This book foregrounds the provision of education for young people who have been remanded or sentenced into custody. Both international conventions and national legislation and guidelines in many countries point to the right of children and young people to access education while they are incarcerated. Moreover, education is often seen as an important protective and 'rehabilitative' factor. However, the conditions associated with incarceration generate particular challenges for enabling participation in education. Bridging the fields of education and youth justice, this book offers a social justice analysis through the lens of 'participatory parity', the book brings together rare interviews with staff and young people in youth justice settings in Australia, secondary data from these sites, a suite of pertinent and frank reports, and international scholarship. Drawing on this rich set of material, the book demonstrates not only the challenges but also the possibilities for education as a conduit for social justice in custodial youth justice. The book will be of immediate relevance to governments and youth justice staff for meaningfully meeting their obligation of enabling children and young people in custody to benefit from education; and of interest to scholars and researchers in education, youth work and criminology. .

This paper investigated creative quality of educational managers in functional education as a panacea to achieving sustainable development in Anambra State, Nigeria. Three research questions were answered and a null hypothesis tested. The population was all the principals in Public secondary schools in Anambra State. Two hundred male and female principals were sampled for the study. A self-developed structured questionnaire titled Creative Quality of Educational Managers in Functional Education as a panacea to Achieving Sustainable Development Questionnaire (CQEMFEPSDQ)' was used for data collection. Data were analysed with mean and t-test at .05 alpha. Major findings of the study included Education system, variables for the absence of creative and quality Educational Managers and strategies towards ensuring the prevalence of creative and quality Educational Managers in Nigeria's Educational Sector. The conclusion of the study was that without creative and quality educational managers, the chances of achieving sustainable National development will be very slim, if not non-existent. Based on the findings, it was concluded that government should completely overhaul the system of appointing educational managers.

We investigated the extent to which relationship status and age at birth explain the education gradient in whether a woman's pregnancy leading to her most recent birth was intended or not. Our data came from wave 5 (2005) of the Household Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia survey (HILDA) (n = 1,751). We found an education gradient in intended births, where less educated women were more likely to report an unintended most recent birth. Part of this was explained by the fact that less educated women were younger when they give birth and less likely to be married—characteristics predictive of unplanned births. To better understand education differences in having unintended births further research needs to focus on the role played by education differences in abortion and contraceptive behaviour.

This paper will examine changes in seven aspects of higher education policy in the People's Republic of China during the 1970s and, based on the experience of the Soviet Union and the East European socialist states, will explore the implications of these changes for the structuring of social inequality in contemporary Chinese society.

This article explores the effect that the use of e-portfolios initiated and
organized by apprenticeship training offices has had on the learning processes and
assessment practices of apprentices in Norwegian vocational education and training.
Although these intermediate structures have the potential to bridge the gap between
work and education, they seem to maintain a system of two parallel learning arenas.
However, the article summarizes the innovative effects of these transformations as
supportive structures for expansive apprenticeship. The study is based on data from
a national project on quality assessment, which is supported by documentary evidence from e-portfolios in three different trades: plumbing, industrial mechanics
and sales

The article provides a comparative analysis of digital educational platforms used in the practice of Russian and Chinese universities. Our conclusions are based on the comparative data on Russia and China published in the reports of UNESCO, International Labour Organization, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Council of Europe and European Economic Community (EEC), Asia-Pacific Programme of Innovation in Education for Development (APEID). In addition, the article provides data from two sociological studies carried out by the authors themselves. The first study was conducted between January and February 2020. The study was conducted by means of a survey, personal interview (N = 600). Students from Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk and Tyumen took part in the survey. The quantitative research data were supplemented by in-depth interviews with Chinese graduates of Russian universities (postgraduates, master's students) in the amount of 50 pieces (N = 50). Also in March — May 2020, we conducted a sociological survey in the universities of Ekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, and Moscow. In the course of the research we interviewed 500 students who had gained experience in distance learning during the pandemic. Qualitative research — in-depth interview method (N = 20), average duration of the interview is 90 minutes. Informants were the faculty of higher educational institutions of Yekaterinburg, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Frame analysis of cases was also conducted (N = 42). The analysis of these cases made it possible to identify the most popular digital technologies in the educational process, as well as their main advantages and disadvantages.

Bangladesh is a densely populated country. There is no alternative but education is the tool to convert the masses to human resource. That's why government of Bangladesh wants to ensure the primary education in the early stages. Each child should be enrolled in school at the right time which is very important. Children who could not go to school in time for various reasons or dropped out later should be admitted into main stream by giving them Second Chance. Reality is that, the dropout rate from primary level is still noticeable and it must be addressed properly and that's why second chance education is very important in primary level in Bangladesh.
