AbstractCollaborative governance has become prevalent in public service provision as both government and nonprofit sectors face pressure to solve multidimensional social problems in communities while improving performance. Drawing on collaborative governance and homeless services literature, this article explores how providing services in a collaborative governance network through government and nonprofit service providers differentially relates to multiple dimensions of performance—effectiveness, internal efficiency, social efficiency, and service heterogeneity—at the community level. By using a two‐way fixed effects estimator and a unique nonprofit and homeless services dataset, the findings indicate that collaborative governance between government and nonprofit service providers relates to increased effectiveness (e.g., less homelessness), and mixed results for service heterogeneity relative to using one sector. The composition of collaborative governance networks matters for performance, but its precise relationship with community‐level performance depends on the specific aspect of performance.

Abstract: Children, including those who are deaf, become aware of and learn about their environments through playing and social and cultural interactions. For most deaf children, preschool classrooms are optimal spaces for these interactions to occur, but only if they can fully engage with this environment. We discuss the need for and constituent aspects of full access to learning in these environments for deaf children. Vygotsky's sociocultural theory is employed chiefly as the basis for exploring and analyzing useful strategies for educators and families of deaf children. Our analysis focuses on processes in which individuals create knowledge through interacting with other people and the environment, a core emphasis of our work. We also discuss that, concomitant with full access to linguistic and social opportunities, deaf preschoolers develop a stronger sense of self, which leads to the development of cultures and languages in and out of their families.

Wie können Kooperationen zwischen Diakonie und Kirche gelingen? Neben zahlreichen Gemeinsamkeiten und Verknüpfungen weisen beide sehr unterschiedliche Systemlogiken auf. Aus theologischer und sozialwissenschaftlicher Perspektive werden organisationale und interaktionale Aspekte von Diakonie und Kirche analysiert und die Gemeinwesendiakonie als kooperativer Kontext betrachtet. In zwei empirischen Studien werden anschließend die Kirchenkreissozialarbeit und ein gemeinwesendiakonisches Förderprojekt untersucht. Dabei werden unterschiedliche Typen gelingender Kooperationen herausgearbeitet. Es wird deutlich: Wo Diakonie und Kirche zusammenarbeiten, werden sie zu wichtigen Gestalterinnen in der Zivilgesellschaft. [[Cooperation between Diaconia and Church]] How can cooperation between diaconal institutions and church succeed? Besides numerous similarities and links, both actors have very different system logics. From theological and social scientific perspectives, organizational and interactional aspects of diaconia and church are analyzed and community diaconia is considered as a cooperative context. Subsequently, two empirical studies examine Kirchenkreissozialarbeit (social work of a church district) and a community diaconia support project. Different types of successful cooperation are identified. It becomes clear that where diaconal institutions and church cooperate, they become important shapers in civil society.

Very young children increasingly use information and communication technologies (ICTs) in their home and educational environments. The study examined representations of ICT use in children's television content, which is a central socialization agent for this audience. Based on cultivation theory, an in-depth qualitative content analysis of television series for young children aired in Israel was conducted. Findings indicate that ICTs are depicted in this content as largely positive, promoting community connectedness and problem resolution, and as effective innovations for the dissemination of information. At the same time, these portrayals ignore common ICTs in children's lives (e.g. social media) as well as social and emotional aspects associated with ICTs in the real world (e.g. entertainment use). Promising themes in the representations—such as the promotion of free, intuitive, and successful use of ICTS—are coupled with findings that question the realism and relevance of these representations for young audiences.

This article introduces a dataset on the covert use of social media to influence politics by promoting propaganda, advocating controversial viewpoints, and spreading disinformation. Influence efforts (IEs) are defined as: (i) coordinated campaigns by a state, or the ruling party in an autocracy, to impact one or more specific aspects of politics at home or in another state, (ii) through media channels, including social media, by (iii) producing content designed to appear indigenous to the target state. Our data draw on more than 1,000 media reports and 500 research articles/reports to identify IEs, track their progress, and classify their features. The data cover 78 foreign influence efforts (FIEs) and 25 domestic influence efforts (DIEs) – in which governments targeted their own citizens – against 51 different countries from 2011 through early 2021. The Influence Effort dataset measures covert information campaigns by state actors, facilitating research on contemporary statecraft.

In complex societal contexts, resilience seems the only way to survive and prosper. This is even truer when considering the present COVID-19 pandemic and its detrimental effects on global health systems and on every aspect of life. The impact was so deep that the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global emergency on 30 January 2020. Accordingly, governments declared border closures, travel restrictions, and quarantines in the world's largest economies, also giving rise to socio-economic recessions. There is wide literature on the pandemic's impacts on people's minds and societies, yet still few studies have investigated this topic holistically, examining how language shapes both human and social sides of COVID-19's impacts. To fill this gap, this work discusses the need for new metaphorical clusters—bricolage, vicariance, and exaptation—as social sense makers to reframe a positive socially resilient response after COVID-19.

The work highlights the importance of resilience as a current and multifaceted problem that reflects on the lives of adults and children. The aim of the study is not only to reveal the essence and meaning of resilience, but also the influence of resilient factors in dealing with difficult situations. Different aspects of the resilience are considered. Preconditions for the development of resilience are created in pre-school age. In the context of resilience development, two types of resourses are emphasized: personal and social. The article focuses on the protective, resilience factors and on the role of the family and the social environment in the perfecting of childrenʹs resilience-skills. In this context communication and collaboration between the family and teachers in the educational institutions is very valuable. Adults create conditions for the development of resilience skills in children that help the overcome challenges in life.

