Le problème de la dette extérieure occupe une place centrale dans la vie économique et politique argentine depuis les années 1970. L'augmentation de la dette extérieure à partir de la dernière dictature militaire et la fuite de capitaux locaux à l'étranger sont deux aspects d'un même processus : la prédominance de la valorisation financière comme axe central des relations économiques depuis la fin du modèle d'industrialisation substitutive qui avait été en vigueur jusqu'au milieu des années 1970. L'article analyse les différentes étapes de l'évolution de la dette extérieure, ainsi que ses répercussions économiques et sociales en Argentine.

The psychological aspect of life in society appears as a major collective issue which, going beyond politics and psychiatry, concerns society as a whole. This new "social question" cannot be separated from the weighty issues and representations that psychiatry carries with it, either in the industrialized countries of the Northern Hemisphere or in the countries of the South. Psychiatry, subject to a continual process of profound working and reworking owing to its ambitions to find meaning, has since its inception been at the core of debates relating to society.

Kleist's Penthesilea so shocked contemporary readers that the writer insisted: "She really did eat him, Achilles, out of love." Indeed, the oral aspect of Penthesilea's destruction of Achilles is sometimes overlooked, an omission this article seeks to address. I argue that by radically conflating oral appetites, the figure of Penthesilea disawows Englightenment culture in three respects: the ideal of feminine modesty; aesthetic values that posited woman as an object of appreciation rather than an agent of aesthetic taste; and the Enlightenment's social contract, which subordinated bodily appetites to the interests of the community.

Résumé L'auteur commence par décrire les techniques de fabrication des estampes et situe les estampes dites « d'artistes » par rapport à celles de reproduction artistique. D'abord il propose une typologie des marchands en fonction de leur biographie, des espaces commerciaux et des situations de transaction. L'organisation sociale de ce marché se lit à travers l'existence de statuts professionnels qui viennent complexifier la notion de « marchand ». Ces statuts, fondés sur des critères économiques, sociaux et symboliques, mais aussi les conventions qui encadrent le jugement esthétique constituent les deux aspects essentiels de ce type de commerces.

The Chilean transition to democracy was simultaneously a political issue that raised numerous conflicts, & an intellectual & scientific issue. Under these two aspects, "transitologists" (on the one hand professionals of social sciences specialized on the transitological mainstream, & on the other hand political actors familiarized with this specialized literature) resorted to rational resources being taken from transitology studies in order to address politically & to approach intellectually the transition process. The concept of life-style seems to have been thoroughly naturalised, both academically and in common parlance. There is little critical interrogation of what life-style involves, beyond its connection to cultural and aesthetic aspects of consumption. What are the implications of accepting this culturalised description of consumption and its shorthand designation, 'lifestyle'? This polemical paper interrogates both the linguistic and conceptual challenges associated with the term, and argues that it acts to efface and erase important social differences of wealth, opportunity, class, gender and ethnicity, as well as obscuring global and historical inequalities.

Conscript military service is a pivotal experience for young Israelis of both genders. Juxtaposing conflicting claims concerning women's military experience—the women's marginalization claim and the youth moratorial self-enhancing claim—we compare men's and women's retrospective evaluations of six aspects of their service in the Israeli army: hardship, adaptation, motivation, investment, service significance, and personal benefits. Military service was found to be as meaningful and benefiting for women no less than for men. However, the dynamics of the moratorium experience differ by gender, in keeping with the differentiated substance and gendered social construction of their military roles.

This article focuses on Erich Fromm's life & work from the mid-1950s to the late 1960s & examines the utopian aspects of his political thought, including his ideas of positive freedom. Through a systematic inquiry into Fromm's social & political thought, the article aims to illustrate the history of utopian thought in the twentieth century in general & the basic assumptions of psychological utopianism in particular. It is argued that Fromm's image of the 'Sane Society' & his promotion of Socialist Humanism share more features with imaginative utopian thought than with empirical political theories. The design of commercial products that are intended to serve millions of people has been a challenge for collaborative approaches. The creation and use of fictional users, concrete representations commonly referred to as 'personas', is a relatively new interaction design technique. It is not without problems and can be used inappropriately, but based on experience and analysis it has extraordinary potential. Not only can it be a powerful tool for true participation in design, it also forces designers to consider social and political aspects of design that otherwise often go unexamined.

The objective of the present research was to establish, in general terms, the provenience of certain pottery styles dating to the Middle Horizon which are known to the Southern Highlands, Cuzco region. The specific goal was to determine which of these ceramic styles were made in other regions and brought to Cuzco and which were imitations locally manufactured, and to compare their patterns of production and distribution with those of local ceramic styles. These data, in turn, being helpful for understanding some aspects of the social, economic and political dynamics of the Middle Horizon period at Cuzco.

Militantism is a social activity with both individual & dynamic aspects, & therefore must be considered in terms of its temporal dimension. No effort is made to propose a model, but leads for constructing one are suggested, based on models used in research into a cure for AIDS. How the concept of career, an analysis of individuals' reasons for action, the reconstruction of typical paths that can be connected to life history data, & an examination of disengagement & uncommitted individuals could assist in the development of such a model of individual commitment is considered.
