AbstractYouth in foster care (YFC) are at high risk of negative reproductive and other health outcomes and may be especially vulnerable to negative impacts of media due to early adversity and a lack of stable caregiver relationships. The aim of this project was to explore how access and exposure to media impacts YFC in order to inform future research in this realm and promote resilience in this understudied population. We conducted semistructured interviews with YFC ages 15–21 (n = 22) and focus groups with foster caregivers (n = 86). We used thematic analysis to analyse data for themes related to media. Youth and caregivers described four main themes: (a) impacts of media on youth norms and attitudes, (b) impacts of media on youth behaviour, (c) impacts of youth exposure to pornography, and (d) caregiver monitoring and mediation of media. Data from this study indicate that media has unique, important effects on YFC norms and behaviours, including sexual behaviours. Foster caregivers encounter multiple barriers to monitoring and mediating media use for YFC. Further research is needed to explore differential effects of media on YFC versus non‐YFC in order to develop effective interventions and mitigate potential negative effects of media.

La educación constituye el medio para lograr el desarrollo de vida de la población, la que permite migrar socialmente de un estadio a otro. Asimismo la adquisición de mejores niveles educativos contribuye al desarrollo comunitario, al poner en éste la transferencia de conocimientos aplicativos con el fin de lograr trascender a nivel regional y nacional y por ende al mejoramiento a nivel global de la economía del país.Sin embargo, a pesar de existir grandes avances en cuanto la aplicación de políticas educativas para el mejoramiento de los niveles escolásticos de la población, aún persisten indicadores muy bajos, para el año 2010 se observa un analfabetismo alrededor del 15%, además a nivel rural dicha tasa oscila en un 22% mientras que en el área urbana apenas llega al 8% aproximadamente. Cuando se desagrega dicho indicador por edades es preocupante describir que hasta los 24 años de edad dicha tasa llega al 10% (INE, 2010). Cuando se observan y describen las tasas de asistencia escolar a nivel longitudinal, es preocupante considerar que a partir de la década del 1990 hasta 2010 dichas tasas siguen siendo aun bajas para el periodo en mención.

ABSTRACTBackgroundDo patients have a preference for the clinician's choice of face protection (visor or mask), and can this make a difference to the patient's feelings of anxiety?MethodIn a normative sample (n = 72) of patients from Special Care Dentistry, different combinations of face protection were studied to see whether the patients clearly preferred one type over another, and whether that was related to the levels of anxiety they suffered, based on the modified dental anxiety scale.ResultsThe majority of patients, 68% had the visor only as their first choice of face protection. This was followed by 22% having the mask only as their first choice and 10% having the visor and mask combination as their first choice. Patients with higher anxiety levels were more likely to believe that the type of face protection worn by the dentist would affect their levels of anxiety.ConclusionThe patients preferred the visor only option. As the level of anxiety rose, so did the percentage of patients that felt the style of protection worn by the dentist would affect their level of anxiety. The comments from patients referred to the benefit of nonverbal communication offered by the visor.

For the first time the association between Partamona seridoensis and Constrictotermes cyphergaster is described. Partamona seridoensis occurs in xeric areas of Northeastern Brazil, and it is a termitophile species as its nests are built in active and inactive arboreal termite nests of the species C. cyphergaster. This study aimed to verify the characteristics of the nesting substrate used by P. seridoensis in two areas of dry forest (caatinga) in Cariri region, Paraíba state. It has been found that the vertical distribution of termites that contained colonies of P. seridoensis varied from 10 cm to 3.60 m, while the height of the nest entrance varied from 20 cm to 3.70 m. Commiphora leptophloeos, popularly known as imburana, was the support tree of 22 (43.1%) from 51 observed termite nests that harbored bee colonies. Most (44; 86.2%) of the host termites colonies were active. Most of the colonies showed the nest entrances not directed to the east/southeast. All colonies located were housed in large termite nests, whose volumes exceed 30 liters. In the two areas surveyed, frequently the entrances of the nests were directed to other nearby colonies, suggesting a parental relationship that should be further investigated.

AbstractThis paper investigates how spinoffs in peripheral regions can profit from the work experience of their founders. More specifically, it discusses which firm routines and business contacts entrepreneurs gather through their prior work experience, and how this experience influences the organizational structure and orientation of the newly founded firm. The transfer of capabilities from parent firm to spinoff has been identified as important aspect of industrial clustering, but empirical evidence from peripheral areas is still sparse. It compares 22 semi‐structured interviews with founders of manufacturing firms from different peripheral regions in Switzerland to investigate whether routine and network transfer differs in varying peripheral contexts. The results show that not only inherited routines are important, but also inherited business contacts. Further, instead of simply reproducing acquired routines and networks, founders employ a mixture of continuity and change to find a good trade‐off between relying on well‐proven practices and introducing novelty. Finally, the geographical proximity of inherited business contacts seems to have an influence on the implementation strategy founders choose. Entrepreneurs with strong inherited local business contacts do not have to invest as much in building up new business contacts as those entrepreneurs in more isolated locations.

