En Colombia la apropiación e innovación de la tecnología y su inclusión en el currículo se realizó a través de la Ley General de Educación No. 115 en 1994. En 2008 el Ministerio de Educación Nacional presentó la Serie Guías No. 30, un documento en el cual se presentan las orientaciones generales para la educación en el área de Tecnología e informática. El presente trabajo busca dar cuenta de las percepciones de los docentes y estudiantes de cuatro instituciones participantes en el proyecto Centros de Innovación Educativa Regional–Centro, en relación con una intervención pedagógica que se llevó a cabo en el área de Tecnología e informática. Se trata de una investigación de corte mixto que busca determinar las representaciones sociales siguiendo la teoría propuesta por Moscovici, como consecuencia de la necesidad identificada de dar cuenta de "lo que saben", "lo que creen" y "lo que sienten" quienes participan de las intervenciones pedagógicas propuestas por los entes gubernamentales. El trabajo indagó acerca de las percepciones de maestros y estudiantes de grados décimo y undécimo de cuatro instituciones de Bogotá y Cundinamarca, en tres momentos: antes, durante y después de la intervención pedagógica. Antes de comenzar la intervención, se llevaron a cabo grupos focales de docentes y entrevistas grupales con los estudiantes; cuando ya estaba en marcha la intervención, se diseñó una encuesta que fue aplicada de manera periódica a los estudiantes y grupos focales. Finalmente, después de la intervención se organizaron dos grupos focales, uno de docentes y otro de estudiantes, y se aplicó la encuesta. Los resultados de las percepciones de docentes y estudiantes permiten dar cuenta de los aspectos positivos y a mejorar de la intervención, lo que es interesante con miras a nuevas propuestas educativas de innovación tecnológica en el país. Los estudiantes destacan como competencias desarrolladas la solución de problemas y el trabajo en equipo; además, consideran que hubo un cambio evidente y positivo en la manera cómo se llevó a cabo la clase. Por su parte, los docentes manifiestan mayor propiedad al hablar de las competencias en el área de Tecnología e informática contempladas en la Serie Guías No. 30 y de las estrategias que utilizaron para desarrollarlas. Tanto a estudiantes como a profesores les gustó la metodología de trabajo por proyectos y manifestaron la necesidad de cambiar las condiciones en lo referente a la infraestructura, los recursos tecnológicos, los espacios, la conectividad, el tiempo del que disponen para la clase y la cantidad de estudiantes. ; Abstract. In Colombia the appropriation and innovation of technology and its curriculum integration it has been made through the General Education Law No. 115 in 1994. In 2008 the Ministry of National Education presents the Guide Series No. 30, a document in which the general guidelines for education in the area of Technology and computing are presented. Therefore, this paper seeks to account for the social representations of teachers and students from four institutions participating in the project "Regional Innovation Educational Centers-Center area", in relation to an educational intervention that took place in the Technology and computing area. It is a mixed court investigation that seeks to determine the social representations following Moscovici's theory, as a result of the identified need to account for the categories: "what they know", "what they believe "and "what they feel", applied to the participants of educational interventions proposed by government entities. The work inquired about the perceptions of teachers and students of tenth and eleventh grades from four institutions of Bogota and Cundinamarca in three stages: before, during and after the educational intervention. Before starting the intervention, focus groups of students and teachers, and group interviews with students were made. During the intervention, a survey was designed and applied periodically to students and focus groups. Finally, after the intervention two focus groups, one of teachers and one of students, were made and the same survey was applied. The perceptions of teachers and students allowed to account for the positive aspects and to improve some aspects of the intervention, which is useful for new forward-looking educational proposals of technological innovation in the country. Students highlighted that they developed problem solving and teamwork skills; also, they considered that there was an evident and positive change in the way the class was conducted. Meanwhile, teachers show greater knowledge to speak about the competences of Technology and computing area referred to in the Guide Series No. 30 and the strategies used to develop them. Both students and teachers liked the project's work methodology and expressed the need to change the current conditions in the institutions in terms of infrastructure, technological resources, spaces, connectivity, time available for the class and number of students. ; Maestría

