This is an article accepted for the inaugural edition of The Victorian, an online peer-reviewed scholarly journal examining all aspects of the Victorian period, social, cultural, political and aesthetic. The article considers Morris's preference for the romance form rather than the novel – the main fictional form of the period - in the context of Morris's socialism and socialist ideals more generally. It aims to show how his interest in the literary romance can be regarded as an extension of his political praxis and how the romance and Morris's socialist ideals are both interested in the possibility of transformation and the significance of hope as a radical experience

Gender equality and empowerment of women as one of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), as well as to uncover the reality of inequality and discrimination against women in social, economic, educational, legal and other aspects. This study aims to analyze the empowerment of women (women empowerment) in Soppeng, South Sulawesi Province. Analyzer used the descriptive analysis. The data used are secondary data from the Local Government Soppeng, which are then analyzed descriptively based on a gender perspective. Descriptive analysis showed that the education sector, the economy, and the public sector is more dominated by men than women, so that women's participation is still low.

This article challenges some fundamental propositions of property rights theory by revealing the inability of new institutional economics to fully grasp the notion of property, as reflected in its narrow and problematic definition of property rights. The concept of property relations is proposed as better suited to capture the social and institutional aspects of property. By reconsidering the case of the Montagnais, originally used by Alchian and Demsetz for illustrative purposes, and drawing on the works of Polanyi and McManus, we show that the historical explanation of the emergence of (private) property rights provided by Alchian and Demsetz is flawed.JEL Codes: D02, D23, P14

Our new stance to comprehensive control of security in the international context is based upon the so-called "wider security concept". Despite various definitions,there is the consensus that a national state is not the only security subject, the classical paradigm was extended to other areas, outside military one: political, economy, financial, banking, environmental, and social. They are endorsed by security problems related to technology, energy, raw material sources, ethnical disputes, religion, together with humane rights and cultural aspects. To win the war is easy, to establish peace is difficult. Last but not least, we now have to fight and win the war of public opinion.

In June 2011 the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation established the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, with the objective to advance human rights and support the Member States' efforts to consolidate civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. This report provides an introduction to the new human rights commission, presenting the background to its establishment, its objectives, activities and experts, as well as its relation to the international human rights community and its conception of human rights. The report concludes by discussing some of the potentially problematic aspects of the Commission, as well as some of its strengths, seen from a Danish perspective.

The purpose of this work is to identify the positive and negative aspects of parties- participation in the country-s modernization, which in turn, will help a country to determine the necessary steps to improve the social-economic development. The article considers a question of the role of the dominating party of Kazakhstan and ruling party of China in the country-s modernization. Using a comparative analysis reveals differences between the People's Democratic Party "Nur Otan" and the Communist Party of China. It is discussed the policy of carrying out of modernization, the main actions of political parties of both countries with a view of modernization implementation.

The amount of data in our world today is substantially mammoth. Many of the personal and non-personal aspects of our day to day activities are aggregated and stored as data by both businesses and governments. The increasing data captured through multimedia, social media, and the Internet of Things is a phenomenon that needs to be properly examined. In this article, we explore this topic, and analyse the term data ownership. We aim to raise awareness and trigger debate for policy makers around data ownership and the need to improve existing data protection and privacy laws and legislation at both national and international levels.

Данное направление дополняется также рассмотрением политического, экономического, нравственного аспектов указанной проблемы. Обосновывается мысль о том, что формирование экологического самосознания выходит в общественном сознании на первый план, в том числе и с точки зрения гуманитарного подхода к проблеме. ; The author considers the question of ecological problems research in social philosophy in axiological sense, elaborates this direction with the consideration of the political, economic and moral aspects of the indicated problem, substantiates the idea that ecological consciousness formation in public consciousness comes to the fore, particularly in the context of the classical approach to the problem.

Children''s literature affects the child''s socialisation process, including the shaping the gender roles. But despite this, up to now children have featured less in gender scholarship. Against this backround, this paper seeks to critically interrogate the physical, social, economic and political manifestations of masculinities in selected Kiswahili children\''s books from Kenya. By analysing these works, we hope to demonstrate that power and ideological aspects of masculinites are rooted at childhood. Since special attention will be paid to the ideological and power basis of the masculinities, the analysis of the selected works is done in the encompassing prism of Critical Discourse Analysis revealing hegemonic masculinities.

Reception studies in Classics are, as Lorna Hardwick (2003:iii) remarks in the preface to her recently published survey, changing rapidly. They include the study of translations, adaptations and performances of ancient Greek and Latin texts. This article concentrates on the reception of only one genre of Greek literature in South Africa and cannot pretend to deal with it exhaustively. Nevertheless the examination of a substantial number of translations, adaptations and productions of Greek tragedies in this country in the twentieth century reveals a continuing fascination with these classics. It also discloses aspects of the social, cultural and political circumstances of the milieu in which they were reinterpreted.

This is because the issue of insecurity permeates all aspects of human endeavor and serves as a fundamental panacea to any societyes growth and development. More so, it is tied to every societyes social, political, economic and cultural growth. Consequently, the paper addresses the fundamental issue of the \management of insecurity. and its impact on national growth and development by taking a paradoxical perspective of the Nigerian context within the globalized world. Thus, in all entirety, the issue of security is now becoming a policy mantra to every existing nation.

This article aims at discussing e-government website usability in relation to concerns about digital inclusion. E-government web design should consider all aspects of usability, including those that make it more accessible to all. Traditional concerns of social exclusion are being superseded by fears that lack of digital competence and information literacy may result in dangerous digital exclusion. Usability is considered as a way to address this exclusion and should therefore incorporate inclusion and accessibility guidelines. This article makes an explicit link between usability guidelines and digital inclusion and reports on a survey of local government web presence in Portugal.

This article aims to describe the performance of political parties in pilkada. Pilkada as an integral part of local government system is expected to accelerate the ripening process of democracy in local level. In the event of elections (pilkada), political parties in a hurry and prioritize the aspects of winning candidates and provide tickets for candidates who have a chance to win. This article focused to describe the phenomenon of "the big man" at local elite's recrutmen whom have a big social capital. This phenomena minimize local elites in local politic and creates political transaction in local politics. The findings indicate that political party has been part of this phenomenon.

Expressive isomorphism is characterized as the process through which national uniqueness is standardized so that expressive culture of various nations, or of social sectors within them, comes to consist of similar expressive forms and stylistic elements. Expanding on Meyer, the presence of pop-rock music in world culture is discussed as a major manifestation of expressive isomorphism. This is done by looking at these aspects of pop-rock music: electric instrumentation, ritual classification, ritual periodization, diffusion of styles and genres, legitimation discourses, and the emergence of ethnic rock. Following Bourdieu, a sociological account that focuses on recognition and status concludes the article.