The aim of this study was to evaluate feed intake, digestibility, nitrogen balance, water balance, and performance of lambs fed diets containing old man saltbush hay associated with a concentrate. Thirty-two castrated feedlot Santa Inês lambs at approximately eight months of age, with 22 ± 1.97 kg body weight, were distributed into a completely randomized experimental design. Acid detergent fiber intake increased (P < 0.05), whereas non-fibrous carbohydrates intake decreased (P < 0.01). Inclusion of old man saltbush in the diet reduced (P < 0.01) the digestibility of dry and organic matter, neutral and acid detergent fiber, and non-fibrous carbohydrates. The intakes of digestible dry and organic matter, ether extract, total carbohydrates, and digestible non-fibrous carbohydrates also decreased (P < 0.01). Inclusion of old man saltbush did not influence water consumption from the trough by the sheep, averaging 4,327.20 mL/day?1. Body weight at slaughter and daily weight gain decreased linearly (P < 0.05) and feed conversion worsened as old man saltbush hay was added to the diet. Inclusion of old man saltbush at up to 40% replacing the concentrate in feedlot lamb diets does not compromise the performance of these animals.

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivos identificar las construcciones metodológicas que despliegan los residentes de un instituto de Educación Física en sus intervenciones pedagógicas en escuelas de Educación Primaria en la provincia de San Juan, y describir las características que presentan, dando cuenta del modo en que facilitan u obstaculizan el proceso de construcción del conocimiento. Conformaron parte de este proyecto "exploratorio descriptivo" las intervenciones pedagógicas llevadas adelante por 12 (doce) residentes durante 22 (veintidós) clases en 3 (tres) escuelas coformadoras. A través de una metodología cualitativa, en cada una de las observaciones se dejó constancia de las mismas a partir de un registro descriptivo y una copia del plan de clase propuesto por cada uno de los estudiantes. Strategic water source areas are those areas that have a relatively high natural runoff in the region of interest, which is made accessible for supporting the region's population or economy. These areas contribute substantially to development needs, often far away from the source. This disconnect between ecosystem service supply and use means that the social-ecological impacts of development decisions in these areas may not be obvious to users and decision makers. We identified 22 strategic water source areas in southern Africa linked to major urban centers. We quantified the population size and economy they support, and their current levels of protection. We found that strategic water source areas form only 8% of the land area but contribute 50% of the runoff. When linked to downstream urban centers, these areas support at least 51% of South Africa's population and 64% of its economy. Yet only 13% of their land area is formally protected. We recommend using multiple strategies for the legal protection of these areas. Identifying strategic water source areas and their links to downstream users offers an opportunity for achieving synergy in spatial planning across diverse policy sectors, and enables new patterns of collaboration between government, business and civil society.

Those living without a diagnosis reside in an invisible margin of health and family research. The purpose of this study was to explore illness uncertainty as experienced by women and their families in the United States. I examined illness uncertainty through a feminist ecological interactionist (FEI) approach with three core constructs: interaction, agency, and context. I conducted narrative-focused, semi-structured interviews with 15 women (aged 25-46) and 11 family members (aged 22 to 62) identified by each woman and completed a constant comparative grounded theory analysis. The findings revealed women's lived experiences with symptoms and social support, interactions with the medical system, and agency in the context of such uncertainty. Findings also model a System of Illness Uncertainty that contends that women's experiences with illness uncertainty is an endless process that changes over time. In the System of Illness Uncertainty, women were Doubters, Resisters, Persisters, or Burnouts; all women experienced a paradigm shift regarding the Western health system as a result of their experiences. This research adds to the knowledge base on individuals who occupy spaces between the legitimized, diagnosable ill and the symptom-free healthy. Implications affect not only individuals and their families, but the politics of Western medical establishments. ; Ph. D.

Historically, Australia has not been regarded as a particularly corrupt country. In 2012, Transparency International ranked Australia as the 7th least corrupt country in its Corruption Perceptions Index. This ranking has deteriorated six places in four years; in 2016, Australia landed in 13th place on the same index. This sharp decline, in conjunction with continued revelations of corrupt conduct in the public, private and union sectors, has resulted in unprecedented national attention on corruption issues. As a result, the Australian federal government is currently considering a suite of reforms related to anti-corruption enforcement, including the introduction of deferred prosecution agreements, increased penalties for white collar crimes, the introduction of a new corporate foreign bribery offence, and the strengthening of whistle-blower protections. Included in this suite of proposals, on 8 February 2017, the Australian Senate referred an inquiry regarding the establishment of a national integrity commission to a Select Committee, which was charged with the following goal: to examine whether a National Integrity Commission ("NIC") should be established at the federal level to address institutional, organisational, political, electoral, and individual corruption and misconduct in the federal public sector. The Committee is required to report back on its findings to the Senate on or before 22 September 2017.

