Purpose: The present paper seeks to examine the enrolment and dropout percentage of children in India, supported with empirical findings up to secondary level. Although, the study is general in nature, but the emphasis has been laid on the girl child education, which is one of the greatest concerns in the Indian school education sector. Some of the aspects studied include, enrolment and dropout of children during the period of study, under both boys and girls category, their corresponding growth rate in enrolment, their corresponding decline rate in dropout and many other allied aspects.Scope: The study is confined to secondary level education and the findings have direct bearing on the Indian school education system. Given the population size of India and the socioeconomic conditions of the country, there is a need to observe caution, while generalizing the findings for other countries.Methodology/Approach: The present study is purely based on the analysis of secondary data retrieved from the official website of the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Govt., of India. The data lasts for the decade 2001-02 to 2010-11 and was retrieved on October 02, 2014. Since the data on the website stands up-dated up to the year 2010-11, as such the findings simply reflect a trend in the enrolment and dropout percentage in India and may show variation by the time figures are updated.Findings: The study reveals that during the period of study, the enrolment percentage of girls has improved over two fold to that of boys. As, compared to 18,17% increase in the overall enrolment of boys, the enrolment percentage of girls increased by 40,52% during the decade. The corresponding growth surely reflects the changed mindset of male dominated Indian social setup towards the girl child. Even, the average annual dropout percentage of girls remained better to that of boys, as the girls recorded a corresponding decline in their dropout percentage by 3,53%, while as in case of boys the dropout percentage declined by 2,54% annually. Despite all these positives, the discouraging part is that compared to 57,39% boys, 60,39% girls' dropout by or before reaching the upper primary level and against 78,40% boys, 81,72% girls' dropout by or before reaching the secondary level.Social Implications: Given the new and changed world order, no country can afford to remain elusive of basic formal education, what is commonly known as elementary education and so holds true of India. The study is a positive indicator of the growing awareness among Indian masses towards the promotion of girl child education, but still there is lot yet to be done to reduce the dropout percentage between upper primary and secondary level for both boys in general and girls in particular.

In this book Judith Okely challenges popular accounts of Gypsies which suggest that they were once isolated communities, enjoying an autonomous culture and economy now largely eroded by the processes of industrialisation and western capitalism. Dr Okely draws on her own extensive fieldwork and on contemporary documents. The Traveller-Gypsies is the first monograph to be published on Gypsies in Britain using the perspective of social anthropology. It examines the historical origins of the Gypsies, their economy, travelling patterns, self-ascription, kinship and political groupings, and their marriage choices, upbringing and gender divisions. A detailed analysis of pollution beliefs reveals an underlying system which expresses and reinforces the separation of Gypsies from non-Gypsies. Explanations for beliefs are sought in their contemporary meaning as opposed to their alleged Indian origin. None of these aspects are analysed independently of the wider society, its policies, beliefs, and practices. This book will be invaluable for teaching purposes, both as a study of a Gypsy community per se, and for its discussion of the problems involved in carrying out fieldwork within the anthropologist's own society. The regional expansion was carried out to facilitate access to public services. The implementation of regional expansion was initially carried out in defining territorial boundaries. In the demarcation of this territory, there are protests due to the lack of involvement of indigenous peoples. As residents of the original domicile, the indigenous peoples fight for their land ownership rights, which are involved in the regional expansion plan. It happened in the expansion of the Nagari Salareh Aia area, Palembayan District, Agam Regency. After the enactment of Regent Regulation No. 15 of 2017 regarding the preparation of Nagari guardians. There were many protests against the boundaries set by the government through these instruments. Researchers try to explore this phenomenon through social law by examining aspects of regional politics, in this case, the rights of indigenous peoples, social capital in conflict resolution, and an assessment of the impact of these two issues in resolving regional division conflicts. Through a set of studies and discussions, it was found that the government and the community must work together and make decisions that do not ignore regional wisdom. Through this synergy, it was hoped that regional expansion would be conducted appropriately, which can provide benefits to the community and regional government.

