Spain, as a social and democratic state of law, is articulated with a public system of Social Services as a guarantee of the rights of all people regardless of their economic and social situation. This system establishes its objectives for vulnerable people and those in the process of exclusion through strategies based fundamentally on social policies for economic, labour and social inclusion. This article proposes a reflection on the objective of mercantilist inclusion and social utility, forgetting the first of the premises of an integral inclusion, which is based on empowerment as an individual. Clinical social work contemplates psycho-social intervention in a single intervention, in order to strengthen the vulnerable human being in the first place, so that he recovers his abilities to live integrated in society and be an active subject in social construction from his own power. The Welfare State must not only guarantee civil and social rights, but first of all, personal rights, which make each individual an active and not a passive protagonist. First published in 1992. The collapse of communist rule in Eastern Europe has led to a widespread view that socialism is a dead, or at least dying, force. Labour's Utopias argues that this assumption is based on the popular conception that socialism's various traditions are simply different means to a common end. The author looks at three strands of socialism – Bolshevism, Fabianism and German Social Democracy – in order to assess whether this argument is justified, concluding that in fact each has a distinct vision of an ideal future. Sociale investeringen staan in veel Europese landen op de beleidsagenda. Hierbij gaat het om een omslag van klassiek herverdelend sociaal beleid
naar activerend sociaal beleid. Hoewel deze agenda een verlaging van de
armoede beoogt, vrezen sommigen juist voor averechtse effecten. Uit vergelijkende
studies blijkt dat sociaalinvesteringsbeleid vooralsnog weinig
effect heeft gehad op de ontwikkeling van de Europese armoedecijfers.
Een verklaring hiervoor lijkt te zijn dat in de meeste landen – mede door
het optreden van de financiële crisis – de verschuivingen in de uitgaven
van traditioneel naar activerend sociaal beleid betrekkelijk beperkt in
omvang zijn. Echter, vanwege politiek-economische redenen en trends
als verdergaande economische globalisering, is het goed denkbaar dat
sociale investeringen in de toekomst een belangrijker plek krijgen in sociale stelsels.

O objetivo deste artigo é demonstrar quais os principais modos pelos quais os atores sociais são representados em um anúncio publicitário, visando à construção de um discurso polarizado e de uma ideologia humanizadora, a fim de atingir seu público-alvo. O aporte teórico utilizado encontra respaldo na semiótica social proposta por Kress e van Leeuwen (2001, 2006), Kress (2010), van Leeuwen (2008) e Machin (2012). O objeto de análise é um vídeo produzido pela campanha Dermablend 2014, intitulada "Camo confessions"(Confissões de Camuflagem). Os resultados demonstram que o uso de recursos semióticos é crucial na construção e distribuição de conhecimento, relacionando intimamente aspectos discursivos, linguísticos e ideológicos. Um foco maior para essa relação torna-se necessário, já que esses recursos semióticos fazem parte de uma cadeia retroalimentadora de outros discursos publicitários atuais.

The purpose of this project was to examine parents' descriptions of the ways family and friends supported them after they had experienced a perinatal loss. For this project, a secondary analysis of data from two phenomenological studies on perinatal loss was performed. A combined total of 62 interview transcripts from 22 mothers and 9 fathers were examined. Data analysis included identifying all statements in the interview transcripts that pertained to the ways that family and friends supported parents. The modes of supportive behavior (emotional, advice/feedback, practical, financial, and socializing) in Vaux's theory of social support served as a useful framework for presenting the findings. Parents received emotional support most frequently. Findings from the current study provide data for health care professionals to use to provide guidance to family and friends of bereaved parents.
