The humanities are central in today's academic turbulence and in the cultural crisis of which it is a manifestation. The crisis, with its long genealogy and manifold issues in society and the academy, is real enough. The heritage of an age of individualism in which many traditional forms of authority had survived is passing through the ordeal of irrelevance. In exaggerated reaction to the communitarian requirements of society, not to mention industrial society, this heritage is not simply found wanting but is pronounced to be corrupting, misleading or irrelevant. The disparity between institutions, values and received ideas and the needs of society is so great that past experience may also be dismissed as irrelevant for what some will ponderously call "the end of the neolithic age." Ill-equipped and confused we face the problem of adaptation and innovation required by the encounter of civilizations in our world.

The main issue discussed is on the role of education system in the process of nation building as a means in uniting different community ethnics which later on, hoped to shape the future ethnic relation of this country. It is generally known that political socialization experienced by each ethnic community has given birth to a vernacular education system, separated along the ethnic line. Every community shapes their own education system based on their respective mother tongue language, however all are based on the same curriculum. As a result the role of education as a uniting force is not significantly effective. Historically, it has been shown that government efforts to unite the country education system under the wing of national education system (national school) is not that successful since every community (Chinese) will defend the existence of their community education system because they want to spur their mother tongue language. The clash between national education system and vernacular education system is the root cause of stalemate in the ethnic relation in Malaysia and it always becomes a flash point when the issue is raised. The question now is what is the best solution to enhance the national education system in multiethnic Malaysia?

India has successfully created one of the leading higher education systems in the world. It has proved its worth in this arena also. Eminence of many top institutions is recognized to be analogues to the best in the world. However, Indian education system faces problems from the issues that keep originating from disparities and developmental practices adopted. As a result of which even after all the remarkable development in the areas of Information Technology, space science, nuclear technology, oil exploration, industrial production etc., India is still not able to eradicate its problems of poverty, ignorance and underdevelopment completely and successfully due to various reasons.Nearly one-fourth of the population is still below poverty line; onethird are illiterate and disparities amongst rich-poor, urban-rural, educateduneducated are high, which are posing hindrances in the developmental phenomena. Now as the country has opened its door to the foreign contributors in the fields like education, the country has to face challenges of globalization and pressures of liberalization while continuing its fight against poverty, illiteracy and disadvantages to upgrade its stature from developing to a developed economy. Keeping the above in view, present paper deliberates the impact of globalisation on higher education with the analysis of the opportunities and threats.
