The analysis uses data collected in 2012 with the CMS detector, at an LHC center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb-1. No significant deviation of the transverse mass distribution of the charged lepton-neutrino system from the standard model prediction is found. Mass exclusion limits of up to 3.28 TeV at 95% confidence level for a W'-boson with the same couplings as that of the standard model W-boson are determined. Results are also derived in the framework of split universal extra dimensions, and exclusion limits on Kaluza-Klein WKK(2) states are found. The final state with large missing transverse energy also enables a search for dark matter production with a recoiling W-boson, with limits set on the mass and the production cross section of potential candidates. The search targets final states with at least two leptons, large missing transverse momentum, and two jets with a large separation in rapidity. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at √ s = 8 TeV collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. The observed dijet invariant mass spectrum is found to be consistent with the expected standard model prediction. Upper limits are set on the cross sections for chargino and neutralino production with two associated jets, assuming the supersymmetric partner of the τ lepton to be the lightest slepton and the lightest slepton to be lighter than the charginos. For a so-called compressed-mass-spectrum scenario in which the mass difference between the lightest supersymmetric particle χe 0 1 and the next lightest, mass-degenerate, gaugino particles χe 0 2 and χe ± 1 is 50 GeV, a mass lower limit of 170 GeV is set for these latter two particles ; In addition, we gratefully acknowledge the computing centres and personnel of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid for delivering so effectively the computing infrastructure essential to our analyses. The article deals with the formation of cultural identity in modern Ukrainian family, analyzes the role of family socialization features. Considerable attention is given to cultural and educational potential of the family and its influence on the cultural identity formation. Process of identity formation is always largely determined by the specific socio-cultural factors which were shaped by centuries of historical development. Family as a social institution deserves priority attention among those fundamental factors. Family – first principle of society. It is a certain social group in which most individual characteristics of the parents , their children and other family members showed through their behavior and personality development which are formed with self-knowledge, self-actualization and socialization of its members. Family by its characteristics is a social structure that goes through various stages of growth and development and through improved performance of its functions. It enriches the treasury of material and spiritual values of the people. The material and moral responsibility of family members to each other and to society is the main feature on the basis of these theoretical studies , modern family has to become a key element in the individual`s education and socialization. Proceeding with historical and modern conceptions of identity, a person in the epicenter of culture, is the highest spiritual value which becomes it`s spiritual essence and a part of humanity. The person develops it through culture. The cultural essence of personality is the backbone component of its integrity. Cultural values in the socio-cultural sphere are achieved by the beliefs of humanity that were formed and still continue to grow in the transformation of the socio-historical situation. The succession of generations is a process of mutual transfer, assimilation, storage and use of material and spiritual values, social information and experience of previous generations where the family plays an important role. The family in Ukraine fells under the influence of transformation of socio-cultural and political processes and transformations. They reflect on it and led to significant changes in their functioning. Socio-economic conditions of life appear in the relationship: increasing conflict, collapsing the established ethical principles of operation of the complete family. Dysfunctions increased in economic, legal and moral vulnerability of families, reducing their role in the socialization and education of children. This affects today's youth significantly. This effect is motivated by emotion, culture, internal rules and possibilities of family resources. However, the modern Ukrainian family does not realize it`s great educational potential. It depends on many social factors , especially economic life marked both positive and negative trends. This feature needs detailed analysis of trends, opportunities and constraints for the implementation of the educational potential of Ukrainian families. It ensures the development of the individual in the modern world. Therefore, the study of socio-cultural and psycho-educational situation in the family upbringing of the young generation has to become a basis for further development of public policy in education. The content of individual's education in modern Ukrainian family should be integrated into national and humanist culture of the people in Intercontinental area. Content of education should reflect and establish the highest national and universal value orientation in the minds of modern and young people: