SINCE 1918 THE LABOR PARTY HAS VIRTUALLY MONOPOLIZED THE REPRESENTATION OF A LEFT-WORKING CLASS CONSTITUENCY IN BRITAIN. FOR THE COMMUNIST PARTY THE INDUSTRIAL STRUGGLE AND PARTICIPATION IN TRADE UNIONS BECAME CENTRAL. AFTER AN UPLIFT IN FORTUNES, THE COLD WAR BROUGHT POLARIZATION AND A POWERFUL ANTI-COMMUNIST CAMPAIGN IN THE TRADE UNIONS. SINCE THE EARLY 1960S, THE PARTY HAS FOLLOWED "BROAD LEFT" STRATEGIES, BUT BY THE 1980S TENSIONS BETWEEN THOSE FAVORING THIS STRATEGY AND PROPONENTS OF THE TRADITIONAL CLASS WAR STANCE HAD COMBINED WITH OTHER FACTORS TO RENDER THE PARTY EFFECTIVELY A SPENT FORCE IN NATIONAL TRADE UNION POLITICS. YET EXPERIENCE IN BRITAIN, AS ELSEWHERE, HAS SHOWN THAT A CADRE OF ACTIVISTS OR RANK-AND-FILE LEADERS CAN BE OF KEY IMPORTANCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRADE UNION ORGANIZATION, ESPECIALLY IN CIRCUMSTANCES OF STABLE INSTITIONALIZED TRADE UNIONISM.

Während die israelische Labor-Partei sich insgesamt in Richtung der "Tauben" bewegt hat, vertritt Yitzhak Rabin, der im Vorfeld der Parlamentswahlen vom Juni 1992 zum neuen Parteiführer gewählt wurde, im arabisch-israelischen Konflikt Positionen, die eher zum (linken Flügel des) Likud passen. Daß er sich dennoch gegen seinen Kontrahenten Shimon Peres durchsetzen konnte, wird auf wahltaktische Überlegungen der Parteimitglieder zurückgeführt: mit Rabin erschien die Chance größer, sephardische Wählerstimmen hinzuzugewinnen. Von einer Labor-Regierung unter Rabin sind dieser Analyse zufolge keine grundlegenden Veränderungen der israelischen Innen- und Außenpolitik zu erwarten. (DÜI-Hns)

Labor Mobility and Fiscal Policy in a Currency Union
Labor mobility is commonly taken as a property of an optimal currency area. But how does that property affect the outcome of fiscal policies? In our model, we show that perfect (costless) labour mobility is not necessarily welfare improving, since it prevents the national fiscal authorities from pursuing independent policies, opening the way to a coordination prob-lem. With symmetric shocks, the federal fiscal policy can improve welfare by playing a coordinating role. With asymmetric shocks, the federal policy allows both countries to reach a higher productive efficiency, provided the federal government is endowed with a federal budget.

Research on the category of competitiveness in the labor market
The subject of the study is the theoretical aspects of the formation of the competitiveness of the labor force in the system of market relations that develop in the labor market. The aim of the study is to compare the categories of competitiveness that exist in the labor market to clarify the category of competitiveness of the labor force. Research methods. The work uses a set of scientific methods and approaches, including systemic, historical, logical, which made it possible to ensure the conceptual consistency and effectiveness of the research. Results of work. The article examines various categories of competitiveness in the labor market. The content of the concept of a worker's competitiveness is considered. The research of the concept of personnel competitiveness is carried out. The concept of labor force competitiveness is also generalized. It is shown that the competitiveness of labor resources and competitive human capital are used in scientific circulation. A comparison of these categories is carried out and their relationship is shown. It has been demonstrated that the competitiveness of the labor force is at the heart of the competitiveness pyramid. Application of the results. The system of sciences in the field of labor economics, social economics and politics, economic and social research, the subject of which is the study of the processes of increasing competitiveness in the labor market. Conclusions. The competitiveness of the labor force is based on its quality, namely, the totality of personal, professional and other characteristics that allow the employee to compete in the labor market.

Neoliberalism: Effects on Labor and Education in the U.S
The purpose of this paper is to illuminate the ill effects of neoliberal ideology on labor and education in the United States since the defeat of Keynesian economics in the United by the 1980s (Aronwitz, 2001; Robertson, 2007; Winfield, 2012). That is, neoliberal policy bears significant responsibility in the decline of labor and public schooling in the United States. Concurrently, over the past few decades there has been a significant transfer of wealth from poor and middle-class Americans to the very top of the income distribution (Piketty, 2014). While the wealthiest Americans have benefited from much lower taxes on their wealth in the past few decades, there has been a concurrent hollowing of the middle class due largely to automation and less to offshoring (Autor, 2010). Moreover, Congress and state legislatures have reduced appropriations to K-12 and higher education considerably (Leachman & Mai, 2014; Giroux, 2014; Mitchell, Palacios, & Leachman, 2014). Yet at the same time, some of the more affluent Americans have supported the privatization of K-12 (Ravitch, 2010; 2014), a lucrative investment maneuver (Levine & Levine, 2014). Interestingly, these initiatives siphon dwindling funds away from struggling public education (Levine & Levine, 2014; Ravitch, 2014). Thus, it appears the elite are akin to parasites, extracting sustenance from education and labor. That is why this proposal is significant. Furthermore, this paper draws upon a variety of information to include various government and private research reports on labor and education funding.
