If it is agreed that social indicators indicate or measure only within the context of a theory of social change, & if it is further assumed that theories of social change which deal only with social conditions, behavioral interchanges or transactions, & the material environment, are likely to be unsuccessful because they ignore the "mental" side of life, it follows that we will want our theories of social change, & the social indicators associated with them, to incorporate the cultural & group psychological aspects of social behavior. Data to be used as raw material for social indicators of culture & group psychology may be gathered from interviews & from cultural artifacts. The social indicators of the psychological aspects of society are found & must be compared in survey research & artifact analysis. Artifact analysis, however, has a potential for contributing to a theory of social change much greater than survey research. Analysis of literature, film, art, songs, & in general the imagery within the social communications is a far more fruitful, but little used, analytic tool. Modified HA.

Relevance. Innovative development is currently an integral part of any organization, city, country and the world as a whole. Innovative development determines the potential and ability to achieve a goal through the use of new technologies The modern world is a dynamic system at the stage of globalization associated with the expansion of international integration and the creation of regional integration associations. The modern economic paradigm, as the main instrument of systems, is exposed to the danger of wasteful consumption of resources caused by market competition. The concept of sustainable development of socio-economic systems is a new paradigm, the main content of which is a global unregulated economy and the need to find comprehensive solutions to achieve the goals of social, economic and environmental development. Understanding the psychological dimensions underlying the radicalisation process is a considerable challenge in the context of the legal judicial treatment of perpetrators of acts of radical violence. This clinical and qualitative study is based on an analysis of legal expert interviews of people at different stages of the radicalisation process. It highlights common psychological characteristics in personality, mechanisms of moral neutralisation and sociocognitive and interpretive treatment during radicalisation. These observations suggest the applicability of a model of cognitive–emotional transformation of self and meaning-building in radical violent engagement. ; Peer reviewed

West looks at the process from which coffee is grown, gathered, sorted, shipped, and served from the highlands of Papua New Guinea to coffee shops in far away places. She shows how coffee becomes a commodity, the different forms of labor involved, and the way that coffee shapes the lives and understandings of those who grow, process, export, sell and consume coffee.
Climate change is clearly discernible in observed climate records in Switzerland. It impacts on natural systems, ecosystems, and economic sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and energy, and it affects Swiss livelihood in various ways. The observed and projected changes call for a response from the political system, which in Switzerland is characterized by federalism and direct democratic instruments. Swiss climate science embraces natural and social sciences and builds on institutionalized links between researchers, public, and private stakeholders. In this article, we review the physical, institutional, and political aspects of climate change in Switzerland. We show how the current state of Swiss climate science and policy developed over the past 20 years in the context of international developments and national responses. Specific to Switzerland is its topographic setting with mountain regions and lowlands on both sides of the Alpine ridge, which makes climate change clearly apparent and for some aspects (tourist sector, hydropower, and extreme events) highly relevant and better perceivable (e.g., retreating glaciers). Not surprisingly the Alpine region is of central interest in Swiss climate change studies.

(pka)