This paper explores how grassroots innovations are being framed in the news media in Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden. By using framing analysis of newspaper items in the three countries, based on 30 cases, we identify that compared to literature on framing of renewable energy, the results show a prevalence of frames labeled as "social" aswell as positive framing in the media when reporting about grassroots innovations. There are differences between the countries, as social frames are significantly more common in the Netherlands while innovation stands out in Denmark. We argue that this reflects the energy landscapes in the countries, as grades of centralization and to which extent the country has transformed the energy system impact on how the grassroots innovations are being reported. Aspects of energy democratization is reflected in the reporting's as emphasis is often on local connection and benefits for communities and individuals. La estructura productiva de la ciudad de Mar del Plata se ha generado sobre la base del turismo de sol y playa, expandiéndose a través del tiempo, el modelo de prestaciones turísticas masivas,más importante de Argentina. Sin embargo, a partir de la década de los '90 el mismo comienza a manifestar signos de madurez y, si bien desde este momento la ciudad logra desarrollar un turismo fuera de temporada a través de iniciativas de diversificación, se observa que estas acciones no se encuentran incluidas en una política turística estratégica orientada a la reconversión. Dado el importante papel que tiene el turismo en la ciudad, el mismo se presenta como alternativa estratégica para la concreción de un proceso de desarrollo territorial sustentable, a través del compromiso ciudadano, del poder público y del sector productivo. Considerando la idea de que el involucramiento de la comunidad residente en el proceso de desarrollo turístico debe ir más allá de su concientización para ser un buen anfitrión, el objetivo de la ponencia es presentar los principales resultados de un proyecto de investigación orientado a la observación del vínculo comunidad residente-turismo local a partir de la indagación de las representaciones de este grupo específico de actores en torno al turismo y la gobernanza turística. Las representaciones son entendidas como el conjunto de informaciones, opiniones y actitudes referidas a determinados objetos de la realidad turística, que guían los comportamientos y prácticas por parte de los actores,influyendo en la toma de decisiones y la construcción de políticas en torno al turismo; en tanto que la gobernanza es concebida como un sistema de gobierno que implica interacciones entre el gobierno y la sociedad civil, tomándose el concepto de gobernanza turística para referirse al papel de estos sectores dentro del campo turístico. En cuanto al aspecto metodológico, se aplica un enfoque mixto, empleándose como instrumentos de recolección de datos, encuestas y entrevistas aplicadas durante el año 2014 a una muestra intencional y otra representativa de residentes de la ciudad de Mar del Plata, lo que permite la triangulación de datos cualitativos y cuantitativos en pos de un abordaje integrado del objeto de estudio. Los principales resultados indican que, hasta el momento, la comunidad residente de Mar del Plata posee una visión parcializada del fenómeno turístico y sus impactos. En este contexto, el sector público y el privado son percibidos como los actores centrales de la gobernanza turística local. A esta circunstancia se le suma la evidencia de un bajo nivel de involucramiento de los residentes en los aspectos que hacen al turismo y los procesos de toma de decisiones orientados al desarrollo turístico de la ciudad. ; The productive structure of the city of Mar del Plata has been generated on the basis of sun and beach tourism, expanding over time, the most important model of massive tourism in Argentina. However, from the 90s it began to show signs of maturity and, although the city was able to develop some off-season tourism through diversification initiatives, it is observed that these efforts are not included in an integral strategic policy oriented to re- define the model. Given the important role of tourism in Mar del Plata, it can be considered as a strategic alternative for the realization of a process of sustainable territorial development through civic engagement, public power and production. Considering the idea that the resident community involvement in the tourism development process must go beyond the being just a good host, the aim of the paper is to present the main results of a research project aimed at observing the link between the community and the local tourism. In order to do this, the representations of this specific group of actors around tourism and tourism governance are considered. The representations are understood as the set of information, opinions and attitudes concerning certain objects of the reality that guide the behaviors and practices of the actors influencing decision making and building policies on tourism. Governance is conceived as a system of government that involves interactions between government and civil society. Finally, the concept of tourism governance is referred to the role of these sectors in the field of tourism. As for the methodological aspects, a mixed approach, using as instruments for data collection, surveys and interviews was applied during 2014 to a representative sample of residents of the city of Mar del Plata, allowing a triangulation between qualitative and quantitative strategies towards an integrated approach of the study object. The main results indicate that, so far, the resident community of Mar del Plata has a partial view of tourism and its impacts. In this context, the public and private sectors are perceived as central players in the local tourism governance. This book examines the impact of globalization on frontier cities, and how various frontier cities in different regions have