Britian's Muslim question

This article provides an overview of Muslim issues, following controversy over legislation to protect religious citizens from vilification, which is actually an attempt to target increasing Islamophobia. Conflicts among progressive and traditional Muslims groups are on the rise: a fair number of Muslim immigrants prefers not to be integrated fully in the society, whereas another substantial portion of Muslims have joined all the ranks of British mainstream life. Suspicion about Islam has been heightened following 9/11 and several other Islamist terrorist acts throughout Europe, and due to increased publicity being given to less commonly known aspects of Muslim religion. Ultimately, Islamic issues have gradually gained political importance because the Muslim community is steadily growing and is opposing Britain's support for Bush's perceived war on Islam.
