El presente ensayo pretende analizar las condiciones de privación de libertad en relación con los Derechos Humanos y algunos aspectos acerca de estas condiciones en donde se visualiza vulneración a estos. Así, se reflexiona sobre el espacio carcelario como un lugar que atenta contra el respeto por la vida y la dignidad humana. Finalmente, se problematiza sobre algunas de las disposiciones o consideraciones que un gobierno debe tomar en cuenta para lograr un efectivo respeto por los Derechos Humanos de las personas privadas de libertad ; The present essay intends to analyze the conditions of imprisonment in relation to Human Rights and some aspects about these conditions in which violations of these rights are often visualized. Thus, it reflects on the prison space as a place that attempts against respect for life and human dignity. Finally, discuss on some of the considerations that a government must bear in mind to achieve an effective respect for the Human Rights of persons deprived of freedom.

Looking at the strategic responses by the UMP to the rise of the FN in 2002, we examine first the process of profound ideological revision under Sarkozy's leadership. The emphasis is on the reformulation of two archaeological repertoires of the French conservative New Right –namely anti-egalitarianism and cultural differentialism– and how this 'winning formula' was successfully articulated with strong populist and anti-establishment appeals. In the second section, this distinctive trajectory is contrasted with the transformation and adaptation of the FN to the new party system configuration that emerged from Le Pen's Pyrrhic victory of 2002. The focus is on the de-radicalisation of the party's programmatic appeal in 2007 and a significant re-interpretation of its traditional ethnicised mythology of national identity. Implications for the characterisation of the radical Right phenomenon in France are discussed in the conclusion.

The notion that there is strong connection between the private sector and entrepreneurship has resulted in entrepreneurship in the public sector being neglected. This in turn leads to theoretical, practical and political shortcomings. The role of entrepreneurs as change agents is captured in the concept 'institutional entrepreneurs', but most studies focus on actors on the higher levels. This article sheds light on previously forgotten or ignored entrepreneurial processes, those taking place within the middle levels of the public sector, and which result in institutional change. We elaborate on the characteristics of the entrepreneurial processes and their prerequisites. The framework draws on the tension between entrepreneurship and the institutional context, and suggests a multi-level approach, drawing on insights from both entrepreneurship studies and new institutional theory. The cases highlight the importance of being able to create alliances and find sponsors to ensure freedom of action and grant legitimacy. The enabling and constraining aspects of the institutional context are illustrated and discussed.

While writings exist on various aspects of public housing in Singapore, recent developments in the 1990s have not yet been given any serious academic attention, Our intention in this paper is to focus on such developments, paying particular attention to the government's policy of providing quality housing, After setting the context of efforts at providing quality in the first three decades of public housing by the Housing and Development Board, we turn our attention specifically to the 1990s, focusing on three areas in which attempts are being made to improve quality, namely, the physical upgrading of older estates, the privatisation of HUDC flats, and the invention of new schemes such as the executive condominium concept, In the final section, we argue that, as in earlier decades, such efforts belie a hegemonic intent, essentially to manage Singaporeans' growing aspirations and thus to gain political legitimacy for the government. This we term the 'politics of quality' in public housing. We then discuss briefly some reactions to such attempts at hegemony.

El presente artículo es la segunda parte de un trabajo más amplio acerca de la «democracia ancestral» instaurada por Solón hacia finales del siglo VI a.C. a través de diversas reformas legislativas y constitucionales. En la primera parte de este trabajo, publicada en esta misma revista, se describió el sistema político ateniense en momentos previos a la época de Solón (1), se señalaron diversos aspectos de su poesía política y de su propósito de un «justo equilibrio» (2) y, finalmente, se abordaron críticamente algunas de sus primeras medidas legislativas de carácter social y económico (3). Esta segunda parte del artículo continúa con el estudio de las reformas constitucionales de Solón y analiza su división de la sociedad ateniense en clases y tribus (1), su reforma de las magistraturas y los dos Consejos (2) y de la Ecclesía y los tribunales populares (3). Finaliza (4) con algunas conclusiones sobre el significado político de esas reformas, el tipo de régimen político al que dan lugar y la forma de «justo equilibrio» finalmente pretendido o alcanzado por Solón. ; This article is the second part of a broader study on the 'ancestral democracy' introduced by Solon to the late sixth century BC through various legislative and constitutional reforms. In the first part of the work, published in this journal, is described the Athenian political system at a time prior to the time of Solon (1), identified several aspects of his political poetry and its purpose of a «fair balance» ( 2) and, finally, are discussed some of his first legislative measures of social and economic character (3). This second part of this work continues with the study of the Solon constitutional reforms, his division of the Athenian society in propertyclasses and tribes (1), his reform of the Magistracies and the two Councils (2) and that of the Ecclesía, and the people´s courts (3). The essay ends (4) with some conclusions on the political significance of these reforms, the type of political regime they endorse, and the form of «fair balance» sought or even finally achieved by Solon

The phenomenon of lesbian celebrity---instances where a celebrity is known to be and does not deny being a lesbian---like celebrity in general, crystallizes moral definitions and redefinitions of personhood. Yet for lesbians, this cultural form takes on a decidedly political import, insofar as questions concerning social membership are raised with every appearance of a lesbian celebrity and the ensuing controversy. Certainly, the entire category of celebrity is extremely mutable and telling of more general features of social organization and cultural reproduction. But from the perspective of lesbian celebrity, these characteristics demand an inquiry into various intersections of popular conceptions of sexuality and gender with the representational practices and structures of the mass media. Moreover, these encounters are dynamic and thus point toward various cultural changes that work upon and may alter the definitions of homosexuality and femininity, the two factors that conjoin in configurations of lesbians and lesbianism. ; The dissertation considers five aspects of lesbian celebrity. The first chapter deals with visibility politics and the place accorded celebrities as symbolic representatives of lesbian personhood. Another considers the cultural, economic, and technological changes in the past two centuries that provide the preconditions for lesbian celebrity. A third examines the opposition to celebrity during the formative years of the gay and women's liberation movements in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and its effective reversal due to a politics of self-invention, which involves attention to ones self-image. Another analyzes revisionist attempts to find precedents far lesbian celebrity in the biographies of women who lived before contemporary definitions of lesbian identity existed, or before the concept of liberation was applied to homosexuality. It determines performance and the characteristics of personality, motivation, adherence, creativity, mental and organizational health. The present study aims to verify the role of creativity factors in determining professional success. It is to be expected that people with a high creative potential can also present a high level of professional satisfaction, a level especially associated with professional success. We are also interested in studying which dimensions of professional success are related to aspects of creativity.

This book uses an intersectional approach to explore the ways in which girls and adults in school systems hold multiple realities, negotiate tensions, cultivate hope and resilience, resist oppression, and envision transformation. Rooted in the voices and lived experiences of girls and educators, Brinkman, Brinkman and Hamilton document girl-led activism within and outside schools, and explore how adults working with girls can help contribute toward them thriving. Girls' narratives are considered through an intersectionality framework, in which gender identity, race, ethnicity, social class, sexual orientation, and other aspects of social identity intersect to inform girls' lived experiences. Exploring data and interviews collected over a 15-year period, the authors set out a three-part structure to outline how girls engage in strategies to enact resilience, resistance, and transformation. Part one reconceptualizes traditional definitions of resilience and documents girls' experiences of oppression within schools, identifying common stereotypes about girls and examining the complexity of girls' "choices" within systems that they do not feel they can change. Part two highlights girls' active resistance to stereotypes, pressures to conform, and interpersonal and systemic discrimination, from entitlement of their boy peers to experiences of sexualization in school.