spiritual, cultural, humanistic, ethical, aesthetic, physical, social and labor. It should also reflect the practice of modern Ukrainian family in the independent state. Based on these theoretical studies, the modern family is a major element in the education of contemporary identity and in shaping its culture. In Ukrainian family, it`s ideas were always clearly distinguished and rooted in the depths of people's life, minds, work and creativity. At all times ideals of the family were the highest and most sacred for our people. Family was considered to be a fundamental principle of human life, a kind of fortress, which provided development and protection of personality's best qualities, including: labor as the most complete form of expression and creativity of human capabilities, sources of wealth and pleasure; spirituality as a synthetic form of understanding the world and ourselves in the same high moral dimension of creative and humane attitude to the environment and people. Ukrainian family has to cultivate such qualities of character and personality characteristics as: respect for parents and family devotion, commitment to mutual support , formation of national consciousness and identity, love for the land and people, formation of high language culture, respect the culture, customs and traditions of the peoples who inhabit the Ukraine, and the peoples of the world. Family has to look after their national dignity, honor, inner freedom, pride for their land and the people. The principles of all mankind and public morality – truth, justice, patriotism, kindness, diligence, humane treatment of the environment, a comprehensive and harmonious development of the individuals. Based on the above, we can say that social and cultural values are instilled and transmitted from generation to generation, and modern Ukrainian family plays the most substantial role in shaping of cultural identity and socialization. ; В статье рассмотрено формирование культуры личности в современной украинской семьи, проанализировано роль семьи в социализации личности. The purpose of the article to follow the historic stages of the rapprochement between Chinese-east and uropean-west music area in last century, till the diffusion of the cultural stimulus in creative activity Tan Dun and other epresentatives of the Orient in European cultural space.The declared subject is determined by sum of the postavant-garde cultural wave of modernity where the ntegrative factors "Orient-West" occupy the significant place. In music world Tan Dun, chinese gеnius in european cоmpоser system of self-expression symbolizes deep diffusion of corresponding to cultural quality.The value of the chinese influence on French was displayed by C. The results are obtained from a simultaneous fit to the reconstructed invariant mass peaks in the two channels and for the two experiments. The measured masses from the individual channels and the two experiments are found to be consistent among themselves. The search uses 20.3 fb−1 of s√=8 TeV data collected in 2012 with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Events are required to have at least one jet with pT>120 GeV and no leptons. Nine signal regions are considered with increasing missing transverse momentum requirements between EmissT>150 GeV and EmissT>700 GeV. Good agreement is observed between the number of events in data and Standard Model expectations. The results are translated into exclusion limits on models with either large extra spatial dimensions, pair production of weakly interacting dark matter candidates, or production of very light gravitinos in a gauge-mediated supersymmetric model. The Wave (or, alternatively, the Four Waves) theory authored by Professor David Rapoport is among most widely cited theories giving «whys» and «hows» on complex problem of the root causes and transformation of terrorism. According to this theory, since the 1880s «modern terrorism» has moved through four consequent stages (waves) all of them being of global scale and each one being informed by the influence of a certain political and/or ideological impulse: anarchist wave; anti-colonial wave; «New Left» wave; and religious wave. All waves, Rapoport argues, last approximately forty years; all of them display internal homogeneity of political or ideological principles, strategy and tactics. According to Rapoport, even those terrorist organizations that emerge in the context alien to a dominating impulse are at least partially transformed by it (e. g., turning to tactical methods that appear with the arrival of a new wave of terrorist violence).Rapoport's theory may seem to be thorough and well-grounded theoretical construction, and it is understandable why it has gained wide recognition in academic circles. However, as one discovers after a critical in-depth analysis, this initial favorable impression is mistaken for the most part. To start with, highly objectionable is the very idea of universal political impulses (by definition external to the absolute majority of local political conflicts) being capable of somehow «overriding» solid inner logic and dynamics even of those local conflicts that do not belong to a current wave. Introducing the idea of a wave-forming world impulse and ignoring the key role of local political factors in the genesis and/or transformation of terrorist organizations Rapoport, one might say, lapses into something that can be called «political mysticism». Rapoport also does not give any convincing evidence of direct connection between particular