responded to these forces. The volume includes a number of theoretical chapters exploring various aspects of global change, including the economic, spatial and geopolitical dimensions. A longer section includes a number of case studies of frontier cities that have adapted to these changes. A number of countries as well as city types, from small towns to frontier metropolises, are examined, providing a broad overview of developmental alternatives. Emphasis is placed on the importance of initiatives from below, that is, efforts that do not depend on the planning and budgetary resources of national governments, since these are generally no longer forthcoming in an era of government down-sizing. The relations with the Republic of Moldova are a strategic priority for Romania's foreign policy, given the multiple cultural and historical ties between the two states and communities. Regardless of the governments in power in the two countries, the collaboration between the two countries has steadily strengthened, gaining a variety of forms. One of these forms of collaboration is that in the field of education in general, in particular, of university education. Protocols of collaboration in education, signed over time, provide for bursary, master and doctorate scholarships, internships for master and doctoral students, academic mobility for teachers, study visits, etc. Beyond these concrete aspects, the collaboration on the educational level also aims at the modernization of the national educational systems, with Romania having the experience, expertise and assistance needed to reform the educational system of the Republic of Moldova, in accordance with European principles and values

"Black women in marginalized communities are uniquely at risk of battering, rape, sexual harassment, stalking and incest. Through the compelling stories of Black women who have been most affected by racism, persistent poverty, class inequality, limited access to support resources or institutions, the author shows that the threat of violence to Black women has never been more serious, demonstrating how conservative legal, social, political and economic policies have impacted activism in the U.S. based movement to end violence against women. She argues that Black women face particular peril because of the ways that race and culture have not figured centrally enough in the analysis of the causes and consequences of gender violence. Republic of Srpska cannot boast of its economic system ever since the onset of the Global Economic and Financial Crisis (2008) to this day. Global Economic and Financial Crisis has produced negative effects onto a small economy like the economy of the Republic of Srpska (RS). In times of such crisis, RS has been faced with high unemployment rate (44%), reduced industrial production, enormous public debt, high deficits and colossal illiquidity. It indicates that the Republic of Srpska is characterised by poor macroeconomic indicators. The fact that RS possesses rich and diverse natural resources, which should be a key factor in its present and future development, did not help the economic system of RS in any way. The industry has been designated as a major segment of development by a long-term strategy of socio-economic development. Such long-term strategy has not given any results in terms of positive rate of economic growth, nor even the slightest improvement of any of the macroeconomic indicators so far. Urgent transformation of the economic system of the Republic of Srpska and its adaptation to the global processes is more than necessary. This can be achieved by offering investors numerous benefits and opportunities for investment under very favourable conditions, particularly in the industries and sectors representing significant natural resources. First of all, it is believed that there is great potential for the development of agriculture; exceptionally favourable conditions for the development of thermal and hydro energy sector; numerous possibilities of providing energy from renewable sources; vast areas covered by forests, mining and mineral resources; great tourist potential, etc. The above listed items are the essential ones, although there are others, which can represent a good basis for development of the economic system. Transformation of the economic system of RS will depend on many factors, primarily, of globalization that has contributed to the huge increase in trade, as well as of modern communication technologies. Globalisation has both positive and negative aspects, but it has certainly brought significant changes. The developed world is the bearer of the globalization process and it made the best use of current global circumstances. The solution is in creation of economic and political integrations, being in a cause-effect relationship with the process of globalization. Economic system of the Republic of Srpska simply has to be included in the such integrations.

Cette phrase contient deux aspects. D'une part, la première partie, qui donne un jugement plutôt favorable au marché, peut paraître étonnante au regard de la volonté de Sen de proposer une voie alternative à l'économie traditionnelle en prônant la "nécessité d'un examen critique du rôle des marchés" (op.cit., p. 168). D'autre part, la deuxième partie de la phrase identifie un manque : celui de la justification des raisons pour lesquelles nous recourrons au marché. C'est pour cela que Sen établit un argumentaire pour justifier le recours au mécanisme de marché concurrentiel dans l'analyse économique. En fait, les deux aspects de cette phrase peuvent être traités et analysés de manière complémentaire. El Toboso, village of the Mancha (Spain), is studied under economical, political, social and religious aspects. This historical work was made by basing itself on documents of several Spanish Archives. ; Se ha reconstituido la vida de El Toboso, una "villa" de la Mancha, entre 1554 y 1664, bajo diferentes aspectos: economicos, politicos, sociales y religiosos.