RESUMEN: Este estudio pretende analizar y evaluar libros de texto destinados a la etapa educativa de Educación Primaria, concretamente en el área de Ciencias Sociales, pero en su adaptación al programa bilingüe, por tanto, se tratan materiales destinados a la asignatura de Social Sciences. El objetivo es el de analizar y comparar la evolución de estos materiales, tanto en términos de aplicación dentro del aula como su adaptación al enfoque AICLE, la metodología más relevante en lo que educación bilingüe se refiere. Por este motivo, es necesario contextualizar tanto el marco legislativo relativo a los programas bilingües como los principios metodológicos de AICLE. Con la investigación que aquí se presenta se pretende sentar las bases para mejorar este tipo de materiales, poniendo el énfasis en aquellos aspectos fundamentales para el aprendizaje integrado de contenidos y lengua que en ocasiones los libros de textos no tienen en cuenta. ; ABSTRACT: This study aims to analyse and evaluate textbooks intended for the Primary Education stage, specifically in the area of Ciencias Sociales, but in their adaptation to the bilingual programme, therefore, it deals with materials intended for the subject of Social Sciences. For this reason, it is necessary to contextualise both the legislative framework relating to bilingual programmes and the methodological principles of CLIL. To understand both the methodological debate and the denominations assumed by the opposing sides, it is important to understand the historical difference between the United States, where the "scientific" line of analysis was born, and Europe, the cradle of the "classics." This approach gives priority to the study of problems considered important over the mere concern of methodological aspects. We argue that this debate between "scientists" and "classics" took place fundamentally in the definition of what was understood by political science and only incidentally in relation to international relations or international studies and sociology. The debate did not reach greater significance outside the United States because in Europe and Latin America international studies derived from history or law. ; Para comprender tanto el debate metodológico como las denominaciones que asumieron los bandos en pugna es importante comprender la diferencia histórica entre Estados Unidos, donde nace la línea de análisis "científica", y Europa, la cuna de los "clásicos". Este enfoque da prioridad al estudio de los problemas considerados importantes sobre la mera preocupación de los aspectos metodológicos. Sostenemos que este debate entre "científicos" y "clásicos" se dio fundamentalmente en la definición de los que se entendía por ciencia política y solo incidentalmente en lo referente a relaciones internacionales o estudios internacionales y sociología. El debate no alcanzó mayor trascendencia fuera de los Estados Unidos debido a que en Europa y América Latina los estudios internacionales derivaron de la historia o del derecho.

Transitioning into a sustainable energy system is becoming ever more pressing as the reality of an anthropogenic ecological crisis becomes difficult to ignore. Due to the complexity of the matter, proposed solutions often address the symptoms of the current socioeconomic configuration rather than its core. To conceptualise possible future energy systems, this Perspective focuses on the disconnect between science and technology and engineering studies. On the one hand, this disconnect leads to social science research that passively critiques rather than contributes to tackling societal issues in practice. On the other, it produces technical work limited by the incumbent conceptualisations of economic activity and organisational configurations around production without capturing the broader social and political dynamics. We thus propose a schema for bridging this divide that uses the "commons" as an umbrella concept. We apply this framework on the hardware aspect of a conceptual energy system, which builds on networked microgrids powered by open-source, lower cost, adaptable, socially responsible and sustainable technology. This Perspective is a call to engineers and social scientists alike to form genuine transdisciplinary collaborations for developing radical alternatives to the energy conundrum.

FThe raison d'être of cities is, and always has been, the accumulation of capital. Even so, scholarship on literary renderings of the urban has focussed primarily on poverty and thus contributed to a somewhat one-sided perception of the social inequalities shaping today's cities. For the sake of a more balanced reading of such inequalities, this essay first reviews work on urban wealth in other fields, before probing into the "fantastic conspicuousness of consumption and affluence" (Baudrillard 25) purportedly characterising modern cities. It argues that conspicuousness is only one aspect of urban wealth, which in actual fact is subject to a neoliberal politics of subterfuge ensuring that capital concentrations are always spectacle and well-screened privilege at once. Drawing on Andrea Brighenti's theorisation of (in)visibility as a social category, I explore how this politics plays out in the dramatic encounters of urban rich and poor orchestrated in the novels Saturday (2005) by Ian McEwan, The Unknown Terrorist (2006) by Richard Flanagan, and The White Tiger (2008) by Aravind Adiga. In doing so, I show how three otherwise radically dissimilar texts advance very similar ways of seeing urban wealth that a reading focussed solely on disadvantage and abjection cannot reveal.

Using the representations of the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross in the media, this article retrieves the Cathedral's role in public life in Zambian church history in order to tease out its significance in post-independence Zambia. In drawing on a case study and social capital theory, the article shows that the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, as a pre-independence religious building, was represented as a national house of worship, a heritage site and a political shrine. By this, it was a national worship space that played a role in hosting functions of varied nature, and a symbol of religious heritage. As a political shrine, the Cathedral was a space for guiding the nation and fostering reconciliation in the critical political moments of the country. These representations not only revealed the dynamics of the church's role, but also closely aligned to the Cathedral's social capital in public life through the intersection of the church and state relations in post-independence Zambia. The article argues that the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, although not a popular aspect of Zambian contemporary church history, was a religious, material cultural site and a space that allowed the church to contribute to post-independence church history in the country.

The publication of Directive 2014/95/EU represents an important milestone related to the disclosure of non-financial information. This fact together with the role of the corporate governance guide firms towards achieving of an ethical, transparent, and responsible behavior. To contribute towards the understanding of this issue, this study investigates the relationship between corporate governance mechanisms and corporate social responsibility disclosure, namely, in corruption aspects relating to Directive 2014/95/EU. In so doing, a multiple regression analysis was carried out on a panel data sample of 198 European listed firms that are part of the EuroStoxx 200 index, in a studied period from 2014 to 2017. The findings reveal that outside directors and CEO duality impact positively and significantly on corruption disclosure. Therefore, this paper contributes to the existing research on corporate social responsibility disclosure, specifically, to the corruption disclosure literature by studying the corporate governance mechanisms that enhance these practices. ; This research was funded by the University of Castilla-La Mancha, in the form of a research group which is called "External and Internal Information Systems of Organizations: Corporate and Management Information (GISEIO)" co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.