Abstract
India has the highest number of Instagram users in the world. This article examines Instagram, the mobility, and the digital media practices of Delhi Metro commuters before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, it looks at their photography of everyday lived experiences, their mediated interactions with one another, and the visible-invisible infrastructure in the city. It draws attention to the complexity of digital production, personal archiving, and circulation networks at play. Foregrounding the changing 'geographies of social media', a qualitative, digital ethnographic approach analyses these images' visual, social, and contextual aspects. Also, a range of convergent practices related to individuals, places, and socio-cultural-political-economic-technological realities influence the images. Eventually, a narrative emerges on how these metro travellers inhabit offline and online public spaces, exchange cultural capital, and perform the affective, mediated negotiation of the city.

Psychological phenomena have long been a focus of research on democratic deliberation, particularly concerning policy knowledge and attitudes and other issues addressed in conventional scholarship on political psychology. Yet in recent years, the subject matter of psychological research on deliberation has expanded to include a wider array of issues, ranging from lay conceptualizations of deliberation, to phenomena not foregrounded in traditional political psychology scholarship, including emotions, social identity, communication goals, relational schemata, and social learning. This essay summarizes key findings from prior research on psychological dimensions of deliberation, and then delineates recent deliberative scholarship that explores a broader range of psychological phenomena. Finally, this essay introduces the six new articles that make up this special issue. These articles offer novel theoretical and empirical insights on a number of current themes concerning psychological aspects of deliberation, while expanding knowledge concerning established areas of inquiry.

This
paper aims to analyze the perception of the state in the writings of early
Muslim intellectuals, particularly al-Farabi, al-Mawardi, Nizam al-Mulk,
al-Ghazzali, Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Khaldun. All of these six intellectuals have
a massive contribution in developing Muslim or Islamic political thought. This paper
intended to find the answer of following questions regarding the concept of
state from their writings: firstly, the debate around the birth of state;
religious or social need? Secondly, if it is a social need, then what about the
aspect of religion in the state? Finally, what about the influence of existing
politics on their thought? This research is a qualitative form of research
based on both primary and secondary data. It is hoped that this paper will
contribute to the academia by analyzing the perception of state of Early Muslim
intellectuals within the present context.

Whereas most sociologists consider sexuality a social construct, the general public tends to view it in more essentialist terms. This tendency is commonly manifested in the idea of sexual drives as internal overpowering biological forces guiding human sexual behavior. To counter this narrative, sociologists William Simon and John H. Gagnon introduced a concept of sexual scripts to demonstrate the social underpinnings of sexuality and the narratives surrounding it. Drawing on their insights, I used the popular phenomenon of "Netflix and Chill" to teach students about the socially constructed nature of human sexuality. During class time, I ask students to put together a sexual script—step-by-step instructions—on how to successfully complete Netflix and Chill. This activity teaches students about the learned aspects of our sexual behavior and is effective both for in-person and online learning environments.

This study aims to determine student perceptions of democracy in the city of Maumere. The research method used in this study is qualitative in the form of case study research through data collection techniques, participant observation techniques, interviews and documentation. The findings of this study are: First, the implementation of democracy in various aspects of the Maumere community, namely the implementation of civil liberty rules, the implementation of political rights for every community and the development of democratic institutions (institutional democracy) in government and society. civil. Second The condition of civil society freedom in Maumere can be seen from the relatively high level of freedom of association and assembly of civil society organizations, civil society organizations that appear in every social structure of society. The three factors that influence democracy in Maumere consist of: community welfare factors, social and political factors, civic culture and historical roots.

Background: The outbreak of Covid-19 virus in various countries has caused a lot of very significant changes. This Covid-19 outbreak has had profound impact on various aspects of life, from an economic, political, social perspective, and especially in terms of public health, especially in Indonesia. The symptoms caused by the Covid-19 virus are not only focused on physical health, but also affect psychological health. Goal: To prove that mental health affects immunity system.Methods: Systematic review.Result: The lower positive attitude, lack of social support, poor strategies in reducing the spread of virus, working with Covid-19 infected patient, causes high levels of stress. Conclusion: Prolonged stress and anxiety is decreasing body's immune respons, thus making the body susceptible to disease. Este trabajo sostiene que los efectos catastróficos de la Pandemia COVID-19 en países dependientes y dominados por las metrópolis del capitalismo global, como México, se agravan por el colonialismo interno que reproduce el neo-imperialismo internacional. Por ello, las políticas públicas en contra de la pandemia y sus desastrosas consecuencias sociales deben enfocarse en el combate y superación del colonialismo interno. En este trabajo nos centraremos particularmente en los aspectos culturales, cognoscitivos y políticos del colonialismo interno. ; This work argues that the catastrophic effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on countries dependent on and dominated by global capitalist metropolis, such as Mexico, are aggravated by the internal colonialism and neo-imperialism. Therefore, public policies against the pandemic and its disastrous social consequences must focus on overcoming internal colonialism. This paper will focus particularly on the cultural, cognitive and political aspects of internal colonialism.

The paper presents John Rawls positions on social justice and political liberalism, namely thus two theoretical standpoints later served to develop one of the currents in the theorizing of deliberative democracy. Adhering to the definition of public reason and procedures for building consensus on the public good, Rawls in his early and later works developed a concept of political decision-making that takes into account the optimality of the solutions offered and the full legitimacy of the policy-making process. The current inspired by theories of deliberative democracy has been widely criticized for its political approach, which does not show sensitivity to the sociological aspects of policy-making and political decision-making. This is especially true of the way he postulates his two principles of social justice as impartiality and the expectation on sociologically naive pedestals to form and accept the rules of deliberation.
