Für das "European Interreligious Encounter" in Rovereto/Italien 2008 hat der Vorsitzende der Peace Education Standing Commission (PESC) of Religions for Peace (RfP) Johannes Lähnemann in Kooperation mit Peter Schreiner eine Europäische Landkarte für Interreligiöses Lernen und Werteerziehung erstellt. Das dazu gehörende Buch enthält aktuelle Projekt- und Länderberichte aus 14 verschiedenen Ländern und informiert über das EU-Forschungsprojekt REDCo: Religion in Education. - For the European Interreligious Encounter in Rovereto/Italy 2008, Johannes Lähnemann, chairman of the Peace Education Standing Commission (PESC) of Religions for Peace (RfP) in cooperation with Peter Schreiner of the Comenius Institut Münster has prepared a European Map of Interreligious and Values Education accompanied by a handbook containing project and country reports. It corresponds the general motto of the encounter - "Shared Values for a Changing Europe".

This manuscript reviews Paul Peterson's new book, Saving Schools: From Horace Mann to Virtual Learning. The turn of the 21st century has marked several changes in many social processes in the whole world including Europe and Latvia, such as the disappearance of antiquated professions and creation of completely new ones, which is related to replacing students´ professional orientation with career education.Rapid development and changes in the job market, unemployment, constantly increasing information about jobs and educational paths cause confusion, indecision and disinformation for schoolchildren choosing their own career. This demands from the school to be able to develop the student`s ability to make decision about their future choices.To understand why the term "career education" has replaced the term "professional orientation", which was used in the 20th century, this article analyses the essence of both concepts in relation to social processes and political stances in different eras.
BASE
The PARRISE (Promoting Attainment of Responsible Research & Innovation in Science Education) project aims at introducing the concept of Responsible Research and Innovation in primary and secondary education. It does so by combining inquiry-based learning and citizenship education with socio-scientific issues in science education. This approach is called socio-scientific inquiry-based learning (SSIBL) which is implemented in teacher professional development courses across Europe. Based on practical experiences the approach is laid down in a new educational framework, and learning tools and materials for in/pre-service training courses are developed. The PARRISE educational methodology seeks to promote democratic citizenship through the integration of social issues and related scientific knowledge. Drawing from recently acquired IBSE insights and individual partner expertise, the PARRISE partners collectively develop a community of learners, who will bring together selected good practices examined from a Research and Responsible Innovation perspective.
