Discusses the New Right in Italy, focusing on its approach to modernity & its emphasis on a culture of tolerance. It is shown that the Italian New Right contraposes a culture of difference to abstract egalitarianism as the only defense against the modernist project to organize humankind in terms of a single, absolute, social model. The origins of the New Right in Italy are traced to Marco Tarchi's 1974 meeting with militant members of the French New Right, & to the founding in 1974 of an underground newsletter called La Voce Della Fogna. The Italian New Right's attack on liberalism is discussed, the "decisionist" & "organicist" factions of the New Right are examined, & it is concluded that, as a metapolitical movement, the New Right's main objective is to develop alliances with new political groups, such as the Greens & Third Worldists.
