Changes on the Qualities of University Counsellors in China
Counsellors are important key members in Chinese universities. In this paper, on the one hand, we compared student affairs workers' occupational characteristics, classification and development of western as well as Chinese university. On the other hand, Chinese university faculty members and students are our subjects. Of 800 pieces circulated, 537 pieces are found to be effective. We verified the reliability and validity of data, then conducted correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The test has good reliability and validity. Cronbach's alpha coefficient and the split-half reliability coefficient are all above 0.9, indicating that the actual value is in good accordance with the true value. The internal alpha coefficient and the split-half reliability coefficient of each factor are all above 0.8. Χ2/df<5. GFI, AGFI, NFI, CFI, IFI,RMSEA and the other indicators are fitting, and this test meets measurement requirements. A 5-factor model is formulated based on the research results, including: moral quality; professional competence; political awareness; instructive ability; interpersonal skills. This 5-factor model reflects the evaluation of faculty members and students in universities on qualities of counsellors and transformation in their expectation for the role counsellors play as time goes by. So we summarize the qualities of counsellors are constantly changing. These changes have been constantly evolving in time, and their traits are such as: Objectivity of the times, Initiative of inner, Predictability of practice. Being well aware of the trend of this career is conducive to the formation of a sound relationship between counsellors and students, measurability for morality-oriented education, and improvement in counsellors' overall qualities.

Ten years anniversary of the Department of European Integration in the MGIMO-University gives an opportunity to sum up Department's achievements and to define the place of the Department in the Russian academic school of European integration studies. The paper consists of three parts. The first presents history the national school of European Integration Studies, since the department of the European Integration in MGIMO-University is an integral part of this scientific school. Authors identify four periods: the formation period (1957 - 1962), the Soviet period of academic research (1962 - 1985), the Russian period within the framework of growing national and international contacts between researchers (1986 - 2000) and the current period, which is characterized by an integrated research environment and a system of university teaching (since early 2000s). The second part describes the process of establishing of the Department and its teaching methods, based on a multidisciplinary approach, strong interplay between teaching and research and integration into the global environment. Authors outline the process of preparation of the first Russian university textbook on European integration, describe its concepts and present opinions of the referees. The third part provides an overview of research activities of the Department and points at main published monographs.
The fortysomething barrier: medicine and age discrimination
Agism in the medical profession is mainly covert but it is not uncommon. It is widely believed that people become less productive as they get older. However, research has shown that older people have less absenteeism, more job stability, and greater output than younger workers. Job losses, which until recently were unheard of in the NHS, usually affect older people first, resulting in the loss of those with the most skill and experience. With an aging population it is important that the government takes steps to discourage age discrimination in the NHS and Britain as a whole.

The study of religion and theology at the University of Pretoria – a century of endeavour in conditionalistic perspective
This article suggests a theoretical and methodological perspective primarily hinging on the categories of Horizon, Totality and conditionalism, with an outspoken mystical orientation, radically relativising yet simultaneously treasuring diverse religious expression. This model was developed with a view to interpreting the history of religions, in this case applied to the history of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Pretoria from 1917 to 2017. Utilising this perspective, the history of the faculty is analysed in terms of three qualitatively distinct yet continuous epochs, overlapping with the three epochs of South African history during the twentieth century: 1902–1948, 1948–1994 and 1994 to present. In particular the article focuses on two dimensions of theological existence at the University of Pretoria: firstly, its interaction with the state over this century, that is, its political existence during the decades prefiguring apartheid, during apartheid and during the aftermath of apartheid; secondly, its relationship with the wider world of religious pluralism over the past century, implying its notion of religious truth. Differences of emphasis and conflicts during the century, involving both sets of problems, are explained and understood conditionalistically and with reference to Totality and Horizon. Racial exclusion and religious exclusion are understood as mutually determining and are both informed by and dependent on a certain view of religious truth. In the context of its own ambit this article has a reconciliatory intention, not evaluating the mistakes of the past in terms of the categories of sin and guilt, but rather in terms of tragic misjudgements of situations: shortcomings in historical hindsight, sufficiently wide peripheral vision, realistic foresight and sufficient insight into the epochal conditions of the times and the essence of religion. Greed and hatred, seemingly ingrained in human nature, are taken to feed on such lack of insight. ; Prof. Dr Kobus Kruger is participating in ...