political (ideological) impulses and specific terrorist tactics which further undermines his assertions of terrorist violence taking form of clear-cut uniform waves.The author has already published an article (from which some of aforementioned positions were borrowed) containing general critical observations on basic tenets of the Four Waves theory. The goal of the present article is to «narrow the focus» and test the Rapoportean theory against the particular case of so called homegrown jihadism (i. e. Islamic terrorism perpetrated mostly on the European soil by those Muslims who either were born in Europe or have been living there for a long time). Rapoport proposed his theory early in the 2000s, before European jihadism became clearly visible and highly dangerous phenomenon, and homegrown jihadists are never mentioned in Rapoportean writings. While it leaves the door open for the doubts about prognostic potential of the Four Waves theory, it is not this author's main intention to criticize Rapoport for his failing to see a new danger coming. As it is demonstrated in the article, testing Rapoport's suggestions against the case of homegrown jihadism first of all points at the already established fundamental weakness of the Four Waves theory. This weakness is in its inability to convincingly explain why and how different historic types of terrorism emerge and what forces behind particular cases of terrorist violence are. Even if Rapoport's theory included European jihadists, it still would be impossible to trace the genealogical link (except the trivial everything-is-connected-to-everything domino effect) between homegrown jihad (which by definition falls within the framework of the fourth, or religious, wave of terrorism) and those events Rapoport cites as the impulse driving this wave. In other words, it is one more example of «political mysticism» to argue that extremist ideas and terrorist actions of the 21st century Muslim youths in Britain or Netherlands could be sufficiently explained by connecting them to the events of the Iranian revolution or the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan (both dating back to1979). What else, except such «mysticism», could explain how that 1979 impulse retained its power to inform somebody's actions after 35 years and completely outside the original historical and geographical context? Yet, if we were to accept Rapoport's arguments, we should have favor these very explanations while ignoring such factors as political marginalization of the significant share of European Muslims and the growth of xenophobia on the part of non-Muslim Europeans, cultural alienation of young European Muslims and – to name some foreign impulses – not chronologically and psychologically distant events of the late 1970s but the U. S. invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq in the early 2000s, the Arab Spring and the Syrian civil war. ; На материале т. н. европейского «доморощенного джихадизма» в статье подвергается критике известная волновая теория трансформации терроризма, выдвинутая Д. We present a measurement of the Z boson differential cross section in rapidity and transverse momentum using a data sample of pp collision events at a centre-of-mass energy s=8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb?1. The Z boson is identified via its decay to a pair of muons. The measurement provides a precision test of quantum chromodynamics over a large region of phase space. In addition, due to the small experimental uncertainties in the measurement the data has the potential to constrain the gluon parton distribution function in the kinematic regime important for Higgs boson production via gluon fusion. The results agree with the next-to-next-to-leading-order predictions computed with the FEWZ program. The first direct search for lepton-flavour-violating decays of the recently discovered Higgs boson (H) is described. The search is performed in the H???e and H???h channels, where ?e and ?h are tau leptons reconstructed in the electronic and hadronic decay channels, respectively. The data sample used in this search was collected in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of s=8 TeV with the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb?1. The sensitivity of the search is an order of magnitude better than the existing indirect limits. A slight excess of signal events with a significance of 2.4 standard deviations is observed. The p-value of this excess at MH=125 GeV is 0.010. The best fit branching fraction is B(H???)=(0.84?0.37 +0.39)%. A constraint on the branching fraction, B(H???)>1.51% at 95% confidence level is set. This limit is subsequently used to constrain the ?–? A search for a narrow, high-mass resonance decaying into Z and Higgs (H) bosons is presented. The final state studied consists of a merged jet pair and a ? pair resulting from the decays of Z and H bosons, respectively. The analysis is based on a data sample of proton–proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, collected with the CMS experiment in 2012, and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb?1. In the resonance mass range of interest, which extends from 0.8 to 2.5 TeV, the Z and H bosons are produced with large momenta, which implies that the final products of the two quarks or the two ? leptons must be detected within a small angular interval. Results are reported of a general search for pair production of heavy resonances decaying to pairs of hadronic jets in events with at least four jets. The study is based on up to 19.4 fb?1 of integrated luminosity from proton–proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC. Limits are determined on the production of scalar top quarks (top squarks) in the framework of R-parity violating supersymmetry and on the production of color-octet vector bosons (colorons). First limits at the LHC are placed on top squark production for two scenarios. The first assumes decay to a bottom quark and a light-flavor quark and is excluded for masses between 200 and 385 GeV, and the second assumes decay to a pair of light-flavor quarks and is excluded for masses between 200 and 350 GeV at 95% confidence level. A search is performed for heavy Majorana neutrinos (N) using an event signature defined by two muons of the same charge and two jets (?