This study was carried out to examine the thoughts and perspectives of Kadirli Faculty of Applied Sciences students about distance education and to reveal the thoughts and suggestions of these students in this direction. For this purpose, a survey was conducted with a total of 153 students by communicating with the students in the faculty via the digital platform.
This study was approved by Osmaniye Korkut Ata University Science Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Committee (2021/2/3).
62.1% of the students participating in the study are female and 37.9% are male. In the age range evaluation, it was observed that 94.8% of them consisted of young students between the ages of 18-30. In the study, it is seen that 45.8% of the students who participated in the survey were in the 1st grade, 21.6% were in the 2nd grade, 19% were in the 4th grade and 11.1% were in the 3rd grade. The students were asked about the departments they studied, and 42.5% of them stated that they were in gastronomy and culinary arts, 24.2% of them were in food technology, 22.9% of them were in organic agriculture management, 10.5% of them were recreation management and 2% were postgraduate students. When students were asked about their technology ownership, it was seen that 56.2% of the participants had sufficient technological equipment to participate in online courses; To the question of what would be your education preference if the conditions were suitable for the students, 72.5% of the answers were formal education, 15.7% distance education, 11.8% coeducation.
It has been seen that the biggest reason for the preference of distance education is due to the necessity due to the pandemic; it has been concluded that the health factor is more important than the education factor. The rate of those who think this way is 69.9%. The students were asked whether the online processing of the courses was sufficient for learning, and 54.9% of them stated that it was partially sufficient; 35.3% of them gave a negative opinion saying that it is not enough. When asked how the duration of the lessons should be, 43.8% of the participants stated that it is more appropriate that the duration of the lecture should vary according to the subject of the lesson. When the students were asked what is the biggest problem they encounter in the online course, it was emphasized that the biggest problem with 48.4% was the inaccessibility of the course due to the disconnection of electricity or the internet.

PurposeTo debate some of the commonly;held assumptions about social enterprises.Design/methodology/approachThe three main assumptions that are commonly applied to the development and characteristics of social enterprises are discussed, namely: that social enterprise must be a collective or democratic pursuit; that social enterprise is institutionally different from earlier mechanisms designed to usher in a "third way"; and that social enterprise is better than doing nothing. Analyses the development of these three assumptions through the framework offered by DiMaggio and Powell (1983) on institutional isomorphism.FindingsThere are indications that the social enterprises sector would benefit from more co‐ops taking an ever‐greater market share in an ever‐increasing range of industries, but that this should be the outcome of decisions freely made by individual, autonomous organizations that are free to choose social enterprises over other available options. Concludes that the practical danger posed by the wrong kind of isomorphic tendencies is to the potential flourishing of alternative organizational forms, alternative business models, and alternative ways of seeing the economic world.Originality/valueClarifies some of the commonly‐held views concerning social enterprises.
This book proposes a new theorisation when studying cyber dissidents in an African digital sphere. It argues that social media dissidents are a recent development in a long lineage of dissidents in African societies. Using Zimbabwe as a case study, the study locates contemporary dissidents in the same family with other historical dissident figures found in African orature, the Chimurenga wars, through music, poetry and other forms of expression. The book argues against techno-deterministic approaches to studying social media-born digital dissidence in Africa. It is aimed at scholars dedicated to studying social media movements in African contexts and the global south generally, prompting them to re-evaluate their earlier conclusions and adopt a more nuanced and contextspecific approach

Power is often taken to be a central concept in social and political thought that can contribute to the explanation of many different social phenomena. This article argues that in order to play this role, a general theory of power is required to identify a stable causal capacity, one that does not depend on idiosyncratic social conditions and can thus exert its characteristic influence in a wide range of cases. It considers three promising strategies for such a theory, which ground power in (1) the ability to use force, (2) access to resources, or (3) collective acceptance. It shows that these strategies fail to identify a stable causal capacity. The lack of an adequate general theory of power suggests that the concept lacks the necessary unity to play the broad explanatory role it is often accorded.

The paper presents the results of a sociological study conducted in some multiethnic communities situated in the central area of Moldova, Romania. Its main aim was to establish the ethnic identity of Catholic population in the villages of this region and to discover the way in which these communities build their ethnic and cultural identity. We used the scale of social distance, starting from the model developed by Bogardus (1925), which has become the most frequently used method of emphasizing the acceptance or isolation of social groups. We calculated the Social Distance Index (SDI) which highlights the number of social contact opportunities rejected by the respondent, the Social Contact Index (SCI) derived from the number of social contact opportunities accepted by the respondents, and the Qualitative Index of Social Contacts (QISC). The results are focused on ethnic aspects and local features of studied communities and the conclusions reveal the methods of ethnic self-defining for each community and their tendency to conserve local identity by refusing external influences that have an ideological stake.
