme in relevanten Hinsichten ähneln. Ein Rekurs auf Strukturgleichheit, so wird gezeigt, kann die Analogiebeziehung im Fall technikbezogener Konzeptübertragungen dagegen nicht fundieren. Dass entsprechende Annahmen über Strukturgleichheit unter Umständen dennoch getroffen werden, ist eine scheinbare Widersprüchlichkeit, für die der Beitrag eine Antwort sucht. Die konzeptionellen Überlegungen werden anhand einer empirischen Studie über Konzeptübertragungen in der Multiagentensystem-Forschung exemplarisch veranschaulicht." (Autorenreferat)

In dem vorliegenden Aufsatz wird der Lebenslauf des Soziologen Rene König aufgezeichnet. Geboren im Wilhelminischen Kaiserreich am 5. Juli 1906 in Magdeburg, erlebte er den Ersten Weltkrieg und an dessen Ende die Errichtung der ersten deutschen Republik, die Auflösung der österreichisch-ungarischen Monarchie und die russische Revolution, das Aufkommen der autoritären und faschistischen Regimes in Ungarn, Italien und Spanien, das Ende Weimars durch die nationalsozialistische 'Machtergreifung', den Zweiten Weltkrieg und den Holocaust, die Niederwerfung des Nationalsozialismus und die Teilung Europas, den Zerfall der Kolonialreiche und das Entstehen der Dritten Welt sowie den Zusammenbruch der UdSSR und somit das Ende der Teilung Europas und damit Deutschlands. Die existentielle Basis von Rene Königs intellektueller Entwicklung zum Soziologen war die entscheidende Lebenserfahrung der 'zwangsweisen Ortsveränderung', wie er selbst das Problem der Exilierung und Emigration bezeichnet hat. Er hat diese existentielle Herausforderung angenommen und sich für ein 'Leben im Widerspruch' entschieden. Er starb am 21. März 1992 in Köln. (psz)

Abstract
Social order and social change is based on social action. All sociological theories of action agree on this assumption. Beyond that insight action theories disagree on basic notions of how action can be explained, on basic principles clarifying the selection of action and on basic motivations of action as starting point to construct theories of social order and social change. Contemporary sociology accepts the multidimensionality of theoretical approaches. Open are questions of how action theories can be differentiated, related or combined to offer analytical instruments for empirical research. The idea this essay brings forward is that the classical dualism between utilitarism (homo oeconomicus) and normativism (homo sociologicus) is transcended in support of action theories concentrating on the meaning of culture (cultural turn), communication (linguistic turn), and on creativity (dialogical turn). Integrated as a new typology these five action theories provide an analytical framework to research social order and social conflicts of modern societies.

Abstract
Although community is a core sociological concept, its meaning is often left vague. In this article it is pointed out that it is a social form that has deep connections with human social nature. Human social life and human social history can be seen as unflagging struggles between two contradictory behavioral modes: reciprocity and status competition. Relative to hunter-gatherer societies, present society is a social environment that strongly seduces to engage in status competition. But at the same time evidence increases that communal living is strongly associated with well being and health. A large part of human behavior and of societal processes are individual and collective expressions of on the one hand succumbing to the seductions of status competition and one the other hand attempts to build and maintain community. In this article some contemporary examples of community maintaining, enrichment and building are discussed. The article concludes with a specification of structural conditions for community living and a short overview of ways in which the Internet affects these conditions.

Abstract
Social capital, comprising networks, generalized trust, and cooperation norms, is often considered a key factor in promoting prosperity and cooperation. Informal norm enforcement also drives cooperation. While early theories of social capital and norm enforcement propose that networks encourage sanctions, strong reciprocity theory argues that sanctioning non-cooperation is a universal preference. In the lab, people uphold cooperation through sanctions without networks, but this occurs only in regions characterized by high trust levels and strong cooperation norms outside the laboratory. Are trust, cooperation, and enforcement linked in the field, and if so, what are the generative mechanisms? In two neighbourhoods of Bern, one high in social capital and one low, we linked indicators of social capital and expected norm compliance from resident surveys (N = 466) with cooperation, measured with the lost-letter technique (N = 240), and norm enforcement, measured with reactions to transgressions of the antilittering norm (N = 123). Cooperation and indirect enforcement were more prevalent in the high social capital neighbourhood. Direct enforcement was rare in both neighbourhoods. The less optimistic expectations of cooperation and norm compliance prevalent in the low social capital neighbourhood can potentially explain the lower levels of cooperation and norm enforcement.