±?±jj). The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb-1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. No excess of events is observed beyond the expected standard model background and upper limits are set on |V?N|2 as a function of Majorana neutrino mass mN for masses in the range of 40-500 GeV, where V?N is the mixing element of the heavy neutrino with the standard model muon neutrino. The limits obtained are |V?N|2>0.00470 for mN=90 GeV, |V?N|2>0.0123 for mN=200 GeV, and |V?N|2>0.583 for mN=500 GeV. Five mutually exclusive searches for supersymmetry are presented based on events in which b jets and four W bosons are produced in proton–proton collisions at s=8 TeV. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb?1, were collected with the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC in 2012. The five studies differ in the leptonic signature from the W boson decays, and correspond to all-hadronic, single-lepton, opposite-sign dilepton, same-sign dilepton, and ?3 lepton final states. The results of the five studies are combined to yield 95% confidence level limits for the gluino and bottom-squark masses in the context of gluino and bottom-squark pair production, respectively. It provides precise predictions for measurable quantities that can be tested experimentally. The probabilities, or branching fractions, of the strange B meson (B-s(0)) and the B-0 meson decaying into two oppositely charged muons (mu(+) and mu(-)) are especially interesting because of their sensitivity to theories that extend the standard model. The standard model predicts that the B-s(0)->mu(+)mu(-) and B-0 ->mu(+)mu(-) decays are very rare, with about four of the former occurring for every billion B-s(0) mesons produced, and one of the latter occurring for every ten billion B-0 mesons(1). A difference in the observed branching fractions with respect to the predictions of the standard model would provide a direction in which the standard model should be extended. Before the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN2 started operating, no evidence for either decay mode had been found. Upper limits on the branching fractions were an order of magnitude above the standard model predictions. The CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) and LHCb(Large Hadron Collider beauty) collaborations have performed a joint analysis of the data from proton-proton collisions that they collected in 2011 at a centre-of-mass energy of seven teraelectronvolts and in 2012 at eight teraelectronvolts. Here we report the first observation of the B-s(0)->mu(+)mu(-) decay, with a statistical significance exceeding six standard deviations, and the best measurement so far of its branching fraction. Furthermore, we obtained evidence for the B-0 ->mu(+)mu(-) decay with a statistical significance of three standard deviations. Both measurements are statistically compatible with standard model predictions and allow stringent constraints to be placed on theories beyond the standard model. The LHC experiments will resume taking data in 2015, recording proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 teraelectronvolts, which will approximately double the production rates of B-s(0) and B-0 mesons and lead to further improvements in the precision of these crucial tests of the standard model. ; We express our gratitude to colleagues in the CERN accelerator departments for the excellent performance of the LHC. A search for resonances and quantum black holes is performed using the dijet mass spectra measured in proton-proton collisions at √s = 8 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb-1. In a search for narrow resonances that couple to quark-quark, quark-gluon, or gluon-gluon pairs, model-independent upper limits, at 95% confidence level, are obtained on the production cross section of resonances, with masses above 1.2 TeV. When interpreted in the context of specific models the limits exclude string resonances with masses below 5.0 TeV; excited quarks below 3.5 TeV; scalar diquarks below 4.7 TeV; W' bosons below 1.9 TeV or between 2.0 and 2.2 TeV; Z' bosons below 1.7 TeV; and Randall-Sundrum gravitons below 1.6 TeV. A separate search is conducted for narrow resonances that decay to final states including b quarks. The first exclusion limit is set for excited b quarks, with a lower mass limit between 1.2 and 1.6 TeV depending on their decay properties. Searches are also carried out for wide resonances, assuming for the first time width-to-mass ratios up to 30%, and for quantum black holes with a range of model parameters. The wide resonance search excludes axigluons and colorons with mass below 3.6 TeV, and color-octet scalars with mass below 2.5 TeV.
