In response to a rebuttal by Knopff & Morton to Smith (both, 2002) & her criticism of their earlier analysis (2000 [1992]) of the activist role of the Canadian Supreme Court & the legitimacy of judicial review, Knopff & Morton are accused of letting their personal & partisan political prejudices shape their views. Points on which they contend that Smith agrees with them are challenged, & major points of disagreement are identified, particularly, the notion that there has been a Charter revolution in Canada driven by group politics. To their accusation that Smith is "creating a straw man," she responds that they are "chasing a chimera.". K. Hyatt Stewart

The article analyzes the inclusion of digital anthropology and ethnography in the study of the audience online that conditions cyber politics with the use of social networks on the Internet. For some years now, the political cyber activism of users, carried out through social media, has played an important role in strengthening or supporting movements, parties and political leaders, directly influencing the results of the various electoral elections in different parts of the world. In order to understand this phenomenon, it is important to take into account the aforementioned disciplines, which constitute paradigms in the emergence of new political movements in the network and which, when applied to social networks, make up an increasingly necessary study cocktail. For the present work, a bibliographic review of the description and fundamental characteristics of digital anthropology and ethnography is carried out and the web pages of the main social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) of political parties and leaders in the general elections have been taken in Spain, on 2019. The result obtained suggests an increasingly specialized use of ethnographic and anthropological techniques in the study of social networks in political or social spheres, and, consequently, their use in the study of media audiences on the Internet.

First published in 1986, The Politics of the Communications Revolution in Western Europe deals with the political implications of the communications revolution, specifically with impacts on political debate and agenda, the policy process, the role of the state, and European integration. The communications revolution in Western Europe combined radical changes in the fields of computing, broadcasting and telecommunications, converging in the new media, and is intimately linked to the wider information technology revolution. The economic and social implications of the communications revolution are wide-ranging and include: the electronic office, tele-banking and tele-shopping, decentralisation of economic activities, major transformations in the labour markets, and the strategic role of the electronics industry. This book will be of interest to students of European studies, history and media studies.

Discusses a way for teachers to link theory & practice via Dewey's notion of civic participation, using a student research team to conduct service-learning activities that addressed community needs & provided campus & community outreach in the context of community sustainability. The team renovated a 200-year-old college building in Charleston, SC, applying green building practices, ie, sustainability & community participation. After a review of traditional teaching methods, the project is described. Semistandardized interview data of the research & service-learning team members shed light on issues of collaborative instruction, problem-solving, independent & cooperative learning, & active learning. It is concluded that the Green Building Renovation Project is a model for sustainable development & community-university collaboration. 18 References. J. Zendejas

Efforts were made nonetheless to draw attention to the two anniversaries in August 2007, the New Zealand Political Studies Association -- with which this journal is associated -- held its annual conference, convened on this occasion at Victoria University of Wellington, with the customary streams of disciplinary papers being complemented by a special theme, beginning with a keynote session and running through the programme. The theme -- '60 years of New Zealand Independence' -- had two elements to it: first, to highlight the Statute of Westminster, and New Zealand's tardy but in the end definitive choice of ratification in September 1947 -- the 'independence' anniversary being marked by the conference theme. The second was to reflect upon the contributions made by prime ministers from that time onwards, consciously or otherwise, towards developing and enhancing New Zealand's independence.
