AbstractThis study explored psychological conditions affecting children's receptiveness to a newcomer (the guest) in a peer group entry task. Subjects were 93 host dyads (48 male) of 7‐ to 9‐year‐old children. Hosts played a word‐naming game for 5 min before being joined by a male or female guest. The hosts' pre‐entry interaction was coded to reflect an orientation toward the game (agentic) or toward each other and toward experimental setting demands (communal). Hosts' psychological orientation predicted entry outcomes. Specifically, hosts of excluded children verbally competed with each other (an aspect of agency) more than hosts of children who entered. Male hosts competed more than female hosts and female hosts helped and encouraged each other (aspects of the communal orientation) more than male hosts. These findings suggest that the strategies and effort required by children to achieve group entry may depend on prior psychological conditions attending the interaction of the peer group.
; One of the central concepts of modern psychology is the psychological well-being of a person, which is interpreted as a condition of productive self-actualization. Theoretical and empirical studies examine the problem of the content of psychological well-being, its structure, and factors influencing it. Such question as: what human life characteristics are associated with psychological well-being in real social contexts including the main field of self-actualization, that is professional life, is scarcely studied. We conducted a research project at a company of oil and gas industry. The respondents: 42 mid-level directors. The methods of research: 1) The measure of psychological well-being of an individual (Shevelenkova T.D., Fesen-ko P.P.); the adapted version of the C. Riffs's questionnaire "Psychological Weil-Being Scale"; 2) The Job Diagnostic Survey; 3) The Occupational Personality Questionnaire (professionally significant qualities). The study reveals connections of psychological well-being and professionally significant qualities of a director. For the data processing the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient was used. The results: higher levels of psychological well-being are attributed to productive attitude to work (the desire to show influence and control, independence, liveliness in a relationship, energy, competitiveness, motivation to achieve, low anxiety, innovation and creative thinking, holistic perception of tasks and responsibility for them, the desire to implement various skills and to receive feedback, the awareness of the meaning of work, and commitment to perform). Along with this there has been a poor social activeness (immodesty, weak sense of belonging to a group, careless and democratic attitude towards employees, lack of interest to one's behavior, and poor emotional control). Ideal and desired levels of satisfaction with various aspects of work and working relationships are significantly higher among the directors with higher levels of psychological well-being. Real satisfaction with various aspects of work is not related to psychological well-being.

; The economic crisis that has become central in political discourse, the media and the collective imaginary is a construction involving many strong individual and collective psychological aspects. This analysis is supported on selected contributions from leading authorities of the past decade, in order to go beyond the indicators of deterioration of the psychological health of the population, strictly considered, and to outline the psychological processes generating crisis and conventional "solutions to the crisis". The key question being: how do you get a sense of prosperity within a real disaster? The proposed reading goes over issues such as: (1) the collective result of decision making under stimulation of needs and persuasive advertising, in market uncertainty; (2) the prevalence of imitation and observation as learning mechanisms, where veracity of discourses is not considered and media models are easily incorporated; (3) the consumption of symbols and meanings rather than goods, which characterize us; (4). A speech focused on a common enemy (financial markets, ratings agencies, the deficit, debt, etc.). . that legitimates a state of emergency where dissent is equated with treason, and (5) A requirement of trust, necessary for both the market and the reduction of psychological instability. The script points to new lines of work, focusing particularly on: (1) a concept of psychological health including autonomy, control of the environment, personal growth, a vital project, valuing social involvement, and (2) the role played by associations, independent thinking and academic activism, in order to start a whole new set of social relations, build critical thinking, and a commitment to boost intelligence.

Connections between resources and migration operate as a complex adaptive system rather than being premised in linear, causal mechanisms. The systems thinking advocated within this element increases the inclusion of socio-psychological, financial, demographic, environmental and political dimensions that mediate resource-(im)mobility pathways.

Assesses Franz L. Neumann's approach to social pathology & political justice. His late essay, "Anxiety and Politics," not only inaugurated an exceptionally significant & frequently overlooked area of research; it also aptly differentiated between the conceptual & normative bases that should be accounted for in current political psychology. However, the weaknesses of Neumann's approach derive from an overreliance on Freudian psychoanalysis & its development by the Frankfurt school. Moreover, the approach is based on an exclusively narrow perspective on the collapse of Nazism. Three particular theoretical aspects are addressed: (1) Neumann's notion of individual neurotic anxiety; (2) the psychological links between individuals' neurotic anxieties & the regressive loss of ego in a mass of unlimited collectivities; & (3) how "tyrannical governments" institutionalize anxiety.