Objective: This study was designed to investigate whether whole-body scanning might promote healthy eating and physical activity in women, and to explore the effects of scanning on body image. Design: Fourteen women aged 22-45 years without histories of eating disorders or whole-body scanning, took part in semi-structured interviews before and after scanning. Data were analysed using inductive thematic analysis. Results: Scans did not look as expected, and participants expressed 'surprise' and 'shock'. Participants focused on perceived negative aspects of their bodies as revealed in scan images, and agreed that women with body concerns would find scans too 'real' and 'raw'. Eleven women who met UK government physical activity and healthy eating guidelines reported that the scan provided additional motivation to maintain, and in nine cases to increase, those behaviours. Two women who neither exercised nor ate healthily would not increase physical activity or change their diets following scanning. Conclusion: Whole-body scanning may enable maintenance or even acceleration of physical activity and healthy eating, but is unlikely to be useful in promoting initiation of these behaviours. Participants engaged in unhelpful body critique when viewing scans; scanning needs to be confined to contexts where support is provided, to avoid increasing body-related concerns.

Today, the household sector in the European Union and in Sweden accounts for approximately 25% and 22% of the final energy demand, respectively, and the sector will continue to grow in the next decades. To limit the impact on the energy demand of buildings, the European Union has introduced the Energy Performance of Building Directive. In Sweden, a proposal for building regulations adapted to the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive has been released, but no decision on implementation of it has been made. In this article, a real building is simulated to evaluate how different combinations of heating and decentralized energy generation systems are affecting the specific energy demand of the building. Also, an analysis on how the Swedish incentive schemes affect the choice of decentralized energy generation systems is conducted. Furthermore, it is investigated if it is necessary to adopt the incentive schemes to steer towards systems that reduce the specific energy demand of the building. The conclusion in this article is that the current incentive system is ineffective in terms of specific energy demand reduction of buildings. It needs to be adapted so it steers towards a reduction of the specific energy demand of buildings.

Traffic violations are the problem causes the majority of traffic accidents. Mainly because of the human factor that road users do not obey traffic rules, police have been carrying out various efforts, both preventive repressive through socialization to society and give blangko fines speeding tickets and persuasive manner through educational outreach to the public about traffic laws in perspective of legislation, traffic and road transport is regulated in Act No. 22 of 2009 about traffic and Road Transport (hereinafter referred to as the traffic laws and Road Transport). In the Traffic laws and Road Transport, among other organized effort of coaching, prevention and law enforcement in the field of road transport and traffic. The coaching efforts made through an increase in the intensity of traffic education and extension of law and the construction of human resources. Due to traffic accidents besides inflicting casualties and property losses also financially/materially, as the amount of losses in natural by riders. India has federal system of Government and the division of taxes among the Centre and State Governments isvery complex. Though, the Indian constitution creates a dual polity based on divided Governmental powersand functions, this division is not watertight compartment. Exact correspondence between resources andfunctions at different levels of the Government is not possible to secure in any federal system. The emergenceof imbalances between functional responsibilities and financial resources is a characteristic feature of allfederations. GST is also an information Technology driven tax mechanism. It clearly, shows a upward changein government revenue. It is further expected to have a charge on unlawful tax-aviodance. GST will benefitboth governments as well as the consumers. Further, after the implementation of GST, the business will haveto get GST ready software's. Hence, it is clear here that just registration is not enough for entire businessmanagement, government is planning a portal for easy excess monitoring. Here, it is notable that the increasein revenue which is being expected by the Government is not targeted from consumer's pocket but from thetax-aviodance. This study aims to determine the effect of the expertise and code of ethics compliance to audit quality. This study was conducted in South Tangerang City Inspectorate. The independent variable in this study is the expertise and compliance with a code of ethics. The dependent variable is the quality of the audit.This research is a quantitative study with descriptive approach. The data used is primary data and secondary data. Respondents in this study were government officials in South Tangerang City Inspectorate. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with 49 respondents. Methods of collecting data using a survey questionnaire distributed to respondents. Data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis with SPSS version 22. The results of this study show that first expertise has significant effect on audit quality, it is based on the calculation of the t test is sig. 0.021 t table (2,012). Second, the compliance code of conduct affects the quality of audits, it is based on the calculation of the t test is sig. 0.000 t table (2,012). Third, expertise and compliance with the code of conduct simultaneously affect the quality of audits, it is based on the calculation of F test value (121.020)> F table (3.20).
