"Many media users feel as if they are engaging in an interaction or have a personal relationship with people they see in the media. These psychological experiences, that are collectively referred to as parasocial experiences (PSEs). This Handbook offers a thorough synthesis of the fast-growing, international, and multi-disciplinary research of PSEs, celebrating the field's accomplishments to date but also outlining a blueprint for future growth. "During an eight-month period in 1977 and 1978, the city of Columbus, Georgia, was terrorized by a mysterious serial killer who raped and ritualistically strangled seven elderly women in one of the community's finer neighborhoods. "In the United States, community colleges are some of the most racially diverse institutions of higher education. And, as such, as we argued in Minding the Obligation Gap...(Sims, et al., 2020), they are uniquely positioned to function as disruptive technologies, i.e., spaces that disrupt institutionalized educational inequity. "Safety culture refers to the norms, values, and practices shared by groups in relation to risk and safety.
