The influence of schools on students' life and development in many ways remains underexplored. Similiar work in mainland China by an objective outsider is especially rare. The intent of the present study is to use case data from professional adults and university students in mainland China to test a comprehensive hypothesis that the influence of schools or formal education is powerful on students' life and development in many areas.