Two decades of work delivering health care in poor communities provide a standpoint from which to challenge conventional doctrines in human rights and public health. These orthodoxies include the priority often assigned to civil and political rights over economic and social rights and a narrow concept of cost-effectiveness in public health policy. An analysis based on economic and social rights underscores, for example, that effectively treating infectious diseases in poor communities requires ensuring that people receive adequate food. The challenge of maternal mortality in low-income settings similarly shows the need for an approach to rights that is simultaneously comprehensive and pragmatic. In many settings, paying community health workers for their efforts on behalf of their neighbors can also be seen as a critical strategy to realize rights. Across contexts, the yield on the expanded and pragmatic view of health and human rights adumbrated here may be considerable. In forthcoming issues, Health and Human Rights will continue to investigate the conceptual, but above all the practical aspects of such issues, seeking to shift the health and rights agenda in a way that may make sense to the world's poor and marginalized, the chief victims of contemporary human rights violations. This work explores the theoretical development of the virtual public sphere (EPV, as per its Spanish acronym). To respond to it, the article focuses mainly on: the genesis of the public sphere, the publications in social networks and the biographical suture, the double status of the public sphere, the tension between value in use and value in exchange, the virtual aspects of the EPV, and a brief appendix on trolls and post-truth. The EPV is an approach to interactions on the web that was developed within the framework of a PhD thesis, to study the demonstrations against the open-air mega-mining project promoted by the government of the province of La Rioja and the company Canadian Osisko Mining Corporation. This research uses the case study "Do not touch The Famatina" to review the construction of EPV. ; Este trabajo indaga en el desarrollo teórico de la esfera pública virtual (EPV). According to the WHO data from May 2022, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a global health crisis with more than 515 million infected and over 6 million deaths as a result of COVID-19. Just over 11.5 billion vaccines have been administered to prevent severe disease and mortality from SARS-CoV-2 infection. In addition to that, COVID-19 had dramatic effects on all aspects of the society, including the fundamental factors of its functionality - education and health, preventing the continuity of its "normal" functioning. Crisis management measures have had more or less successful results in different countries, but no health system has been able to fully address the effects of the pandemic on the health of the population. The course of the epidemiological crisis and the success of the implementation of global vaccination measures are directly related to the adaptability of individual societies / its capacity to change and adapt. in analyzing the situation and predicting the course of the pandemic. Analytical ability, reliability of prediction, but also flexibility of legislative and executive power, are the most prominent parameters of a society that is ready for the unpredictability of the course and outcome of the global social crisis caused by the pandemic. In the local concept of the development of higher education until 2030, it is necessary to include the mentioned, global principles of adaptability to crises in all spheres of social activity. One of the most powerful instruments of social understanding is education, and here lies the potential of society to adapt and change in order to adapt to the challenges of the modern world through the acceptance of values and norms based on knowledge.

Unravelling the mechanisms of daily diplomacy in the mid-20th century, this book follows one Dutch diplomatic couple, the van Kleffens, on their postings from the 1930s to the 1950s to offer a new perspective on how non-officials and personal politics shaped the postwar world. Combining private and public source materials, Erlandsson foregrounds the political culture of diplomacy and highlights events and people which have been left off the official record. The book integrates the detailed study of behind-the-scenes diplomatic practice into the larger narrative of traditional diplomatic history, connecting social practices with political outcomes. Exploring how women s tea drinking was used to achieve post-war foreign policy and how Rosa, a Guatemalan cook, contributed to the international standing of the Netherlands, it offers a more inclusive history by recognising the diplomatic work done by actors who were not diplomats. In doing so it demonstrates the ways in which diplomacy was class-bound, gendered and racialized, and proves that historicizing gender and cultural norms is crucial to understanding political and international history

This handbook articulates how sociology can re-engage its roots as the scientific study of human moral systems, actions, and interpretation. This second volume builds on the successful original volume published in 2010, which contributed to the initiation of a new section of the American Sociological Association (ASA), thus growing the field. This volume takes sociology back to its roots over a century ago, when morality was a central topic of work and governance. It engages scholars from across subfields in sociology, representing each section of the ASA, who each contribute a chapter on how their subfield connects to research on morality. This introductory essay to the HSR Special Issue "Economists, Politics, and Society" argues for a strong field-theoretical programme inspired by Pierre Bourdieu to research economic life as an integral part of different social forms. Its main aim is threefold. First, we spell out the very distinct Durkheimian legacy in Bourdieu's thinking and the way he applies it in researching economic phenomena. Without this background, much of what is actually part of how Bourdieu analysed economic aspects of social life would be overlooked or reduced to mere economic sociology. Second, we sketch the main theoretical concepts and heuristics used to analyse economic life from a field perspective. Third, we focus on practical methodological issues of field-analytical research into economic phenomena. We conclude with a short summary of the basic characteristics of this approach and discuss the main insights provided by the contributions to this special issue.