"Subjektivität der Beschäftigten ist nicht eindimensional als Reaktion auf unternehmerische Vorgaben und Anforderungen, oder als marktliche Einverleibung von Kreativitätspotentialen zu fassen, sondern sie weist als 'Eigensinn' der Subjekte darüber hinaus. Sie hat eine emanzipatorische, auf das 'ganze Leben' bezogene Dimension. Das Phänomen der Subjektivierung verstanden als Eigensinn der arbeitenden Subjekte ist nicht etwas komplett Neues. Zum einen war Eigensinn (Selbständigkeit/ Selbstorganisation) der Subjekte immer notwendig, damit Arbeitsprozesse im Sinne der Kapitalverwertung überhaupt funktionieren konnten; zum anderen sind die Arbeitenden den Widersprüchen, die aus dem Produktionsprozess erwachsen, nie passiv ausgesetzt, sondern sie führen im Arbeitsalltag immer auch einen impliziten Kampf um die Aneignung ihrer Arbeit und ihrer Selbsttätigkeit. Neu ist, dass die Subjektivität der Beschäftigten zum Produktivitätsfaktor des unternehmerischen Handelns wird. Es gibt eine breite soziologische Debatte zur Subjektivierung, die allerdings einige markante Leerstellen enthält, die im Referat herausgearbeitet werden sollen. Es sind beispielsweise: a) die unterschiedlichen Ebenen, Triebkräfte und Formen der Subjektivierung von Arbeit empirisch weitgehend ungeklärt, b) die Kriterien des 'Eigensinns' der Subjekte und der eigensinnigen Subjektivierungsleistungen der Subjekte offen und c) die emanzipatorische, auf die Aneignung des 'ganzen Lebens' bezogene Dimension von Subjektivierungsprozessen ist mehr als unscharf. In arbeitspolitischer Perspektive stellt sich die Frage, ob die durch Vermarktlichungsprozesse in den Unternehmen induzierte Subjektivierung dem Selbständigkeitsbedürfnis der ArbeitnehmerInnen entgegenkommt und ob darin auf das 'ganze Leben' bezogene Aneignungschancen enthalten sind. Insbesondere die geschlechtersoziologische Perspektive macht Paradoxien deutlich, die im Referat diskutiert werden sollen." (Autorenreferat)

Den Debatten über Aufgabenstellung, Funktion und Leistungsfähigkeit der DDR-Soziologie, die seit 1989 durch Schlagworte wie 'staatsdienende Wissenschaft', 'ideologisch ausgerichtete Wissenschaft', 'Legitimierungsinstrument des Systems', etc. gekennzeichnet sind, stehen Aussagen der Soziologen gegenüber, die seit den 50/60er Jahren die DDR-Soziologie mitbestimmt haben. Diese bewerteten die DDR-Soziologie eher als entmündigte und der ständigen strikten Kontrolle und Zensur durch Instanzen des Partei- und Staatsapparates ausgesetzte Wissenschaft. Auf dieser Grundlage versucht der Beitrag, diese grundsätzlich verschiedenen, jedoch wahren Bewertungen der soziologischen Forschung in der DDR zu diskutieren. In diesem Zusammenhang interessiert besonders die Frage, ob aus dieser Erörterung der osteuropäischen Soziologiegeschichte Anregungen für eine Diskussion des Zusammenhangs von Ethik und Wissenschaft zu gewinnen sind. Basis für die Überlegungen sind unveröffentlichte Qualifizierungsarbeiten und 'Schubladenmanuskripte' aus der DDR und die Entwicklung der sowjetischen Soziologie in der Zeit von Perestroika und Glasnost. In der neuen Situation des vereinten Deutschlands und mit dem rasanten Umbau der DDR-Gesellschaft stellt sich nun das Problem der zu schnellen Adaption der DDR-Soziologie an gängige theoretische Bezugsrahmen ohne kritische Überprüfung. Abstract Emil Durkheim published The Division of Labour in Society as part of his strategy to create a place for sociology as a science independent from economics. The book describes how social cohesion and cooperation evolve spontaneously in the course of the process of the division of labour. Friedrich Hayek developed a theory of markets and competition which was later extended into a theory of society, in which spontaneous evolution is a central element. The main force behind this process is competition and the evolution of coordination. Both authors address the problem of social stability. Hayek rejects Durkheim's analysis as constructivistic, but his criticism is unjustified. Further analysis reveals many similarities between the two authors theories of societal evolution. A striking point of convergence is that Hayek's theory of markets is a network theory, and that sociological network theory is directly inspired by Durkheim's work. The main differences are Hayek's emphasis on the division of knowledge and on coordination as the fundamental stabilising forces as opposed to Durkheim's stress on the division of labour and cooperation. The network approach, together with an elaboration of Hayek's psychology, offer perspectives for integrating coordination and cooperation into a unified theory of social stability.
